Yeah a romance this small would just be a tiny blip on the radar.

Damn you both.  I was drinking something when I read this.  Now I need napkins.

*sigh*

A dwarf romance?  Never.  Gaider says dwarf-on-human/elf/kossith romance is like pedophilia or something.

It sounds like I'm kidding, right?  I wish I was kidding.  Believe me I wish that.  (Not that I want or care about a dwarf romance, but pedophilia?!)

He said it only because he sees dwarfs as a children due to their body structure and thus he is disgusted from that idea. So it´s on ice only because of one subjective opinion which is only judging in-game race only by it looks.

Personally I don't get what the attraction towards Harding is

Are heterosexual males so intimidated by tall women that they need to romance a dwarf to make themselves feel big and powerful?

And it's LACE Harding.

Voiced by Ali Hillis (Liara T'Soni of Mass Effect AND Lightning from Final Fantasy XIII).

You know she is MUCH more talkative in this Lets Play than I ever saw her become in my game.  Is all that unlocked by the flirt options, or was I just unlucky in my random responses to "what's new?"

I've only flirted with Harding once, and it was a very innocent flirt which she responded to positively.
In regards to the 'Gaider hates Dwarf romances' I believe that was in reference to a specific scenario back in DAO where the Devs were testing Alistair's romance with a female dwarf who looked unfortunately young. The fact that Dwarves can still participate in romances in DAO and DAI effectively kills the idea that Dwarf romances don't exist because they're considered 'too icky'.
And yes, in the future I would be interested in a Dwarf LI, if I found the character interesting.

Lol you made an entire thread complaining about Cass and how her short hair was too 'manly' for you, hence wanting mods to fix it then tried to cite biology to justify your narrow-minded view of attractive women and are now trying to say "EVER MEN R SCARED OF TALL LADIES, NEED SHORT ONES 4 POWAR MAN FANTASY". But nah, I'm the ignorant one, yeah sure bruh.

Yeah afraid you are going to have to link that thread as I don't remember making a thread or saying anything about Cass being too manly or her short hair, the fact that you also sound like a raving lunatic doesn't help either.

Every time you visit a new wilderness map for the first time (that you had to unlock on the war table) Scout Harding is there to introduce the map.  Generally there is a flirt option in the dialog.  There are a minimum of 10 interactions.  Flirt enough and it appears to unlock the additional dialog back in Skyhold.

I presume you also can't have locked down another romance but that's just speculation.

This member for whatever reason seems to be going on a crusade against heterosexual men. Apparently all men are misogynists towards women. Read from page 3 here onward if you want a good laugh. http://forum.bioware...romances/page-3

IKR?  That crap about guys wanting short girls because it makes them feel manly made me seriously question his mental health.

Oh no wait.

Of all the characters/companions in Inquisition, I think Harding is the one who will make an appearance in the next game.

I like short girls because of physical attraction (honestly that's not me being crude it's simply the truth) I shouldn't have to nor will I feel guilty about it.

I got this impression as well. Certainly helps that she's voiced by Ali Hillis

Frankly, considering Harding has Liara's voice, I'm relieved they didn't just make her the ONLY romance.

Ahh, like a baby snake.  Doesn't know how to control its venom, so it accidentally injects all of it.

That was a more apt analogy than I intended it to be.

Personally I don't get what the attraction towards Harding is

Are heterosexual males so intimidated by tall women that they need to romance a dwarf to make themselves feel big and powerful?

Here is my take on it, and I write this as a straight man in case Harding happened to be a straight romance:

Now, I have no problem with Cassandra and Josephine myself, I romanced Cassandra on my second playthrough and ejoyed it, but one thing is certain about them both; they are "extreme" versions of their type. Josephine is the cute, diplomatic princess type and Cassandra is the stout, determined warrior type. Those are not bad character archetypes, but they hit a very specific place in the groin where people have to find attraction to like them, so some people just find them a bit too much to romance.

Now there we have Harding and she's different because they don't try too hard with making her a certain type of character. Really, she's pretty ordinary. She's a farm girl but she has ambition or else she wouldn't be in the Inquisition. She's funny too, she almost always has a sarcastic comment to match yours and she seems like a person that is very down to earth.

Besides "beating the hole in the sky" we do not know if she has any other motives in life besides seeing the world. Cassandra has the seekers, the seat of the divine. Josephine has her whole noble family and they are both founding members of the Inquisition.

So for some people, at least some men, Harding is a much more approachable girl. I think she seems like a pretty cool chick too.

That does sound rather odd. Especially after the 12-year-old-Merril romance in DA2.

I saw the original quote, and that was certainly the impression I got from it at the time.  If he didn't mean that, it's because he worded his feelings very poorly and not because people are intentionally misquoting him.

This is a pretty good post.  I'd say all of what you said is true...

And add in the fact that there's attraction in what you CAN'T have.  So since she's not an option people want her more.  Same with Vivienne.

As far as Harding goes, I'm kinda with the PA comic on that one. It's not the race issue as much as it is the power gap. On one side you've got the leader of the fastest-rising military and political power in Thedas, who also happens to be the greatest religious icon the land has seen in centuries. On the other side you have a military scout.

I'd be all for a dwarf romance though. Hell, if she's in the next game with a slightly less Jesus-like protag...

Or Varric. Love me, Varric.

I suppose it's worth noting that just about every romance in these games are also the PC's subordinates. Shepard's situation is no different from this, or the Warden, to a small degree. Hawke is the only one that is technically free of this, because s/he is not running an organization and the companions are not obligated to do what s/he says.
