I am glad that Bioware brought back the fan favorites from DA:O.

Yet sadly, the amount of interaction between the two was really minimal.

In fact, Leliana was uncharacteristically hostile towards Morrigan.

And Morrigan doesn't seem to even notice Leliana.

You'd think that having saved the world together you would at least catch up on old times...

At the very least, say something good or sarcastic about each other.

There's a short bit of dialogue between Leliana and Cullen at the war table after the Arbor Wilds (or the eluvian bit) where Cullen teases Leliana about something she said that hints that she cares about Morrigan. It wasn't a lot, but at least it was something.

I get the impression they caught up before Morrigan joined us for the Inquisition.

MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

No, this is one of my complaints as well. Leliana, Loghain/Alistair and Morrigan can all be in Skyhold at the same time if you play the game in a certain order and yet nothing is added to it, seems like lacking a bit ambition in the cameos.

Also, I was always a bit iffy that Cullen and Cassandra never interact with Hawke when s/he first appears in Skyhold, s/he knew Cullen, and Cassandra always seemed like she wanted to meet the Champion.

I dunno, just seems like Bioware missed some great opportunities.

You can ask Leliana about Morrigan, but not the other way around.

The very short exchange at the war table is all business, though.

I agree that it might have been nice for some of those things.  But I think putting to much effort into the interactions due to events of a game that potentially a lot of players didn't see would be assuming to much.  In other words, anyone that didn't play DA2 wouldn't have been able to get as much out of those interactions, and that would have left new players confused.  The focus needed to stay on this game, not the past ones.

You know, you would think Bioware would have something extra if you happen to have Morrigan, Alistair, and Leiliana all at Skyhold at the same time. Doesn't make sense that the three wouldn't acknowledge each other at all. Obviously they weren't all friends (well, neither was friends with Morrigan anyway), but they did travel together for months.

I saw a video where Leliana had some not very nice things to say about Morrigan. How she was horrible and said mean things just for the sake of being mean, then said having her son seemed to have softened her. I agree, though, it would be nice if they would acknowledge each other more. After all Morrigan, Leliana and Alistair all had the HOF in common and all three helped defeat the blight in one form or another.

I don't think that's a good defensive argument. Dragon Age is a game that lives its optional scenes. After all, you can actually play though the game without ever talking to any of the companions at all, that makes all companion interaction, the main component of Bioware, optional - scenes some people will never see.

Leliana, Morrigan and Alistair/Loghain interacting should be a treat for the players that happened to have that happen and not just go unmentioned at all. Even a very short or small scene would have been enough to satisfy most fans.

----

- Alistair enters skyhold with Inquisitor and Hawke.

- Sees Leliana on the steps

- "Oh hey Leli, lolz"

- Sees Morrigan in the doorway to the castle.

- "Morrigan?"

- Morrigan turns around and walks away.

- "Good to see you too..."

---

There, 20 seconds.  ^_^

A scene of Alistair being super awkward with Morrigan over the fact that he's her ritual baby daddy could have been amazing.

Yeah it truly is a nice soap opera scene in Skyhold with Morrigan, Kieran, Alistair or logain, Fiona. Add in Flemeth and you got yourself an awkward family reunion....oh well

They didn't even appear to know each other or have any history. It was bizarre.

No idea if what I had was different but Leliana was fairly neutral about Morrigan. Spoke a bit about how she's changed and a little about her son. Tone overall was like yeah, I know her, I travelled with her during the blight, but she isn't a friend.

it only shows that Bioware put all their time into MMO type "content" (fetch quests and environment) and not into story, plot and characters.

Hence why DAI is a poor game.

Or the fact that the Warden (Hero of Fereldon) was the unifying factor between all these people and they have nothing in common outside of that may contribute to the lack of interaction.

Just because we had Chemistry together in the 11th grade and had to do a group project together doesn't mean we'll be "besties" or have anything meaningful to say to one another 10 years later.

So Bioware stayed true to real life awkwardness and I approve.

They still travled together for a year fighting a common cause. They don't have to be best buds, but after events like that you would have to remember those people in a certain way. At least enough to warrant a reaction upon reunion.

I get the impression that Morrigan isn't the type to sit down over tea and discuss old times.

Even if they were best friends (and these two weren't), why would they be having these conversations in front of your character?  You're just Leliana's coworker.

"Ah, well, they can't bring back this character / have these characters interact because some fans might not like that."

...If you're playing Dragon Age and yet don't like the DA characters or seeing them interact, then why do you bother? So many complaints about Dragon Age seem to stem from people just not liking the genre or the games themselves. Which begs the question: why are you here?
