You know for all the plaudits that Skyrim got I couldn't play it past 20 hours on my PS3. Once the game file got too big the whole thing just froze up. It was that bad I had to go out and buy it on PC. This game is no where near as broken as Skyrim was when it first came out and that is lauded as the best RPG ever by loads of people.

yes, the game has bugs and probably poor design of PC controls. But GOTY are seldom perfect. bugs are everywhere in all past GOTY.
It is the overall effort that have put been into the games in story and level design and the feels the game is giving u. And so far, this game has done so it would be my GOTY.
I would have voted The Last of Us: Remastered if it is even on the list (again).

I think this year, my GOTY is...Planescape Torment ![]()
Seriously though, I would name DAI as my personal GOTY. Then again, i can count the number of 2014-released games that I've played with one hand.

Divinity Original Sin is my current GOTY and Inquisition won't change that.

This are the games that I played this year:
- Shadow of Mordor
- Divinity Original Sin
- Bayonetta
- The Wolf Among Us
- Transistor
- Dragon Age Inquisition
I played all of these games from start to finish without a problem with the exception of Dragon Age Inquisition. I see a lot of people had already finished the game, but i been here waiting patiently for more than two weeks now. Among all the bugs the game have and i have ignored. I am one of the lucky ones that got the gender and voice changer bug. These bugs makes it impossible for me to finish the game. So anyone thinks that Dragon Age deserves my vote?
My game of the year so far are Divinity and Shadow Of Mordor. If Bioware ever fixes the game and i'm able to finish it, i'll see if it is a game of the year or not.

I must be the only living person that would give Blackguards my personal GOTY.
I loved that game, simple story but you could feel the characters.

Take a look at Mass Effect 2 for what poor PC controls ACTUALLY means (in the menus, specifically).
well miraclously ME downloaded in less than 30 hours as promised... I tried the PC version and DIED in the first level like 7 times, IDK the ME2 and ME3 pc controls but if they are worse than 1 then yes PC controls in ME are terrible, good thing i own the game for XBOX360
By the Way I had absolutely no trouble at all with DAI (except for MP that never lets me join and when it does it sends me to a Black Screen of Dead with that green stuff shinning in the lower corner of it) not a single CTD, not flickering or lag issues only one trouble with poligon rendering but that's because my graphic card is underwelming against the entire PC monster i own (plus it has not happened again since i set terrain to low, and everything else in ultra or mid)

Inquisition is easily GOTY for me.
The sheer amount of work put into this game is staggering im 120 hours in and i have so much left to do that it makes me laugh.
It overshadows any game released this year.
How people can vote for a game like Dark Souls 2 over this is simply beyond me as it's not even in the same league.
And yes i know other people have opinions

DA:I my game of the year as well,
Shadow of Modor was a runner up but the gameplay was too similar to the Assassin's Creed Series, i couldn't help but fault its lack of innovation.
Assassin's creed unity I cant comment, i couldnt even run it on my PC so i cant judge it by any standards.
Anyway, those are my opinions.

A lot of these other games are console games so I don't know or care about them, DA:I's only real competition imo was Shadow of Mordor and Far Cry 4.
FC4 is fun but still too much of a rehash. Shadow of Mordor was excellent but not as replayable. DA:I is the first game in 2014 (sadly) that surpassed my expectations and just hooked me and I'm still playing it. Already at 150 hours and still going. Can't wait to start my third playthrough soon and I'm still having fun with the coop with friends.
If Evolve had released this year, DA:I probably would have lost out to it for me (due to Evolve's originality and being asymmetrical) but DA:I is by far the best game this year. There's not even any competition.

It's definitely GOTY candidate, but not a GOTY winner. It may win best RPG though.

Developers can do lazy things, just like anyone else. Remember Tali's face reveal?
They are never gonna live that one down are they?

Good game? Yeah. Goty of the Year? Hardly.
The BSN votes wont matter anyway, it wont even get past the 1st round. Hearthstone player base is just too big.

They're actually lucky the list is that short. I've seen TLOU remastered on a GOTY list and it was slaughtering everything. Wish i had that link now for a reference got it from Bethesda's twitter account. I'm just glad i haven't seen Destiny on any lists yet the last thing we need is for that style of highway robbery to catch on. As faar as TLOU caning other games i think it shows how poor quality games were this year.

Play a game for fun then the only thing that matters is how long it is fun.
130+ hours in and still a lot of fun and a lot to do.
GOTY for DAI!

Low standard? D:OS is one hell of a game, the gameplay, graphics, story, environments, music, all top-notch. Only thing I didn't like was their companions weren't really interesting at all.

I disagree. Combat was superb (and if there was a vote for best combat in a game this year, Divinity:OS would be my winner for sure), but that was it for me. Nothing about the story, characters, world or writing held my interest past the 30 or so hours I spent with the game, and the combat alone wasn't enough to keep me going. I remember the game's opening theme being nice, but I don't remember any other musical track. The environments were fine, but nothing that took my breath away. Stopped playing and haven't felt the urge to go back. Personally, as far as turn-based CRPGs/Kickstarter CRPGs go this year, I found both Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun Returns (particularly Dragonfall) far more compelling.
I haven't exactly played a ton of new games this year - Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun Returns, Murdered: Soul Suspect, JULIA: Among the Stars remake, Sims 4 and Inquisition are the only new releases.
Also played Gone Home, Papers Please, Beyond Good and Evil, Arkham: Origins, TLOU, the Blackwell games and Gemini Rue.
DAI is definitely my GOTY - I love Skyhold, I love the companions and their quests (all of them, which is unusual for me), I love exploring the gorgeous world, I love all the customisation, and I've been fortunate I guess and haven't experienced many bugs (playing on PC). I have had, and am still having, a great time. It isn't perfect - main story feels a bit short in all that length, and the tactical combat and camera and PC UI could do with some work, but still, the positives far outweigh the negatives for me.
My top three this year are
1. DAI
2. Wasteland 2
3. TLOU (I know it wasn't released this year, but I only played it this year, so I'm having it). If it has to be games released this year, then Shadowrun: Dragonfall.

What the devil is TLOU?
Divinity OS, reminds me very much of DAI in as much as it's a con. Lovely painted shell with nothing inside.
