Anyone have a link to Jacob's rejection scene? It's the only one I can't track down on youtube (I think I just fail at searching). But anyway...of the three choices for FemShep, I still maintain that Garrus has the most meaningful relationship. With him, it's all or nothing, ladies (and gents ). I like to think of the Garrus romance the same way the Vanguard class is described.
High risk. High reward.
Hilarity ensues!
Okay.. I admit it.. I'm not a fan of the way Jacob's model looks, especially with the way his mouth moves, but I wasn't expecting the "I love you" bit. I swooned a little *hides her face behind her hands* Don't hurt me.

Yeah, it's nice that at least one of the LI's says the Big Three...but then...Garrus says the Big Three in his own way, I think. Every "I'll be here if you need me," every "right behind you," is an "I love you." ^^ Or at least that's what my fangirling heart says. XD

I would never turn down an attractive man telling my FemShep he loves her, except that the flirting/build-up prior to his confession didn't really equate romantic love. It seemed purely sexual between the two of them (Not to mention his gawdawful "but the priiiize" line makes me vomit. All up in my mouth.) so his confession seemed ridiculous to me. If there was a Renegade interrupt option to laugh out loud I'd consider pursuing a romance with him, but alas.
Flirting with Jacob is taking one for the team - we appreciate it, Anastassia!
And... yeah, watching the Jacob rejection vid? I am boggled by the sheer, unadulterated cheesiness of his opening line. I wasn't sure before, but think maybe I find him unattractive on account of smarm and cheese.
Back on topic: Garrus is endearing and sweet and I him. I'll try to have artbits to post some time in the future when all the super-talented people are busy elsewhere. It's awesome that the thread has so much awesome and talent, just kind of intimidating. ^^;

I've only done one flirting line with Jacob and haven't watched the rest aside from this now. His beginning line is indeed.. well.. repulsive. But it was unexpected, like seeing a softer side of Jacob behind the 'sex nao!' vibe I'm getting based on others responses to him. It may be simply because I haven't heard his other lines, though >.>..
I do wish I could talk to him without seeming to flirt every single time. But I know this thread is about Garrus and our deep and undying love for him, sorry to throw it off-topic for a moment!

You know, I had previously felt pretty apathetic toward the Jacob romance (aside from thinking it's on the crass and creepy side, anyway), but watching that video just pushed me from apathy to distaste. Given his pissy reaction when she turns him down -- not to mention the fact that his romance is easily portrayed as the most lust-driven one, especially with those godawful lines about "the prize" and whatnot -- it makes me think that the whole "I love you" was not much more than a ploy to get into her pants. And there are few things in the world I despise more than men who manipulate women's emotions in order to get laid.
It also definitely annoys me that Jacob is the only one to get the "I love you," as half-assed as it was, and that his and Thane's rejection scenes aren't really rejections. Can't say I really appreciate BioWare's not-so-subtle hints that those of us who prefer less than humanoid aliens are really just whackos whose preferences are somehow inferior.
I'm overreacting, I suppose. And don't get me wrong, I'll always be insanely grateful that they even gave us the Garrus option, because they in no way had to do that. Still, shoehorning the "I love you" into Jacob's romance and repeatedly practically shoving the option to reject Garrus down our throats makes it seem kind of backhanded.
As for rejecting Tali, I too have never seen it done, so I don't know what the scenario is. But if I had to guess, I would bet money that it's just Shepard not wanting to risk her health, and not done with any kind of thinly-veiled sense of official disapproval like with Garrus.
In my first playthrough I was flirting with all three at the same time. I didn't have to dump anyone because Jacob was like "let me know when you're not serious about the turian" (or something) and Thane said "let me know when other eyes aren't looking at you anymore" (or something), while Garrus was still like "YEAH... DEFINITELY!"
@Briallen - I completely agree with all of your points, only you put them more eloquently than I. I also see the reasoning behind Tali's rejection as being motivated by her health, but if it's made to be as finalized as Garrus's I will feel a little better about it.
@Cerrydd - Garrus has NO reaction at all to your other LIs? That's kinda funny and kinda maddening all at the same time. Maybe he's just THAT confident, hehe.

Not on my first playthrough. In my second game, by boyfriend wanted to see both Garrus and Thane romance (don't ask me why), so I flirted with them both. Then somehow Garrus said he was thinking about what we talked about, that he knew I had other options and he didn't want to jeopardize the mission with a 'stupid love triangle'. After I dumped Thane he was all like "YEAH... DEFINITELY" again.
Ya know...I was thinking about coming on to all three (or 4 if you count Kelly) LI's in my second full playthrough with my main Shepard just so I can hear the different dialogues from them. But...I can't help but imagine her pleading with me "I...I just want Garrus..." as she makes red-glowy puppy dog eyes at me.

Perhaps Garrus is just the most accepting of the fact that Shepard is the "anything that moves" type. ...kidding.
I do love the fact that Jacob is more jealous of Garrus than he is of Thane if you flirt with all three of them.
EDIT: I'm surprised someone hasn't made a LOL!Garrus "Yeah...DEFINITELY" pic yet.

I just saw that video for the first time. It bugs me that you have to reject Jacob three times before he finally leaves, but it's a lot easier to blow off Garrus and Thane in the love scene.
I agree with you about Jacob's "I love you." I don't think he even says it if Shepard doesn't reject him in that scene initially.

Perhaps it depends on who you initiate the romance with first?
But yeah, how Garrus deals with the rejection scenes (whether the final romance scene or the earlier ones) and how he handles Shepard "playing the field," strike me as classic turian philosophy in action: equating the self with the group while still having individual desires/drives. He doesn't create drama because that can put the team in danger on the final mission, but he's definitely interested in pursuing something with Shepard when she's free of other "entanglement."
Likewise, if you reject him in the end, he is VERY disappointed over it, but he buries it and keeps it to himself instead of unloading it onto Shepard...because, again, the mission coming up takes priorities. Drama will only harm the team and draw Shepard's attention away from more important considerations (like surviving).
I always loved Garrus, i found his ethics in ME1 abit strange but through the course of the game i managed to change him then to see his happy reunion with shepard in 2 was great but when on the normandy he didnt talk enough, i mean garrus we dont even need the weapons now why are you calibrating?
I just had an amazing thought. Jacob IS the Old Spice commercial dude!
ROFL. That guy has a much funnier voice, which would make the 'prize' line a lot more bearable. xD
Shepard: THAT THING I LIKE? HOW DID YOU KNOW? ::swoon::
I agree with your assessment, Briallen. I don't see how that rejection makes it seem like Jacob cares any more for Shepard than the rest of it. It just makes him seem like one of those 'players' that tells every woman he sleeps with that he loves them... Oi.

Better safe than sorry! Who knows what could be hit if your weapons aren't calibrated properly? Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest sonuva***** in space!
