@aznsoisauce - Zomg, if they turned the Morinth club mission into another sequence where you take control of another character, a la Joker on the Normandy...that would be EPIC. Can you imagine all of the different dialogues as Garrus, Thane, LEGION!, etc tried to get Morinth's attention?! I'm laughing already and it doesn't even exist!
Morinth: Look into my eyes and tell me you want me. Tell me you'd kill for me.
Legion: We are building a consensus. . .We think YES!

I was on Korlus earlier today fighting Jedore, I pulled out the Eviscerator shotgun and rushed her and before I could pull the trigger, a plume of blood erupted out of her head. Garrus shouted "SCOPED AND DROPPED!"
I lol'd.
Since my main Shep is a Vanguard, I like to think every battle I bring Garrus with me is actually a race to every kill.

But: I wish he was human.
IMO, there can be no doubt that personality-wise, Garrus is the most attractive male team member. A dependable friend, the only team member you get early and know you can trust with your life, with a passion for justice that sometimes overrides his common sense. He's also cool without flaunting his coolness, and recognizes the sometimes grim realities of life without it turning him into a cynic. All in all, a hero in his own right as of ME2. If Shepard - male or female - had one friend (as opposed to lover, not that this can't go hand-in-hand) in his team, it would probably be Garrus. In my games, my Shepard, Garrus and Miranda make a dream team.
But regarding romance, I can't get over the fact he's not human. As I said in other threads, biological facts can't be changed by wishful thinking, nor should a story attempt to do so without a very good explanation. Unsurprisingly, Turians just haven't evolved to look attractive to humans, and so - they don't.
Having said this, I do - I repeat - support Garrus' return in ME3 and think he's one of the best characters in ME2. One who can appeal to almost everyone, and as the polls show, probably does.

I think that actually helps in Garrus' case. I don't have to worry about the appearance at all, imagine what he 'should' look like if graphics weren't a factor. I just think about him as the character.
I do think if he was human he would probably win over a larger number of fans than he currently does, since the single argument against the Garrus romance seems to be, 'ew, aliens!'. But personally, I'm happy with him as a turian. :3

Lifted from the Mass Effect CSI thread...
--
Re: Ew, Alien!
I don't know about you guys, but the fact that Garrus is Turian is a big turn on for me (I love me some mandibles XD). He's not just any Turian, he's a "bad" one. Not to mention the adrenaline rush from the risks you face from getting intimate with him. The fact that he's a Turian just makes the romance so much more exciting to me...the social hurdles to over come, the cries of "I will never be a Grandmother!" from Spacer mom, Hanna Shepard...
But if Garrus were human, I'd still be head over heel for him. Brandon Keener's voice is amazing with or without the flanging effect. Obviously, Garrus' species does not affect his mindset, morals, and charm. Essentially, human Garrus isn't less attractive, but he certainly isn't more.
As much as I am against Garrus being human, I admit that now I am curious as to what this thread thinks he would look like...

Not bashing your opinion at all but that statement is subjective, and false where 95% of the people in this thread are concerned. Back in ME1 I found turians attractive. Fiction allows for weird attractions, I think, and turians/Garrus are hardly the first non-human creatures to catch the eye of the ladies.Ieldra2 wrote...

I would hope he'd be a (light) brunette or dirty blonde, since almost every human in the game has black hair, and the few that don't are redheads. Normally I'm into darker hair, but I like some blondes, especially dark blondes... Alistair, for example.
@Tootles: I LOVE Beauty and the Beast (favorite Disney movie ever) and I totally found Beast WAY more attractive (especially the voice) than the 'Prince'. He was gross-looking as a human.

I guess him not being human doesn't matter to me so much because I've never found any of the human men in Mass Effect, or for that matter any BioWare game, particularly attractive. The best I can do is say to myself 'I bet he would be really good looking if he were real!' .. Because all I see in-game is the weird eyelids, the odd shadows, the clunky hair models, the overly thick necks.

I think this would definitely be my stance if I was a dudette, since I feel basically the exact same way about the Tali romance.

I have no clue why, but this dude was the first that came to mind when I thought of Garrus as a human (appearance wise anyway). It's one of the 'Basterds' from Inglourious Basterds.

I am also thinking dirty blonde hair, and hopefully longer than the current ME men's hairstyles. Actually, this picture pretty much would sum it up. Really young Brad Pitt + floppy hair + cowboy hat. Mmmmm.Aris Ravenstar wrote...]

Well, Garrus' eye color is already a rare one amongst humans in the ME-verse. So, to imagine him with another rare trait, light colored hair, is conceivable. But...if he's to have light colored hair then I would have to say he can't have tan (or darker) skin because the thought of Garrus being a ganguro is frightening nightmare material.Aris Ravenstar wrote...

I've never seen Inglourious Basterds so I wouldn't know who that is (so not my type of film), but that guy is just very odd looking. Can't figure out what it is.
Definitely no tan. At worst he'd look like those images, at best he'd look too Zevran-ey.
Thinking of a specific actor is hard, because I can't imagine someone else's face with Garrus' voice. xD;

OMG you're not the only one. At the end of the movie , I was like "TURN HIM BACK!"
Robby Benson had done an amazing job as the voice of the Beast, and made him that much more attractive. His human form...sucked.

In the Belle's Magical Christmas movie they show him in additional scenes as a human and it's MUCH improved (and I know these things because I babysit, and thus have seen every straight-to-video Disney movie known to man).DeeLite808 wrote...

But now you've put thoughts of Garrus transforming into a human in my head, and this has become my fantasy ME3 ending. ...but only for the smoochies, and then he can turn right back into our cute little turian. ^.^

(I have seen the Christmas 'midquel', still don't like him.
I think we'd have this same problem with Garrus. Basically no puny human is going to do justice to the awesome tough as nails turian we know and love. ;D
EDIT: ... Okay. All this talk of Beauty and the Beast makes me want to draw Garrus and FemShep... in Belle and Beast's outfits. But with sniper rifles.

Rebuttal taken in the spirit it was offered. Personally, it's less a matter of physical attractiveness than that I can't believe in the sex part from a plausibility viewpoint.Ms Cherissa wrote...

Having said that, him being a Turian and having a great personality a human can appreciate certainly makes him more interesting than if he were human. I can see the relationship between Shepard and Garrus as an example of good inter-species relations, they may have a life-long friendship. But as for the sex part, well, it's not the "Ew..aliens" reflex - he certainly doesn't look ugly. Circumstances just combine to keep me from him - my preference for convincing universes and that he just hasn't got the right attraction triggers, however my romance-starved femSheps may wish he had. The same reasoning applies to Tali, btw. I know I'm in the minority in this, but I can take it. This doesn't change the fact he's a great character.

People generally don't want to see them, becasue it so IMPOSSIBLE and scientifica garbage, but what they miss is that amount of biological BS in ME is really big and hybrids would be just another nail to the coffin of scientific part. As a fan of rather hard s-f I don't want to see them, but watching Mordin saying that is good to have diversed group to experiment on or whole concept of all-female species that can breed with anything, not to mention Lazarus project, are just so ludicrous that hybrids are yet another idea that would lack scientific merit.
Do I want to see hybrids walking around ME universe? HELL NO!
Though it would add much more drama and dynimic to alien/human relation on psychological and sociological level. I don't know if it would exceed rule of cool for ME though.
Would it be so ubelivable concerning other ideas I've seen? NOT AT ALL.
Just my two cents.

Fair enough.
On a happier, Garrus-related note.. Someone just posted this in another thread about bringing other characters on the Archangel mission:
Awww, one big happy reunion! <3
I'm guessing this is another case of good old fashioned "had the files in the game, but changed at the last minute"...itis.
I wish they had diologue like this if you brought Garrus with you on the mission to recruit Tali. But noooo, he just stands there like a doofus all silent and stuff. No "hi Tali, long time no see," and no "Holy crap Garrus, what happened to your face?!"
Yeah, the *only* acknowledgment I've witnessed so far in my games is, amazingly, Kaiden on Horizon. Something like "You too, Garrus?" (about being with Cerberus). Does Ashley "et tu" him too? I really wish Legion were recruitable sooner. I don't know why they give you so little time between getting the IFF and having the Normandy attacked. Having to rush to the collector base after the crew is kidnapped makes sense, but they should give you more warning/choice about when to implement the IFF into the systems. As it stands you basically have time to do ONE thing safely -- and it *has* to be Legion's loyalty mission if you want everyone loyal -- before it forces you to finish the game.
I still don't really get why, with a game this size and the budget they had, there is next to no squad interaction. I'm not even talking about complicated things like having them walk around the ship or react to how Shepard treats the others (maybe Jack and Miranda being sole exception). It just seems like a few extra lines of dialogue -- one for each ME1 reunion combination, maybe 2 or 3 more for the LI -- could have really contributed a lot. Squad interaction was one place I had thought there would be more improvement between ME1 and 2. /disappointed
