So I had only just finished singing Biowares praises for making this wonderful game when a crash wiped my entire playthrough. No save files nothing. Had to start again. Is anyone else experiencing this and is it a regular thing? I'm so annoyed that I have to start again. 30  hours in! Patch time me thinks.

Why don't you do as many others do: Make a copy of your savegames?

I do it. I have a folder on a different drive where I store them. I copy almost every time I finished playing. Beacuse I don't trust games at all. They're so byggy.
This one in particular it seems.

Not a fan of Origin and other online requirements but one thing it does do is keep an online backup of your save games.

I've never had a game wipe out ALL my saves. I can understand the current save been wiped but all just seems unlikely. So I've never made backups of my saves.

Oh, it happens to me quite often on Xbox one. I would get logged off of the Dragon Age Servers, My manual saves would disappear  when I logged back into the Dragon Age Servers and I have to redo some of the things I did during that last save over again.  At one time it said that my files were corrupted.  What I am trying to understand here is: where are  my files being saved?  Is it on my Xbox locally or via cloud? Is there some type of syncing issue going on that  I am unaware of?  At times  the saves work and other times they don't. I save two manual saves just to avoid this.  Even then my last two saves didn't help this time today.  I got logged off of the Dragon Age Servers. When I logged back in, the last things I did, didn't register in those saves.  *scratches her head*

I used to think that way. Then my hard drive failed.

This has happened to at least a few other people on the forum, it seems to be an established bug. I'm hoping they are working on patching it. Losing my playthrough after so much investment makes me twitch just thinking about it.

But that's (usually) not the fault of the game. If a game did that it'd be a real piece of work (hello Pool of Radiance).

Don't know how it works on Xbox, on PC it periodically syncs an online version of my saves with my local saves. I have the option to replace my local saves with the online ones if required. Almost seems like your online versions are wiping your local saves. Maybe you're turning your xbox off before it can sync the online versions and it corrupts them, then it tries to resync those corrupted files to your xbox because they differ. <shrug>

I noticed it did do that one time I was able to log into my PC version of the game (without character customization) before it crashed.  A warning popped  up from Origin and alerted me that the save in my laptop was different then the  auto save stored on cloud.  On Xbox one, I don't have the choice to choose.  So, yes, I can understand that,

The weird thing is that the game, forces me to re-log into Xbox Live at times, especially when I get disconnected from the Dragon Age Servers.  Even though I am  already logged in Xbox Live,  to connect to the Dragon Age Servers, I must log  out  and log log back into Xbox Live ,  I contacted EA customer support.  One Rep stated to me that the game is an online game. I didn't quite understand  what he meant, for  I am playing Dragon Age Inquisition: on console at t he moment not on my PC.  I am one of the unlucky players who cannot get into the game without it crashing on me on PC.  I've tried what the EA customer Rep asked me to do. Nothing works (My laptop is up-to-date on drivers and is an i7).  Why must it sync with Cloud storage?  Could it be that  the auto saves are being stored via Cloud for console versions as well?

There is no way for me to prevent auto-saving.  I wish there was a way to stop it.  Metatheurgist, thanks for your response  :) .  I'm really trying to contain my frustrations.  I have waited for this game since I learned of it.  I want to truly explore it and experience it, so that I can formulate a n overall opinion of this title in the world of Thedas based on logic and not emotions (I want to be fair here). Hence, II am being very meticulous by inspecting every nook and leaving no stones un-turned, so to speak. (In my blog, I have started to document things that stand out and that annoy me  as well as things that I find refreshing while they are happening; since this is so massive, I will have plenty to say..)
