No fps loss between the two. Full looks better. The fps loss from no HBAO to HBAO Full is 5 fps. (60 to 55)

It's hard to see a difference only viewing them in the spoiler window. Copy each image url to paste them into new tabs. You can then view them one after the other and easily spot the differences. One obvious area is the vines on the statue.

Hbao isn't that hard on performance anyway. Put your msaa to 4x and tell me how much it hits you.

It was less about showing performance and more the difference in quality. There doesn't seem to be many pictures comparing quality levels yet, so if this can help someone, all the better.

MSAA hurts big time. In that same spot on maxed settings and 4xMSAA, I get 24fps. In this game, I consider that unplayable. lol

I think I found the perfect settings for the game using 2xMSAA and no noticeable visual hit.

But it's nice to have the option when taking screenshots.

I've been using HBAO because I read it had medium performance impact and HBAO Full had heavy performance impact for very little visual difference. I crank up everything I can get away with so my screenshots look pretty, but haven't tried this yet. Have you tested this in other areas than the one for your shots here?

Since they lay down the horizon based ambient occlusion options as "HBAO or HBAO Full" I will assume they mean "Half or Full AO resolution". So the difference between AO resolutions comes down to higher occlusion samples per pixel creating a richer quality on smaller details, like leaves and grass, aswell as reducing flickering caused by lower resolution. To me HBAO Full hardly does anything to my performance.

Am I... the only one not seeing a difference? I'm not even sure which one is supposed to be the HBAO one and which is the Full. Oh wait, no. The vines. They're... fluffier? HBAO makes vines fluffier?

The shades are darker.
