Considering how important that gear is, it's really surprising that you can't see player loadout in the lobby - You could easily show a couple purple icons (maybe w/ a lvl number) so even before clicking through you could see if a "Level 1" guy was a newbie or a grizzled vet. Although at this point, I assume the team is working on basic stuff like "connecting properly" or "rewarding XP."

Starting this conversation will no doubt rile up the army of people who will argue to their death against the idea of anyone looking at their gear claiming elitism and level bias etc... But if you want to know if someone knows how to play the game or not as a level 1 just look at their banner, if the have an icon by their name most likely its for killing 2500 of one of the 3 monster types or landing 2500 crits. That at least says they have been through enough games to know what's going on. If they have an icon and a banner that will indicate (usually) an element was used which means they are at least using a runed weapon. Whether that weapon is any good or not is anyones guess, my guess would be that the majority of people are probably using IL 15 or lower blue weapons because apparently you need to get your 1000000 gold achievement before anything better will drop for you. And of course you could always just ask in the lobby too, voice chat is available!
