The Inquisitor still will be the next main character in the next Dragon Age Game.

I hope not. The Inquisitor is even more boring than Hawke was. That is quite a feat since we got to pick between several races this time around. The followers are very good, though. I care more about them than the main character.

I love all the my PCs. The Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor. I would love for us to wrap up the story of the Inquisitor in DLCs or Expansion packs, doesn't matter.

I want to go North so bad. Par Vollen, Tevinter, Antiva! All waiting for us. I remember back when a lot of us wanted to go to Orlais. We don't get to explore everything but I think we heard enough of "The Game" to know what Orlais's style and customs are. I want to experience the rest of Thedas. No matter how attached we are to our characters, the beauty of Dragon Age is exploring Thedas.

lol we really got to move on from Ferelden and I love Alistair!

It is a bummer that they aren't looking at a large sized expansion pack at this point. I really do hope they tie up at least Solas and the Warden stuff in some DLC. The ending was good with a great cliffhanger, but to blow the lid on the story right at the end only to wait another 3 or 4 years for the next game to tie it up seems like a really bad idea.

Finish up Solas/Flemeth (to a point anyway) and the Warden conflict (because seriously, I don't want annnnnnother civil war in DA4) and then move on from the Inquisitor. Hopefully the whole anchor thing will be finalized to sum degree too, or at least a bit more information surrounding that.

Da4 will be an MMO. Mark my words. DA:I was the beta version of it.

Concerning Solas, he will be used in the DLC to prepare the players to their travels to the North, even if the Inquisitors would have to remain in the South and would instead send a member of the Inquisition (like Scout Harding) to follow Solas trail. The Dread Wolf has to go and rally the elven slaves in Tevinter if he wants to return to the glorious days of Arlathann.

As for both the HoF and the Wardens, they strike me as DLC, the former to finally wrap up the history of Southern Thedas and the second to prepare the travel to the North, with a progression which would be :

Return of a Legend (the HoF or Warden-Commander comes back from his/her travels to the West, and the Inquisitor has to help, because both darkspawns and Wardens attack him/her), followed by the Weisshaupt DLC (where we would get to play Hawke or his Warden friend while they travel to Weisshaupt and would end foreshadowing the "civil war" of the Wardens, with possibly the return of the one trapped into the Fade, or at least glimpses of his fate) and finally Wolf Hunt.

The Inquisitor most likely.

The reason they said it was that The Warden was non-voiced ( and utter imbecile to boot so good riddance ) and thus adding a voice to him/her wouldn't really work since making a non-voiced character voiced destroys that character that players built in their heads.

Hawke was clearly supposed to be the Inquisitor, but they abandoned that idea after they discovered that people viewed DA 2 as utter **** and hated Hawke.

Inquisition is a good game with the best protagonist to date with excellent picks for voice actors.

Well a lot of people did hate DA 2(still not all) but everybody hated Hawke?? Thats new to me, for me even if i like my Inquisitor i still think that Hawke has better personality.

I have to admit, when I finished the game, I felt somewhat certain that we would indeed be seeing the Inquisitor again as a major protagonist in the next game, for a variety of reasons:

- Story wise:

- Both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 felt very contained. Origins obviously had a multitude of endings with various degrees of finality (such as if your warden died. Not much to go on there for them). Dragon Age 2, even though it left a cliffhanger, more or less completed Hawke's story. The cliffhanger was entirely for the Inquisitor's benefit, and did very little for Hawke, as far as stories go. Inquisition, however, left a very vague ending that did not truly close the story of the Inquisitor, particularly if you were a Lavellan elf romancing a certain somebody.

- The team behind Dragon Age does seem to like picking new protagonists, but I feel that has more to do with the hassle of using old ones, rather than a plan they came up with over a decade ago (because I think we can agree connecting the Warden and all their endings would have been a nightmare beyond imagining had they chosen to try a continuation instead of switching to Hawke). Additionally, that's going to be a fairly large number of ultimate badasses running around Thedas, depending on your decisions. If we had a fourth protagonist, I'd almost just want to make a mage warden, rogue Hawke, warrior Inquisitor, and whatever new guy and just call that my team. Even in Dragon Age: Inquisition, I was seriously questioning why my warden and Hawke weren't teaming up with my Inquisitor for the ultimate display of badassery (thinking head canonically, tough I understand why they couldn't play a bigger role).

Business wise:

- Even though they're separate divisions of Bioware (as far as I understand), they can't ignore the success of Mass Effect, which did involve a continued protagonist. So for this reason alone, it wouldn't surprise me if they were considering continuing the story of one character, given that we as a fanbase have a serious problem falling in love with the people we create and those we dungeon crawl with.

- I believe they weren't considering an expansion, given that the time/effort involved made the venture not worth it, but there's certainly still threads to be tied back into the main story. So one option might extended DLC, such as DA2's Legacy, or DA:O's Witchhunt. The only issue with this is that what they have to wrap up seems colossal, story wise, far bigger than a simple DLC can cover adequately. I have no doubt there will be DLC, but I have a feeling the majority of them will take place pre-final battle.

And some final thoughts/ramblings:

The ending of DA:I felt a lot like the ending of Mass Effect 2. Regardless of your decisions (with the exception of the failure one could only seemingly achieve if they actually tried for it), you defeated the bad guy. But he clearly wasn't the baddest guy around. Another thing of note is the graphics engine. Perhaps I am wrong, but I get the feeling they intend to stick with the Frostbite for a while, and if so, transferring over an Inquisitor's face doesn't seem too long a stretch. It would certainly have better results than Alistair and Zevran crossing from DAO to DA2 :P

I have no doubt I'll preorder and play their next game (as well as buy all their DLC), but I sincerely hope they consider extending the playable life span of the Inquisitor! It would be a fun new direction and I'd like to see where it would go, considering we've played the formula of "new hero meets new friends and defeats bad guys". Imagine your character actually NOT being single at the start of a game. What a concept :P

it's called dlc. And remember, witchhunt ended in a cliff hanger as well.

how about the new age finally ?

A new age would be a new franchise altogether. Nug Age: Origins. Calling it now.

Also, I don't think this universe can really survive zipping too far off into the future. I mean, how long is it going to look like medieval shenanigans across the ages?

DLC cannot adequately cover the ending events of Inquisition. At least, not without skimping out on A TON. As for Witchhunt, this is just my personal opinion, but I felt the cliffhanger there was much less...dramatic than Inquisiton's. Witchhunt was just kind of like "ah okay...into the mirror....for stuff...yep" whereas I found the ending of Inquisition to be more like "What whaaaaat-what-what." (Just my personal take on it though)

Though I don't think the Inquisition will return in DA4, I hope they'll making an expansion they'll warp up not only the Inquisitor, but also the other characters in the DA series. I feel like they have too many characters with unconcluded stories they'll probably get more convoluted and unfinished as the series continues, like with the ME series.

I don't mind playing a new guy. But I don't want this to be one big pissing contest between our previous PCs and their accomplishments. We don't need our new characters in competition with our previous. I don't mind being a low key nobody

*Looks at witch hunt.

Yes it can.

And anything would be less dramatic compared to the revelation of the dread wolf but Witch hunt is the proper end of dao. It was a warning for things to come. Heck, it even had Eleni Zinovia, the stone prophetess, predict Cory's release and the breach.

Witchhunt didn't actually explain anything! It just gave people an opportunity to see Morrigan again, decide their opinion of her, and hear her say warnings (and come on, the warnings weren't a surprise at all. She'd never go "heyyy stuff seems to be actually working isn't that just crazy"

Well I don't mind if there's a valid reason for the Inquisition to head north. Perhaps the problem with the wardens up north blew up bigger than anyone would have thought and someone yelled for help from the Inq. Otherwise, I really hope they wrap up the Inquisition more or less properly in DLCs.

Neather did the ending of dai....Thus cliff hanger. And of course the warnings were not a surprise, it was just a look to the future. That was the point of the dlc.

Yes, Inquisition didn't explain anything about the ending. Hence, why it must continue in some fashion. I just feel that a DLC wouldn't do a very good job of covering all the lore that's been brought up, particularly since if a player wasn't inclined to ever read codex entries, they might have little idea who the major characters were. I never though witchhunt was a necessary dlc following the ending of Origins. I do, however, feel that Inquisition's cliffhanger ending needs at least something. And I worry that DLC won't cover it in the manner it deserves. Regardless, the decision is up to Bioware, so it's not like what I say affects anything, I just have misgivings if they intend to use a DLC to try to cover what happened.

What? Normally to play this dlc you need the main game. No one does standalone expansions any more. Yes, dlc is not really nessary but it general does explain more of what is going on with games like dao. If you did play witch hunt, Dao:a and the ME DLC'S  you'll no that with bw games. Other then that it just explained in the next game.

Think more of a concept of a book then a game.

I wonder what the Keep for the Joe Nobody game would even look like. How do you not play the big hero at the center of the conflict, and still know what the conflict is truly about? Imagine if we played some random person in Inquisition, and the Inquisitor was off doing whatever. Would we even know it was Corypheus? Would it matter? We wouldn't know about the ancient elves, or Mythal, or whatever else. Fade rifts would just start being closed and we'd just hear about it. Maybe if we're lucky we'd witness one being closed while hauling ass away from demons. We'd just be some guy fighting for our lives for 30+ hours. In the words of Bart Simpson: Meh.

I understand that DLC is meant to flesh out the main game's story. I simply didn't feel that Witchhunt added all that much. I still enjoyed it, so it's not like I wish they hadn't done it, I just don't think it really brought much we couldn't have figured out on our own. But I digress, I've led us off the main topic's subject (my apologies). I simply hope the next DA game features the Inquisitor, as I'd love to have a full game devoted to continuing where Inquisition left off without having to set up a whole new character, or have the explanation watered down due to time constraints.

This thread is really...cute...

Funny...and cute.

Truth is:  the DLC will obviously be about the Inquisitor, but don't plan on getting future installments.

Applying any sort of logic to what Bioware plans for the future of the franchise is futile.

Not trying to rain on people's parade, but just remember what was said on this topic when you're all creating the "I'm disappointed that DA:Next didn't have the Inquisitor in it..." etc threads.

But that would break the proud tradition of coming from zero-to-hero or nobody-to-OMGSOPOWERFUL trope Bioware so fond of.
