The innovation in the Nemesis System is a huge, huge deal. They took a lot from Batman, the game does stand out as innovation, due to the nemesis system. It wasn't just one little aspect of innovation, it was a huge one. To me it lasted quite a lot, considering the genre. The nemesis system certainly added a lot to its juice. To me, I think more difficulty levels would have made a big difference, though the game is still very good, even with just one difficulty, something that cannot be said of AC's noob exclusivity.
As for DA: I, it has the combination of elements I've been waiting for. It's a party-based action-RPG with weapon skills and a big importance applied to real time combat. It also has a huge innovation in how it deals with no-healing. Other recent games had limitted healing and DA: I was wise to take this path. The thing is: DA: I has improved upon the other games that took this path, mainly Dark Souls and Lightning Returns. Barrier and Guard are very innovating and straight up genius mechanics. Oh... and I also dreamed of a singleplayer game that had an MP mode focused on dungeon crawling. In MMOs you endure a terrible latency and lame graphics just to see people running around. In DA: I the players are put together only when it really matters. This allows the singleplayer to remain lag free and have good graphics. DA: I went in the direction of my dreams and went beyond.
