All of this just makes me miss the days of Baldur's Gate in how you would uncover superior items. There was no re-zoning or time-based nonsense. You played the game and you naturally came across powerful items through your adventures, whether it be going through the main quest or any of the more challenging side quests. In fact, I still get excited when I find a powerful and unique sword +2. These items typically had a longer name and also came with some history and lore as to the origins of the item. I didn't have to farm for schematics and build my own. They just ...were.

I miss those days.

Hate to necro this but I found the thread on a google search. Basically looking for the same thing. Did you ever get your superior prowler armor?

Tried re-zoning, adjusted the time on my system clock too but I'm wondering if it goes on an internal timer separate from the system clock.

I ironically got the superior prowler's armor on my mage (damn you RNG). It seems if you zone out, save, close the game and then connect again the vendor refreshes but I'm not that sure. I'll do more testing later today to confirm this.

Found this mess out myself today. I'm not so keen on the design of the "Superior Prowler Armor" and skipped it the first time I saw it in the canyon traders inventory. Well too bad because now it seems to be gone.

One thing I can probably add to the discussion it what does NOT influence the current inventory with "short list" perk already unlocked:

- restarting the game

- multiple changes of area

- buying something new (marked with *) in another area, then multiple area changes, then back to canyon trader

- buying something new (marked with *) in the same area, then multiple area changes, then back to canyon trader

The only thing that's left is the real time windows clock and obviously I can't test this right away. Well okay I could edit my windows time but instead I'm going to bed now and try again tomorrow, see if this might work. Last chance, otherwise the schematic is probably gone for good.

Thanks Bioware...let us play so long and grind so hard to get these perks, in the end it's a slightly pimped RNG.

Okay, here's my conclusion: After a night sleep the offers of the merchants really did change. No "Superior Prowler Armor" though.

So, it's a bit like a market in real life. Everyday there are some new things. And everything is random. Only real-time has to pass. No area-changing, no game-restart will ever do something predictable. With or without the short-list perk, this is just a RNG at work and with the perk you have a change of winning better gear on the wheel of fortune.
