I'll start by saying that playing DA:I on nightmare has been giving me many fond flashbacks to Dragon Age Origins, and that, despite a plethora of problems, I'm enjoying the game.

This is not because Inquisition is even remotely as good as Origins, but because it is no where near as bad as DA:2. I'd committed myself to never purchasing another Bioware game after DA:2, but my devotion proved weak and I ended up getting Inquisition.

While it's great to see that Inquisition plays a lot more like Origins, and while I am largely enjoying the game, it has renewed my disdain for Bioware and what the studio has become. Playing on the hardest difficulty has made just how little Bioware cares for it's PC consumers more evident than ever.

Having to use the tactical camera in almost every single fight brought it's god awful design to my attention. Had I played on a lower difficulty I may of had not even noticed, but I can see very clearly now that absolutely no thought was given to how the tactical camera would handle on the PC. Ignoring the fact that the camera gets caught on every single piece of terrain possible and lacks the ability to zoom out to a practical height, the handling of the camera feels as unintuitive as, I imagine, a third arm growing out of my ass would feel.

Where M1 should control where you're looking and M2 should control your camera height, both M1 and M2 perform some sort of multi-axis zoom that rotates as I get closer to the ground. The scrolling wheel is practically useless and you can't move your camera by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen. The tactical cam almost turns the mouse into two giant console bumpers - both of which do the same thing. At this point it makes more sense for me to rebind the keys and not use the mouse in the tactical cam at all.

Then we have the AI. Tactics & behaviours have been dumbed down to the point that they may as well of not had been added. I can say that, without a doubt, Bioware made the concious decision not to implement a complicated tactics screen in lieu of a simpler more console oriented system. The complicated tactics screen of Origins was far beyond what we ever see on consoles, largely due to most console gamers being far too casual for it.

Even the pointless tactics & behaviours wouldn't be so bad if the AI's natural state wasn't that of a drunken mental patient performing in a circus. Between ranged characters constantly running into melee range, tanks not knowing how to tank, supports using barriers on characters that aren't taking damage, and the complete inability of any character to follow through with a revive order, it feels like I'm managing a kindergarten class as opposed to tactically fighting a battle.

I was wondering how hard nightmare might be with it being described as being designed for masochits, but I see now, that the description was not a reflection of the difficulty of the enemies I might be facing, but of the difficulty of overcoming the games design flaws. Every fight screams CONSOLLEEEE CCOOOONNNSSOOLLLLEEEE at me.

I thought that DA:2 had made me understand that Bioware had long discarded the fans and games that brought it to fame in exchange for more profits, but it seems I was still too naive. DA:I has enlightened me. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it's clear that the one thing I should no longer expect from Bioware, is a quality Bioware game. All that the future holds is more AAA sellouts. Sure, I've been having fun in DA:I, but I refuse to give my money to a company that, despite it's PC origins, spits on it's PC consumers. It sickens me to know that Dragon Age began as an RPG franchise that was meant to honour classical PC RPG games.

All this game has given me is a bitter taste in my mouth that comes from knowing I've bought yet another Bioware game.

youre better off disabling AI and controlling everything while pausing... that is if you can stomache the horrible tactical camera view... they never had any intention of making AI a serious part of this game, especialy since i can shoot targets from very far away and they just stand there because a crate is in their way... even on nightmare...
