Anyone have a link to Jacob's rejection scene? It's the only one I can't track down on youtube (I think I just fail at searching). But anyway...of the three choices for FemShep, I still maintain that Garrus has the most meaningful relationship. With him, it's all or nothing, ladies (and gents ;)).
I like to think of the Garrus romance the same way the Vanguard class is described.

High risk. High reward.

Hilarity ensues!

You know, I had previously felt pretty apathetic toward the Jacob romance (aside from thinking it's on the crass and creepy side, anyway), but watching that video just pushed me from apathy to distaste. Given his pissy reaction when she turns him down -- not to mention the fact that his romance is easily portrayed as the most lust-driven one, especially with those godawful lines about "the prize" and whatnot -- it makes me think that the whole "I love you" was not much more than a ploy to get into her pants. And there are few things in the world I despise more than men who manipulate women's emotions in order to get laid.

It also definitely annoys me that Jacob is the only one to get the "I love you," as half-assed as it was, and that his and Thane's rejection scenes aren't really rejections. Can't say I really appreciate BioWare's not-so-subtle hints that those of us who prefer less than humanoid aliens are really just whackos whose preferences are somehow inferior.

I'm overreacting, I suppose. And don't get me wrong, I'll always be insanely grateful that they even gave us the Garrus option, because they in no way had to do that. Still, shoehorning the "I love you" into Jacob's romance and repeatedly practically shoving the option to reject Garrus down our throats makes it seem kind of backhanded.

As for rejecting Tali, I too have never seen it done, so I don't know what the scenario is. But if I had to guess, I would bet money that it's just Shepard not wanting to risk her health, and not done with any kind of thinly-veiled sense of official disapproval like with Garrus.

I agree with all of this. ...I hope BioWare's writers read this thread and take our feedback into account. There is certainly a lot of it!

Oh god, I can't romance Thane at all. I have no stomach for tragedy. Those lines just make it worse.

Do they all have specific lines if you dump them for someone else? All I've heard of is the Garrus>Jacob 'cuttlefish' one.

Just Jacob. Thane and Garrus are apparently not important enough to have specific lines like those.

What the hell is it with this guy?  I've never even played KOTOR but I know that Thane's backstory is cut & paste from Carth's, and apparently he goes to the same orthodonist as Jacob.

The only similarities between Thane's and Carth's backstories are that they both have wangsty teenage sons and feel 'bad dad guilt' (are you listening, Papa Vakarian?). Carth was absent due to being a military officer. He was never an irresponsible "My body's actions aren't mine boo hoo" daddy.

That said, I prefer Thane to Carth. Carth just makes me want to kick puppies and I don't know why. Hate him, hate Kaidan, same voice actor. I see a trend.

I can't blame Jacob for coming off this way...FemShep is positively throbbing for him in every dialogue line other then his armor upgrade. I keep wondering if there's some character element or pathos to him I'm missing and I'll only get by doing his romance.

And I agree with others that's kind of funny that he's the one who gets an "I love you" (though Ash on Horizon says "I loved you"...dunno if Kaidin does, my FemShep was really mean to him because she's already thinking about a certain Turian...)

A lot of people have said that Tali/Garrus (unlike your old SV1 crew) come for Shepard in spite of their distrust for Cerberus. I noticed after his recruitment mission, Garrus is actually a little enthusiastic about working for them ("We should've signed up sooner.")

I liked Carth well enough, back in the KOTOR days. Never fangirled him like some people, but found him appealing. Sure did have his DERP moments, though.

In fact, my reaction when I first saw Kaidan in ME1 was "I romanced you back when your name was Carth! Alien space babe it is, then."

In regards to unique LI dialogue concerning the other LI's, it seems to me that Garrus should have something to say about Jacob. One of his flirt diatribes ("I know you can find something closer to home") was practically geared towards an inevitable Jacob VS Garrus line or two - a perfect opportunity to show G's insecurities against a human rival. And even with Thane there could be a comment about FemShep liking the aliens.

I'm trying to flirt with Jacob and Garrus. But damn it's so slow with Garrus and I haven't done his loyalty mission yet and Jacob annoys the hell out of me the way he talks now.
Since I first saw Jacob I kept staring at his teeth. Now it's worst with Carth's picture imprinted on my mind lol

Interacting with Jacob, all you can see is Carth. All you can hear is "JOKER'S WAITING FOR YOU ON THE BRIDGE."
...but the priiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiize.

Yeah, I was a little disappointed Jack didn't seem particularly angry about Shepard shacking up with Miranda. (Though she's always angry, maybe she can't get angrier without tearing the ship apart.)

Makes me wonder if they'll handle the possible ME3 'love triangles' with confrontation scenes (there's like 12 possible combinations) or more generic dialogue except for Shepard. ("You've moved on." "You're talking about Garrus.")

The dialog between Shepard and Kaidan should have been something like this:

Kaidan: Bla bla bla, you betrayed the Alliance...bla bla Cerberus...bla I loved you bla bla

Shepard: JOKER'S WAITING FOR ME ON THE BRIDGE

Once Bioware revealed interrupts, I was actually hoping for that exact situation.

Slightly more on-topic, the fact that it has an interrupt makes Garrus's romance scene one of my favorites.

Some of the scenes you just get one dialogue wheel "last chance to say no" and then you're on rails. (What, no 'afterglow' conversation?)

That's what the model for his teeth look like; he never normally opens his mouth like that during the game, so you never see them. Games glitch, though...

Huh, not the image I expected to come up while talking about Renegade interrupts in a Garrus thread. Some of you know the one I'm talking about...

I don't know why, but I just imagined Garrus and Shep's post-coital conversation being a musical one.

Cuz...you know. It was that good.

I found the scene where you interrupt Garrus to be very sweet. The way he was looking at Shepard :)

Something is bothering me. I don't know whether this has already been discussed, but I'll share my thoughts anyway.

So, Garrus is always busy calibrating, Thane is always busy with his everlasting meditation, and Jacob is always busy with... uhh.. what exactly? I don't know, but anyway, they're always busy. No one ever leaves his room and Jacob is not even on the same deck as Garrus and Thane. Due to lack of interaction between squad mates, you get the feeling they never talk to eachother.

Then how the hell does Jacob know about Shep flirting with the G-man? No one ever mentions anything about Shep and Garrus/whoever, except for Mordin and his wise lessons. By the way, how did Mordin even notice anything going on between your Shep and LI? It's stupid.

But maybe I'm just worrying too much. And talking too much. XD

Garrus: "I'm not what you'd call a good Turian. First I left the
military, because when a good Turian hears a bad order, he follows it!
And that ain't me! Then I joined C-Sec. But I couldn't deal with the
red tape, man! I gotta do things MY way! Then we went after that
salarian doctor. I was going to kill him! But then you convinced me to
turn him into the authorities. Then... you died... and I started a
vigilante group! Yeah! I AM the law! But then Sidonis said "Hey Garrus
meet me way over on the other side of Omega, I have to tell you
something, I got a job" and I said OK! Because telling him to come back
to base, or tell me over the radio, or taking my team with me to a job
would have been... um... well anyway, my whole team got killed, and I
was trapped, but you saved me! Then I was going to KILL Sidonis for
what he did, and you convinced me not to."

Shepard: "Wow, Garrus, it
really sounds like you're made of fail. I mean, seriously, everything
you've done, you've made a royal ****-up of. And everything you take a
stand on, I've just told you to do something else, and you've done it,
and thanked me for it. I hope I don't die after this mission. I'd hate
to see how you handle being on your own again, without me to dictate
your actions and morals to you."

i was asked to post this here

Shepard needs to find a hobby and the rest of the LI need to stop lying and stalking her around when she's not paying attention.

As for Mordin, maybe they send him mails asking for his expertise in comfortable positions, chafing and lotions, also pron vids.
