I tried to kill the Highland Ravager in Emprise du Lion yesterday. Yes I did.
It's is the last Dragon in the map. A level 23 dragon.
Holy cow!
My entire team was viped out twice. The first fight took me about 40 minutes. Then I gave up as Cassandra was the only one still alive. I was on level 18 (or 19).
I had Cassandra patched up with all the unique gear I could find plus custom made armor and weapons. She was practically immortal and fought for 40 minutes before I ran out and went back to camp. Everyone else was dead after five minutes.
The second try lasted 25 minutes - and I gave up.
You better be prepare for it!
I have to work out this 'focus' thing before I start this fight to make it a bit easier. Or maybe wait untill I have reached a higher level.
This dragon is challenging!

Never beat that one on my first PT.
He is really hard mostly because of all the adds he spawns ![]()

I found out why I wasn't able to beat him yesterday. My custom crafted gear had 'cold resistance' and not 'fire resistance'...
Stupid me! Might be a good idea to make some new gear I think.

Remember resistance potions! They help a ton against dragons ![]()

You don't really need fire resist on anyone except possibly the tank. All the fire damage he does is completely avoidable. All you need to do is burst down the adds when they show up. An offtank might help, but I wouldn't know.
For the record, killed him with Blackwall, Varric, Dorian, and 2H Templar PC on nightmare first try @ lvl 20.

Really in dragon fights it was dragonlings and wing flap that were killing me for the longest time until I figured out to run towards the flap and not away from it.

Mark of death + Mark of the rift + thousand cuts, detonate mark and the fight is over. Some combo's in this game is way overpowered.

Focus abilities are generally overpowered and really not necessary to use. They trivialize fights, in my opinion.

Just become a Knight Enchanter and bring Solas with you.
Life becomes so much easier, and being a KE allows you to slap dragons around like discarded toys. Especially at level 24.

Killed it on first go, Nightmare difficulty, level 21 Inquisitor and level 20 rest of the party, and yeah it took a good while because of the constant 70k health Guard buffer she casts on herself periodically.
The dragonlings stopped spawning eventually, either it bugged out or the world ran out of dragonlings. -.-

Fire resistance isn't that important since it doesn't hit much with the fire. Your tanks will be inside the breath stream and your ranged outside, you can dodge the fireballs.
Really in dragon fights it was dragonlings and wing flap that were killing me for the longest time until I figured out to run towards the flap and not away from it.
Fire resistance is pretty huge tbh, i made a custom armor with 94% fire resist and was able to solo it with my level 22 champion, the dragonlings do fire damage as well, his non fire damage is neglectable.

I just had my rogue step out of the fight, and pick off the dragonlings one by one, as fast as I could.

Once you learn Dragon tells (animations leading to what the dragon will do next - breath / relocate / tail swipe / knockdown front etc) you can do all dragons without resistance gear / pots on NM (but you will spend 90% of fight i tac cam most likely).
I did the Ravager with a lvl 19 party with T2 gear (he was orange) and killed it in about 7-10 mins. Only used healing / regen pots and grenades. You need movement (evade / fade step / combat roll etc) on each thingie so you can quickly dodge breaths / get inside the safe zone when dragon flaps wings etc.
Very important: use upgraded shield bash whenever the dragon gains guard, since guard scales with health, a 200k+ HP will have huge guard. Mark of Death helps with damage dealing obviously. Save enough mana / energy for adds when they spawn, and deal with them ASAP (preferably grouping them up as they come either with spells or with your tank, then use CC or kill them).
Sadly you have to use tac cam a lot during such fights because even if you get a good start (sleeping dragon so you can safely position dps and tank and initiate) as soon as dragon moves or turns, you need to keep moving peeps, because solas or sera have a fetish for facetanking in the sweet spots for breath / tailswipe and they won't use their movement skills until it's too late or force you to use pots in a bad spot.
Some tips: Lightning Cage vs non electricity resistant dragons - tons and tons of damage from all party. Mark of Death - boss killer obviously, use it before issuing commands for burst / unload from party. Weakness is huge - either spell or grenade. Bees are made for dragons they love to play together. Multi hit skills work wonders (with lightning cage too obv) since there are 5 hit boxes close to each other on dragons. Hidden Blades procs on most party members help a ton with damage dealing, more than anything else obviously (HB on a mage with lightning storm & barrage & chain lightning is insane, add a fire mine or walking bomb and all rogues will be Red Jellies on you!). Guard helps even on low hp targets because it gives you time when **** hits the fan to dispel lightning circles / burning / poison etc or cast a barrier and move out of bad spots without taking severe damage while doing so.

Nvm... I just keep fighting the dragon and the lings just end up in the way and die from the cleaves and random AoE. It's not that bad but still hardest dragon fight so far.

If you aren't an Assassin as above or aren't keen on soling it with Cole...
You could solo it with Blackwall/Champion Inquisitor, just keep up To the Death, should take around 10 min.
Or drag your party along, just use Blackwall to tank, keep TtD up, use War Cry and Walking Fortress to round up/survive the adds.
