It just... made me pause for a second. It made me realize I didn't want Garrus to just go out and kill the guy. It felt... wrong. To me, at least. So I went with the paragon route. I just couldn't let him take that shot. Damn you, Bioware, for making me care :P

Bioware makes everyone care. I remember really really needing to kill Talid in Thanes mission for his renegade points, and I couldn't do it for the life of me. Seriously Bioware? You make this feel so important to me that I can't make that kind of call.. in a videogame?

Lots of ways that Bioware's made me care. I've never been able to get Tali exiled or to not hug her during her loyalty mission. I just cannot be mean to my crew except Jacob who I'd like to punch. Hell, I know I'll never be able to let someone, anyone, die during the suicide mission. Not even Jacob.
So... good job, Bioware! I'll be missing out on two-thirds of the renegade options! XD

Indeed! It boggles the mind when people want to kill off their crew in the suicide mission! :(

Jacob.. just makes me feel uncomfortable, haha. "So bby, what's shaking?"

- Garrus on the other hand feels like a total-letdown.  Basically he's trying his hardest to make a good impression on Shepard, and her brush-off about "We shouldn't ruin our friendship" in that tone of voice feels like she's embarassed by his floundering.  His excuse of "Yeah, probably torn a ligament" makes it blatantly obvious they were intending to get close and intimate, and then they focus on the wine which he bought just for you.

That's one of the reasons I feel that the romance with Garrus carries far more weight and love than the romance presented by characters such as Thane or Jacob.  There's something very loving that can take place between FemShep and Garrus that the other just don't have.  It's not unbridled, immature jump-you-bones-because-you-saved-me, but truly deep-down love.  He doesn't want it to go wrong.  It's the only thing going right for him in the past two years, after all.

Indeed.  There's a lot of subtlety in the Garrus romance and I appreciate how much more maturely it's handled.  I don't say "mature" as in all the others are ready to jump each other's bones (okay, I admit a couple are like that...), but I definitely get the vibe that their relationship is a lot more complex and deep than what is allowed with the other romances.

Can't say I agree that the Garrus romance is any more mature or loving than some of the other romances (specifically Thane's and Jack's -- although while I have a lot of respect for the Jack romance it still feels a bit squicky to me, but I need to play through it). There will always be rose-colored glasses as far as fan bias goes anyway.

I do feel Jacob's was lacking in the emotional department, but Jacob is a character that doesn't demand that sort of thing, so it works for him. Safe to say all the romances are different and each for a different taste, whether it be yours or not. They are all well-written and well-delivered for what they strove to be, IMO.

Well, it is two friends who are finally getting together.... And frankly, the dialogue plays that way.

I made a Renegade femShep just so Garrus could get some love. After all, he's the one who waited for two years... and he's allergic to her. There's something very ... nice about that.

IccaRa, I did make it a point to say I did not mean "mature" in the sense that others are "immature."  My use of the word "mature" was used in a different context.  It is not due to "rose colored glasses" that I said what I said, but after considering the words, body language, interactions, prior history, etc., displayed in the game by each of the potential LI's.  I do understand why the way I worded it might have been confusing.

That definitely lends a unique dimension their relationship. ^^ They're comrades in arms, they've both been through hell for and with the other person, they've had each other's backs, and so forth.

I'm not confused by what you wrote. I never said that you insinuated the other romances were immature and I wasn't directing the rose-colored glasses thing at you either. All I said was that I don't feel the Garrus-romance has any particular benefit over the other romances, all things considered, because each romance is composed of different facets. It just depends on what facets are more to your liking (and mesh best with your Shepard.) Apples and oranges, in a way.

Technically, yes, no romance has any implied or coded benefit over any other romance, but that's not what anyone here was speaking of, I think. :) If you hadn't directed your comments at me, then I will apologize; it was difficult to tell due to your particular word usage following my post.

Guys, I can't do it.

I'm trying to get through a ME1 playthrough to romance Kaidan so I can cheat on him, but ugh. UGH.  I mean, there's the fact that he annoys me quite a bit (I don't hate him so much when I'm not romancing him.  Kinda like Jacob, only I like Jacob more)  but even worse? THE GAME.

I have it for computer so it's much more intuitive, but yeah. I'm trying to finish my MaleShep renegade playthrough (who is actually almost max at both paragon and renegade now, hrm) and the clumsiness of the game makes me have to put it down every now and then. I originally played on Xbox 360 and can't imagine doing so now. Everyone in my house who didn't play ME1 is doing it on the computer after seeing the difference, so I really feel for you.

At the time it was pretty damn awesome, except for the Mako's controls, but how BioWare has spoiled us with the changes!

Re: Garrus litho: It's kind of eh, actually. I mean I guess it's concept art and stuff but that isn't even Garrus's face. (That said, it's a finer art piece than anything I could make.)

I agree, but it's supposed to be Garrus and I want to encourage BW to actually stock and sell more Garrus stuff. *sigh* I really wish squidbunny's "Right Behind You, Shepard," or Aris' current project were the lithos...granted, they'd have to work for BW (they could, they're that good), but it would be awesome. :D

Oh and hey all. I had some vague plans to drop into G-chat, but since everyone in my household is Horribly, Horribly Ill today I think I'll just Go Be Sensible with some TheraFlu and a good book. I look forward to catching up on conversations here later on.

OMG, my first completion of Dragon Age: Origins broke my heart. I'd romanced Zevran, and flirted with Alistair a little bit (we never slept together or even kissed, so Zev never commented on it, but Al still broke up with me when he took the throne, lol). My City Elf put Al on the throne because she was convinced Anora wouldn't be above just slaughtering every elf in the Alienage if they tried to actually have some rights. And I was so excited, because my poor, sad, abused character was going to kill the Archdemon and live adventuring-ever-after with Zevran!

SPOILERS!!!!!

And then I had her shoot down Morrigan's demon-child-creation offer. My character never trusted Morrigan, never liked her. Left her in camp 24/7 and only kept her around for advice on dark magic, really. So her thought process was basically "Give you the soul and power of a GOD-thing to control? Yea-NO. Get out." And it was all good, cause hey, we found another Grey Warden!!! He'll die, not my character or Alistair! Except then that idiot falls off the dragon, and OH ****, EITHER ALISTAIR OR I HAVE TO DIE!!! And Alistair CAN'T die, because he's THE KING NOW, and if he dies ANORA THE LYING **** takes over, and that just Can. Not. Happen. And, oh, GOD, the eulogy. :crying::crying::crying:

Yup. Only sacrificed my girl once. Every other time, Alistair has been made to sleep with Morrigan.. I just want that semi-happy ending for my character too badly! One of these days, I'll have to choose Loghain over Alistair.
