On another note, UH!  If Kaidan comes back at Garrus' expense I will spit red hot coals.  I hope those guys get Kaidan back and we get Garrus.  I don't want to compete, and I REALLY, REALLY don't want to lose.

Amen. I know that it's more than likely that one group will be left holding the bag while the other gets all the goodies but I really hope that everyone gets their way for ME3. It's the end of the trilogy, they could at least throw us all a bone right? D:

I'd say Garrus has at least one thing going for him.  He's about 1000x more popular than Kaidan overall.  Most guys Virmire Kaidan, but Garrus is a #1 or #2 ranked character for wingman/bromance/etc.  Overall, more people will be happier if Garrus comes back than with Kaidan.

It's a shame that it has to end but I will enjoy ME3 what ever comes. I believe that all the old charactors will be back and as such we will have a large team to choose from. I only hope that the romance will be well written like it was in ME2 and we can get to keep Garrus. After all the things the poor guy has gone through he deserves Shepard I think. Well heres hoping and heres to Garrus. The face of Mass Effect.

Yea, I'm not trying to start a fight or anything.  I know this thread is notorious for its civility.  I've just been spoiled by ME2.  What is that deal in Cold Mountain with that old blind guy?  Someone asks him what he would give to have his eyes for ten minutes, and he says he wouldn't give a turd.  Being able to see for ten minutes and then having your eyes taken away is in some ways worse than never seeing a thing.  I would sort of feel like that if the Garrus and Talimance just vanished in favor of ME1 LIs.  It doesn't help that I thought those guys were all uber boring.  Ok, I'm being such a downer.  I'll shut up now.  Honestly, part of me still expects to wake up and all that "'Garrus as a real LI" stuff will turn out to be a dream.

If the ME2 romances in general get shafted in favor of Ash/Kaidan/Liara, I swear I'll explode. You'll see a news report the day ME3 comes that the greater Boston area is just gone.

Does anybody else remember hearing about some kind of datamining feature in ME2 or the Cerberus Network where Bioware was cataloging the most popular decisions and would add stuff to ME3 based on that? I definitely remember it being mentioned in pre-release info, whatever happened to it?

Well, the human body does still get some use out of those organs, but I think it safe to say that they aren't "mandatory" for survival.  I think it equally safe to say that turians wouldn't be completely at a loss if they lost one or both of their vestigial digits. XD

Maybe it all has to do with mating.

"Jeez, look at the size of his spurs. Maybe I need to start reading more of that junk mail I get on my extranet account"

Funny, all in all, but it's likely a matter of balance as to why the turians have kept those spurs. YEARS ago I did a gargoyle costume for cosplay/conventions/LARP and had a hell of a time keeping balance on the toes/balls of my feet for it, even with some (potentially reusable for a turian costume, hmmmmmm) boots I'd made. On a lark, I added some spur-like growths to the lower leg along the side to match something I'd done on the elbows, jutting out and up and all serrated and stuff.  I'll have to doublecheck on the material I used but I want to say it was a cannibalized fishing pole for the 'bones' and some molded kryolan latex. I used a couple of small, gumball-sized lead fishing weights at the ends of the 'bones' to keep things steady. ...and discovered that walking and balance totally changed. In fact, I was able to successfully run in that costume, with those modifications, during Big Epic Chase Scene for a LARP without damaging the costume or my legs.

@Ms. Clarissa: The balance thing makes the most sense out of anything I've heard so far. I mean, with how their bodies are shaped and weight is distributed, maybe those spurs do serve a purpose like that.

That's interesting. So what biological function do the humpbacks serve? Do they store stuff in there like a krogan or camel. Also I know this thread isn't about kroga, but isn't krogan 280 vision somewhat defeated by that massive hump on their back? There head is like sunk into their chest. Something similar is going on with turians. It really seems like it would impede vision.

Also, what do you think turians other senses are like? Do you think they have heightened smell, taste, hearing, etc.?

And one more, how do their scales affect their tactile ability? What do you think a soft squishy human feels like to a turian? Raises some interesting questions. Chafing on our side *insert Mordin throat clearing here* what's the turian thinking on their end? (My mind is a sordid place_

I'm fairly certain Bioware will make sure each and every character has a strong presence in the final chapter.

...And if they don't, I'll get a job there and make sure it happens. It's the last chapter, they have so much potential to make the best game ever.

I guess that is the reason why. As palaven has a poor metal core and the gravity is low, they would maybe have evolved along the line of sleek predators and used the spurs for balance on low grav planets. On heavier gravity planets they must be less usful. Hmmm, yes I believe that is correct. So we have the collars sorted and the spurs. I guess the next part is Turian junk.

You can see what I presume are Turian tongues in ME1 for sure. I can't remember which Turian now, but I was trying to look into his mouth (what? :innocent:) and saw what I guess would say looks kinda like a parrot tongue with faint bioluminescent trails. I was trying to determine if Turians could extend their tongues. It wouldn't surprise me if they couldn't.

Like a landing strip?!   Can we say "bioluminescent happy trail", people?

*Edit - @Von Verrikan - thanks for the screenie!  Awww, they have dark tongues like chow chow dogs.

Wow, I'm glad I checked this thread again tonight, just for this. where's a blushing emoticon when you need one ;) (this one doesn't capture it right ---> it's a little too 6th grader thinking about leonardo dicaprio)

Clearly! But then his face was so gash-durned impressed with its smooth missile stopping expression that it kind of just exploded from the awesome anyway. So sad.

Anyone else think that Garrus went to talk to Mordin A LOT before the romance scene? I mean, some of Mordin's lines are specifically tailored for what happened in Garrus' scene.

"Less alcohol and mood music required."

Guess who brings alcohol and mood (albeit inappropriately lulzy) music? Garrus. Who's the only one who says they "should've watched the vids"? Garrus. I don't know, maybe my fangirl goggles are on too tight (likely) but it just seems highly coincidental how Garrus is the only one that brings said items to Shepard's cabin.

Jacob does bring a nice six pack with cheese, though. *cough*

ooo, good observations. I love the paragon interrupt where Shep shuts down the club music....it's like...DENIED.  And I thought it was clever how they turn that wine bottle into one of the more emotional moments in the game (for me the garrus fangirl anyway), the way it zooms in on it as he's truding out of the room when you turn him down (but of course I only know this from youtube, I would NEVER....nope...)

The other day I was checking some random turian screenshots, examining the diferent body types and outfits, and finally determined that these bulky armors and collars must be like that because of fashion, and tradition.

At first I thought that maybe the neck-thing was so high to protect a softer area in the neck, or because there was an equivalent protuberance there. But seeing other turians, and seeing Garrus in civilian clothes, there is apparently no reason for that, or for the bulky shoulders (not complaining). Maybe it's just a matter of what impression they want to make,

Hey, look at our own fashion xD. But I was specially reminded of those white neck-thingies so popular in portraits of knights and kings...

btw, not derailing the thread (hopefully), just saying.

I also think Garrus went to Mordin.  ( I would give my arm, my leg, and part of my soul to see THAT conversation!) The one I can't figure out is that if you hit on Jacob while the Garrusmance is on Jacob also knows about it.  I always thought the Garrus thing was kind of subtle and that the rest of the  crew didn't know until close to the suicide mission or even after (or maybe they didn't even know then.)  Do you think Garrus asked Jacob something or are we just not nearly as sneaky as we thought we were?

Thane knew about me and Garrus too.  He said "I sense I'm not foremost in your mind.  Before we can [go steady] you must decide who it is you truly want" or something like that.  But it would make more sense for Thane to know than Jacob, I can at least envision them having conversations about sniper rifles or something, and Thane's a pretty intuitive guy, maybe he could just figure it out.  Garrus is so adorably nervous around Shep (as he admits..) that even if the devs don't have time to include that kind of content I'd say we're allowed to read between teh lines.  I still can't see Jacob really being that perceptive though.  Maybe Kelly snitched because she's Cerberus....(and jealous! oooooo....I should have told that **** I'd drop her in a trust fall haha)

MOAR GARRUS FACTS:

*Garrus Vakarian had all his internal organs removed because they were "just slowing him down."
*Garrus Vakarian once ate five entire pots of Sergeant Gardner's calamari gumbo in an hour. He spent the first 45 minutes having sex with Crewman Goldstein.
*Garrus Vakarian once sniped a man so hard, his body went back in time and hit the ground five minutes earlier.
*Garrus Vakarian can calibrate a gun so well, it needs a cigarette afterward.
*Saren only killed himself so he'd be spared the wrath of Garrus Vakarian
*Garrus Vakarian was actually on the ground when the Virmire nuke went off. He later complained things felt too drafty.
