The Inquisitor still will be the next main character in the next Dragon Age Game.

These games are about the world as opposed to any one character so I fully expect the next game to have a different protagonist.

Hmm I think it's likely that we see a new protagonist, but Inquisition feels more like a beginning in many ways rather than an end. Maybe a substantial expansion can wrap things up properly.

It definitely feels like a beginning. Pretty much the whole point of the game seems to be to establish the Inquisition as a power, and there is is no other way it can turn out, plus no major characters die(and the one that does half way through the game, whoever you decide on, cuts another tie to a previous game). It feels like the start of a series to me... And I hope it is.

Hear me out in this guys, and tell me your opinions.

If the game happens in the dragon age era, because of the power of the Inquisition there is no way to not feel the power of it, in all Thedas, mainly in the south. Only if the game is idk, 30-40 years after the events of Inquisition(in case almost all the main cast of the will be dead or be very old), will we have a new main character. Maybe if the game is located this time in the north part of Thedas, perharps too.

But i think after the well of sorrows stuff, even if the inquisitor don't drink it for it, he/she will be crucial to stop Solas/Flemeth or any other old god.

Plus i think it will be much easier for bioware to continue the story of the Inquisitor.

What you guys think?

I could see it.

I know that Bioware has made no promise to continue using the same characters and have never done so before but that does not mean they will not keep the same protagonist ever. With all the talk about the future and what is going to happen next I felt like the Inquisitions story was being left open for future exploration.

Of course they could plan on wrapping things up in future DLC or an expansion as well.

Of course things are going to be left open. You don't just blow it up for finality.

Unless you're DA2, but that was a bad thing.

Unfortunately an expansion is not in the cards.

Given that, I hope the next game does star the Inquisitor.

Of course, I had to bring up DLC at some point. People are rightfully wary of EA's influence, and Darrah noted that they are going to mostly going to listen to fan demand to shape post-game support. Although he wasn't able to confirm anything, DLC will likely be comprised of sandboxes -- large new areas that players can wander around and complete a main quest in, but also find sidequests for. There isn't going to be another expansion like Awakening though, sadly. Darrah said that it was "far too much work, and very expensive, as everything has to interact with the original game."

Maybe the Inquizzy will send out an agent and we will end up playing as that person he/she will end up being a hero in there own right

Ah okay.  That makes me a little sad, but I'll be satisfied with sandbox type areas to explore and complete.  Just give me good story content to go along with it.   :D

There is no way we will be the same protagonist but there is a chance that we could be the next Inquisitor leading the same Inquistion a ways into the future.

Or they can simply make some DLC to continue the story of DAI.

Northern Thedas would be a good Expansion to the storyline for DLCs. :P

Though I wonder how many new areas per DLC storyline since I don't quite see 1 or 2 new area per DLC storyline working. Maybe 3 or 4 new areas to fit into a good amount for a new DLC Storyline.

I wouldn't complain regardless if we got a new protagonist or if we continued with the Inquisitor with the next game.

The main reason why I think I'd want to play as the Inquisitor again is just that the Inquisitor's story doesn't feel finished. There were also some things that felt like they were foreshadowing something relating to the Inquisition but it's very likely just wishful thinking on my part.

I have to say, that is really unfortunate. If it is true and that the DLC is primarily going to be new areas added to the game then I think I will pass on the DLC this time around. That is unless they have stories implemented into those areas, much like Legacy. I don't really find myself interested in areas populated with more fetch quests if that's what they choose to do with SP DLC.

I'm thinking more like an Awakening style expansion  EDIT: Scratch that, apparently a link up there reveals that's not gonna happen. Well fine, Inquisition 2 with Hawke and some of the best DA2 characters as companions! ....I can dream.

When DA2 was first coming out I was miffed at the idea of a new main character in each iteration of the series. But I've since come around to it, because really it allows for more varied stories to be told. I'm also one of those freaks who likes DA2.

I think the ending of DA:I (after the credits) is a bit too significant to be resolved with a single DLC. I am thinking we would need a full-length game to deal with that revelation, however, even though I'd prefer it, it doesn't mean we'll be playing the inquisitor again.

I'd like to play as Inquisitor again. I think I like her more than Warden and Hawke. If the game moves to the northern Thedas it's still OK, for example the Inqusitor can go there to establish new branch of Inquisition or some problem will need her/his attention.

With the revelation that there won't be a post-campaign expansion pack, I really hope that the epilogue's hints are foreshadowing DA4 with us as the Inquisitor rather than another "continue Shepard's story with DLC" thing they did in ME3.

Just because there isn't going to be an awakening styled expansion doesn't mean there won't be post game story related DLC.

I think it would be unendingly cruel not to give Solasmancers at least something like Witch Hunt.

People were pretty upset about how the morrigan romance ended in DAO, and look at how that turned out now. It's too early for them to talk about story related DLC, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't any at all. It's just a matter of when. DLC is doable, they've done it before. An expansion like Awakening was very large, I can see why they wouldn't want to pour resources into that. I'm fine settling with story based DLC.

ME3 had 2 story related DLCs, then the 3rd was a final send off. I could see them doing something like that with DAI.

From what I've seen on the Solas thread, most of us just want closure. Not even a happy ending, just the answers promised for our characters. Otherwise it feels like a loose end. You're right though, it is too early. I just saw that and felt a little 'icky' at the idea that we might not be getting more than map packs. However, it did say 'main quests and side quests', so the main quest could very well be the story driven aspect of the DLC. I hope you're right.

I dunno. I really do think that they might keep the Inquisitor for at least one more game. They're starting to run into "too many heroes" syndrome. They've got this great, extended cast now. Why not make use of them? At least until the hanging plot threads are dealt with (elven gods arc, presumably). Then for the next game you go somewhere completely different with little to no cameos from previous games.

Well there is already a story/adventure dlc planned which is coming to xbox first. But I'm sure there will be more.

Which is why going north would fit, because so far every one of our heroes have been in the south. Going north basically allows them to have sort of a clean slate, the only returning character we might see is Dorian. There's no reason for any other companion/characters in DAI and before to show up in northern thedas outside of reference.
