I spent my last playthrough watching him, hanging around for a bit and waiting for him to shoot at me, but I never noticed him do it. And I didn't want to wait too long and ruin the continuity so I gave up.  Next time, I will get one of Garrus's rounds in my ass, mark my words.:P

I'm sure the innuendo was intentional.

That being said, I leave the thread with a bit of a BUMP just a bit before the site is down for maintenance.

DAMN, I missed that perfect "that's what she said" moment!  His shot knocked my shields down completely and took me down to 50% health.  Let's hope a possible allergic reaction to his...ahem...actual "shot" does not produce the same results.  Though that would be pretty funny bedroom talk: "SHIELDS ARE DOWN!"

Oh God, thanks for ruining all of Garrus's battle chatter forever.

"Right behind you, Shepard"

"Never saw me comin'!"

"Scoped and dropped!"

"Shepard's hit!"

Most of them aren't even that bad really, but now the thought's in my head, and it'll never go away.

Hahaha, if Garrus was more of an ass I could see him chatting it up with the male crew members, making a gesture at FemShep when she enters across the room, and snickering "Totally scoped and dropped that".

New goal in life: Use that IRL.  My friend (one who tries to keep my ME mania in check) will slap me for it, but it'll be worth it.

Ha!  A work friend and I were at a party this weekend, and for some reason (I think it was the alcohol, har) we both started talking to each other like elcor.

Dismayed observation: Someone ate all the pigs in a blanket.

Hold on.  Cannot stop laughing. XD

...

All right, I'm ok. WHEEEW.

But I am so jealous of you right now; having someone who'll talk like an elcor with you. Win. WIN WIN WIN.

Oh yea, let me tell you, our non-ME friends just loooove it when we break out into nerdgasms.  Image IPB

Even funnier is that my co-worker started the whole thing, but he could not get it right to save his life.  He'd say something like:
Yummy: I love mojitos.
And it's like, gah!  "Yummy" is not an emotion!

Thank you, I wasn't able to summon him and that was the reason I continued the game. :)

Eradyn wrote...Good, glad to hear it worked. Yeah, it seems like the "continue on" option might be a little buggy(?), or at least incomplete.  Heck, no one acknowledges that you're in a relationship (lookin' at you, Garrus) or that you've just finished your Collector Base mission (lookin' at you, everyone else). :P

I second that; I had Garrus with me on the final mission and I thought a word or a look would say a lot. Singleminded fighting and calibrating machine! Seriously, I hope that ME3 adds some to that aspect, little moments that reflect the love interest bond.

I never thought he would be an LI in ME2;  I really liked him in ME1 and it was wonderful to have him back and then some. In ME1, he seemed unfinished, just like Bao Dur from KOTOR games... it seemed like he had more to say yet never said it, no matter how many times we talked.

I intended to wait for Kaidan but after Horizon and then Garrus' presence, well, I had to follow Shep's heart.

This would be completely out of character for him, but I'd like to hear him brag to everyone else that he's "hittin dat." Not in a chauvinistic way, of course, just...proud to have the most bad ass woman on his arm, you know?

This probably stems from my deep desire to just rub it in Alenko's face. A quip about it from Garrus to Kaidan just seems far too cruel, though. "Like fresh snow, Kaidan. Fresh. Snow."

...hot and sexy shirtless-for-science fight ensues.

You know, the more I think about it, the more I want to make an ME1 playthrough romancing Kaiden just so I can see the eventual confrontation about Garrus and for the sheer pleasure of cheating on him muahahaha.

I'm totally doing that myself. I just thought that Liara wasn't much of a jealous girl to put up a fight for Shepard (although she changed a lot after Shepard's death, but probably overcame the tragedy and moved on, as she didn't react in a "horizonish" way). For the first time I saw Alenko in ME1 I though he wasn't a pretty boy at all, just plain boring, and didn't even chat with him in the ship. I'll hit on him if that'll lead him to an interesting conversation with his "rival".

I'm positive the first LI will have something to say in ME3, since they stepped aside in ME2 for the sake of the new ones. Maybe they won't be all squadmates, but I'm pretty sure they will play a role.

How do you think Garrus would react to previous love interests? I'm not certain whether he would limit territory with Alenko/Liara, or just be passive and let Shepard solve it the way she desires. Nevertheless, I'm sure it's in his character to talk to her privately, in a calm soft and distant voice, and tell her that it's okay, that he'll accept whatever she chooses and be "right behind you, Shepard" -secretly anguished by the resolution.

From the male Shep perspective, I wanted Garrus to "bro up" a little more to my Shepard. Like how Thane and Jacob did (actually Jacob has a "we are bros" loop dialogue at the end). You get like one "thanks Shepard" and him bragging about one of his sexual conquest after his loyalty mission and that's all. True, unlike Samara and Thane it was not like he was a novelty (we already know his back story), but still, one or two more convos where Shep and Garrus buddy up would have been cool. I saw Garrus as one of the few my Shepard trusted from the start (as I earned their loyalty, they too had to earn my Shepards). Garrus was the one that had my Shepard's trust from the very beginning.

Whew, I dunno, Liara's kickin' serious ass in ME: Redemption. She's kinda scaring me.   To the point where I'd worry for Garrus much more if she were the jilted lover than if Kaidan were. I can hear it now:
Liara: "Blowing off steam", you say. I see.  Shepard, out of respect for you I'm going to give fair warning: I'm going to find that turian...and when I do, what's left of him won't fit in a coffee cup.
Shepard: ...OKAY THEN. :blink:I have to, ah...make a call. *gets on the helmet radio* GARRUS. Listen--what?  NO, IT CAN'T WAIT FOR A LITTLE BIT, **** YOUR CALIBRATIONS.

How do you think Garrus would react to previous love interests? I'm not certain whether he would limit territory with Alenko/Liara, or just be passive and let Shepard solve it the way she desires. Until Garrus gets some serious affirmation on Shepard's part (Come on, ME3!!!), I think he's always going to be hesitant in the back of his mind.  He's a good man, and there's a part of him that's always going to wonder if Shepard wouldn't be better off with a member of her own species, despite what he wants.

So I think you're right:  he'll be the more reserved of the two LI's; making his interest clear but also respectfully indicating that he'll be all right with whatever Shepard wants (even though we all know it would crush the poor guy to have to give her up oh dear sad thought please go away.)

The other LI is the one who will probably push harder. I didn't even think that kind of reaction was possible for Kaidan (watching the youtube video of his Horizon appearance surprised me; I had no idea he was capable of more than two emotions! Cookies for Kaidan!!!) but he's apparently angry now.  So it seems like he'll be the more emotionally aggressive of the two, he's been through a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, but in the end they'll probably both have some form of "it's your decision" dialogue if a choice has to be made.

(Don't get me wrong: I'd LURVE for Garrus to get a little possessive of Shepard, stake a little claim.  'Bout time he has a little happiness and I'd love to seem him try to fight for it instead of just letting it slip by.)

(In other news, I abuse parentheses.  I have no regrets.)

Edited for some coherency fail.

So after spending, I dunno, a week and a half hanging around the forums, I actually picked up and played "Mass Effect 2" again.

I have to admit, after reading this thread for a bit, Garrus's recruitment mission felt so much more awesome. I'm completely looking forward to Infiltrator FemShep and Garrus getting matching sniper rifles.

(And people are completely right about the forced Jacob romance. I looked at my three dialogue options, and there was no "I should go." Thanks for the armor upgrade, Jacob, I'll be by when your loyalty quest opens up!)

@Siltsonata & Milady495a - Having romanced Kaidan in 95% of my ME1 playthroughs (and being a general fan of him, despite Horizon) I can see him being very remorseful towards his behavior in ME2.  I also see him as being more accepting of the whole interspecies romance thing over Ashley, but that doesn't mean that I don't want a confrontation between him & Garrus - I just don't think it'll be an aggressive one.  By the time of FemShep's "death" her & Kaidan's relationship would have been only a month or so old, anyways, and I'm still not sure whether or not the rest of the crew was aware of it (though Kelly & TIM seemed to...).

@ComTrav - I've been meaning to do a second playthrough with my MainShep, but this time I want to try taking Garrus through the quarantine zone for the additional dialogue.  I'm just glad the loyalty system doesn't work like Dragon Age, though, because then I'd be worried I'd get negative points from him!  Image IPB

@siltsonata: Yeah, exactly what I thought. What I meant about Liara is that she managed to establish her goals and continue with her life better than Alenko did -I believed that because of the reception of Shepard after 2 years. Liara minded her own business and didn't make any scene as Alenko did.

If you think about it, the whole Alenko-Shepard-Garrus, it would be awesome if Garrus acknowledged his "devotion" to Shepard from ME1, bordering love. At least, it was how I saw the relationship back then. There was something going on, but it was self-limited to companionship, even more if the commander had a relationship with another crew member. Now that he's got a chance to make it meaningful, to water their feelings, it would be not out of character at all for him to put up a fight, always stylishly, of course. (In my universe) he was already split up with Shepard when she died, when it still was surreptitious and unspoken, too much close a friendship, and lost his chance. To me, his derailment after the loss of the commander makes more sense this way, understanding their first quest together as the beginning of a loyalty and trust beyond what is usual among soldiers. It's about time he risks to get out of his shell and speaks openly =)

Btw: I think we've got a great thread, but it'll be always overwhelmed by the number of male-players who fancy other LIs. It'd be nice to see the amount of players of both genres, but I don't think it'll be a surprise to find out that they've got the numbers -and we Garrus' reach!

I don't know if I could take the kind of activity the Tali-thread gets - it would take me an entire night to read all of the new posts, only to discover an additional 30+ new pages when I'm done.  Quality over quantity, I say.  Image IPB

I can no longer hear/read the word calibrations without thinking (very) dirty garrus-related thoughts.

For example - I was looking at prices for Win7 (since my 'release candidate' is about to expire) and saw an ad for "calibrators".

...I'm sure you can imagine where my mind went

Yeah, for me it's preferable this way, but I am concerned about getting the attention of the game developers on our wishes for ME3. I did not follow too closely the first thread in ME1 about Garrus, how much attention did it get? Was it a minority group or rather extensive?
