I agree with everything said here. Skyhold on the whole is a let down. We had those brilliant scenes where you journeyed from the ruin of Haven to find Skyhold and you thought 'yes this is awesome', and then after a while it all becomes samey with nothing really happening or going on. Apart from decent upgrades there should have been assasins trying to kill you and other leaders of the Inquisition, murder, mystery, treachery and an epic battle defending Skyhold itself, but no, there's nothing, zilch- what a let down. There's not even a storage chest- a must in all RPG's.The Inquisitors room is all very nice but nothing really happens there,- it's just eye candy. I romanced Cass but she never appeared in the Inquisitors room except briefly at the end of the game. Thats just utter pants, seriously, that's just not good enough bioware. I could go on but I think we all know the real reason why Skyhold is a let down. E.A. in a nutshell. They pushed for a Xmas release so some things never got implemented and indeed some stuff got cut. Way to go [again] E.A. I suppose some of this will get implemented though we'll have to pay for it through DLC's. Again, well done E.A,- you must be really proud of yourselves.

Seriously, I was expecting them to actually fix the place up.
When it said A Better Courtyard I actually thought it'd be better. But nope, puddles of water, poor paving, rubble all over. Oh, we fixed that one building in the back for you, that's all you wanted right?
The Garden I have no idea what the difference between a Chantry garden and herbal garden is, aside from the extra 6 pots. The well is still covered up, looks unkempt and in general not much different from the original one. Not really how I expected a garden specially designed for growing herbs to look like, you know, with only the one corner being used for the purpose.
I haven't tried the Templar tower yet but I'm gonna assume the only difference will be the flag that hangs outside but at least something noticable happen to that one.
And speaking of towers, why are all other towers unused except for Cullen's? They're just rubble depositories apparently. Could we at least fix the hole in Cullen's roof? With all the quarries and logging stands I've been finding that apparently have no use at all we certainly have the resources.
Absolutely agree... I couldnt even tell what happened when i added the Templar Tower.. The Infirmary was a tiny room, and the "Garden" was literally 4 extra planters, lol, wtf!?!
I think im on the last bit of the game, and still have gaping holes in the infrustructure... But we have time for Drapery, and throw rugs?

At first I didn't mind that much that most things are purely cosmetic, Skyhold was a huge step forward for BioWare and it worked for me. Now I have to agree that there is A LOT of wasted potential like the rest of the game though. I mean, if you compare it to Skyrim Hearthfire, it was a lot smaller but filled with useful stuff. In Skyhold you only need the Undercroft and the traders + war table. You don't have chests, you cannot cook, you can talk to your guys and thats it. It looks awesome as hell, but it is soo empty. And static. No one moves. Ridiculous. Did they want to mock Dark Souls? If there weren't the cut scenes the chars would simply wait on the same square.
While Skyrim somehow manages to pretend a living world to a certain degree, Dragon Age feels like a standstill. Val Royeaux is dead for example. So sad it looks wonderful. This policy worked well for DA2 because the world design was so underwhelming no one cared haha.
And they should also get rid of those stupid neverending requisition quests. Everything for the Skyhold would be nice. Fewer quests that let you experience some change would be fun.

Ok. Has zero to do with the topic at hand though. Which was "Skyhold's upgrades are disappointing", as in: the upgrades that are in the game.
The obvious implication is he believes a lot more Skyhold content was left out, lol.
I think that he's both correct, but that also that we may see some of it. Skyhold strikes me as one of the systems that could just be added to infinitely, and that - as mostly cosmetic changes - would have been the first thing sacrificed to an upcoming deadline. So I think the blog from Scylla Costa might include some Skyhold content, where he mentions things that didn't make it into release but will be Coming Eventually.
The mage tower being "a flag we hang outside with some tables inside" was clearly not what anyone expected from the description of the tower upgrade. I was looking for a tower, and I'd bet I wasn't the only one.
Like I said, you could add infinitely to that place. My hope is that most of the basic stuff, that was intended for release, comes out in a content patch. Don't blame the devs for that. They don't set deadlines, and they want the stuff they make to be in the game. There is also probably someone right now going to bat for keeping most of it in a content patch, and not packaged up as DLC.
I wouldn't be opposed to Skyhold DLC; it just needs to not be a re-sale of what was meant to be launch content, and be entirely new stuff instead.

Oh well - hoping we have some cheap dlc's to compensate.
You are reinforcing this behaviour. Why would they ever include a complete game without gaps in content, when you go "oh well, I guess I'll pay 5 more bucks on top of this full-price $60 game to make it a complete product?"
DLC should be something that adds content. Adds value. DLC should not be an extra charge you pay to fix broken stuff or put in things the game leads you to believe are part of the core experience.
If you keep falling for this, EA will keep releasing broken bits forever, and then charge you extra for glue. Stop it. Withhold your money until a complete product is provided as advertised. Right now, someone at EA is reading your post and snickering. Why would they ever change this practice when you reward them for it?

Bioware cut alot of content from what was originally shown in video streams.
Example:
That village you were supposed to save early in the game...
I think all promises player gets are always exaggerated. I remember bioware saying in trailer that it matters less what you say than what you do. Hm still everything the same like in previous titles. Sure they have problems with the time they have to programming but i still think they set the prioritis false. They could make a smaller world. Why is everytime the quantity before the quality. Its like with the male genitals! Its not the size whats matters! Somehow they didnt find a really good middle way/balance.one element of game gets big and great but other elements suffer for that...so why take a deep look what matters most and concentrate more in this point and try to find a good middle. There will be everytime some bad critics.its not possible to create a perfect game because of different likes and some people wants ever more. But if the balance is right players forgive more, and standing behind bioware and put trust next time they make even a better job.

While Skyrim somehow manages to pretend a living world to a certain degree, Dragon Age feels like a standstill.
So true. A big complaint about that game was that it felt empty and soulless. That's definitely true with the lack of meaningful friendships, character development, and relationships, but the world itself does feel very much alive, at least more so than in Dragon Age, which feels a bit like a dollhouse. Shopkeepers have homes and schedules in the Elder Scrolls, they sleep. People are constantly on the move and traveling. If and when Bioware finds a way to add these elements to their unique formula they're going to make a truly immersive rpg.
Imagine people leaving the tavern drunk to go to their quarters (where are all of these people staying, anyway?). Heck, I imagine it not being daytime 24/7.

I agree, i'm right at the end of the game, and still walking over debris and rubble on the way to my Inquisitor's Quarters. And there is absolutely no reason for my Bedroom, nothing in it that changes or makes it feel like mine, no reason to ever go there. I romanced Cullen, so we did it in his Tower ha!
