When I first played ME1, and a Turian came on the screen for the first time, I thought to myself that they were a really cool looking species and that I wanted to see more of them. The strange hip shape threw me for a loop at first, but then I realized that my resolution was off and it made them look short and boxy when in fact they were supposed to be tall and regal looking. I couldn't figure out if they had bony plates on their faces or were wearing masks of a sort. But they drew the eye.

Still, no physical attraction, as in no enjoying the view of Turian behinds or anything like I do a human male character's- Zaeed has a nice one. =) But anyway, I realized in ME2 that when I met up with Garrus, I was thrilled to see him. Because it's like coming home in a way when you see someone your character has a good history with. And after talking to Garrus in depth, it all made sense. If it was something purely physical I wanted for my character, Jacob would suit. But Garrus is an old and dear friend and you can see that your Shep finds his presence comforting and heartwarming from her dialogue.
From there it was a clear choice. Sometimes two "people", for lack of a better word, find a connection at the level of the heart that transcends their differences, however great. And I want it to work between Garrus and my Shep. They could have something real and lasting.

So much for Kaidan.

I thought Garrus was pretty cool. He's the only squad member that I took with me on all the major missions in both ME1 and 2 (Liara and Miranda being the other respectively). Not sure why I like him over all the other characters really. Nothing particularly interesting or flashy about him. Just seems like a good guy you'd like to have watching your back. Plus I agree completely with most of his viewpoints.

When he was falling over that ledge at the end of ME2, I got a little nervous there. And I don't usually get nervous in real life, let alone over video game characters. Great job by the writers.

Heres an opinion on garrus. He doesn't question when you shoot someone. He believes in eye for an eye and he thinks C-Sec is nothing, but weeny dogs.

Seriously though, it's good to know I'm not alone.  Not that I minded being amongst women, but it's always a bit odd to feel like the "odd-man out", ya know?  And like you, I'm willing to love Garrus via proxy (my FemShep, Emily) rather than take nothing at all.

I'm also gay and am fairly active on here, though less so right now because life and responsibility to my students keeps getting in the way.  I do wonder how Garrus might react to an advance made by MaleShep.  I don't know if he'd shy away from it, but I think he'd be less "vocal" than he is with FemShep.  Maybe Brokeback Mountain has created too much of a mental impression on me, but I see it as being a sudden, rough, yet lovingly passionate moment.

That's actually a pretty good point. I think that his main appeal for me is that he doesn't b*tch and moan like half the other male characters do, but at the same time isn't a charicature psychopathic killer like the other half. Most male characters in Bio games fall into one of those two extremes but Garrus is the happy middle ground. Tough enough to respect him, but personable enough to like him.

I'm not too sure about that.  Kaiden might have worse feelings cause technically he was friends/comrades with Garrus.  He might not only feel betrayed by femshep but by Garrus as well.  He wouldn't get that if she was with a stranger.

I would love to see some sort of confrontation in the next game between LI1 and LI2.  Who knows we might even get new LI3s too.  That Kal Regar was so coool.  There were a few people I'd love to have in my next game.

I want to get Garrus into the Spectres.  He'd make an awesome Spectre.  I think it would be his dream job.

I want Garrus as a Spectre, too. Maybe after saving the galaxy TWICE the Council will finally throw Shepard a bone and let her have Garrus made a Spectre? Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease, Bioweare!!!! Garrus would be so thrilled.

I don't think Kaidan would feel truly betrayed by anyone. He'd be disappointed Shepard is with someone else, and he'd want her to get back with him, but it'd be kind of irrational for him to feel betrayed when he totally dumped Shepard on Horizon. How would that work?

"How could you do this to me, Shepard? I sent you an EMAIL saying we could TALK at some unspecified point in the future! How could you take that for anything other than my declaration of undying love and lasting stake in our relationship?"

. . . . Yeah, I don't see Kaidan pulling that. Ashley, possibly.

If Garrus doesn't return as a squad member this is actually an excellent way for him to make a cameo. He even mentioned that he had trained to become a Spectre in the past. Although I would really love to see him return to the squad, allowing him to become a Spectre would be a pretty nice consolation prize.

That being said, I'd like to ask you guys something... Because I love Garrus because he's Garrus, not because he's a turian, but I also find turians physically attractive, in general. And I have a thing for certain aliens*, of other games/movies... And I'd like to know if I'm alone at this, because Thane is accepted, but I'm talking about things more alien than Thane. Along the lines of turians. You know.

So, any other races you really like? (in, or outside the ME universe)

*(I also have a thing for robots, and I'm dangerously close to developing a crush for Legion, but that's another story...)

I'm a Trekkie to the core, so hell yeah, aliens. I've never liked a species quite as universally, though--even though their most common trait in ME1 is gigantic dickery (the only nice turians are on Noveria), I was largely unbothered because I liked them so much. I think it's the voices; I don't know what they do in that recording studio, but it sure sounds nice. Garrus almost has his VA's normal voice, with the exception of the flanging they use for all turians...I admit I've watched that Budweiser commercial more than once just to listen to him.

Hmm...after my dealings with the Council in ME2, I actually have a hard time imagining Garrus stomaching working for them as a Spectre. Maybe post-ME3 he'll sign on, but I don't think he'll be running off to petition for their ranks anytime soon what with the Reapers on their way. ^^

And "yay!" Another Trekkie! Worf = sexy.  That is all.

Anyway I am wondering how will that plays out in ME3... Kaidan vs Garrus+Shepard mother and Vakarian father lol... I complicated my life I told you xD with LI from ME and with Spacer background am so lucky hehe.
But I think that somehow Garrus would step aside because of Kaiden. He is such a good guy... but I don't want that. I even think that Kaiden will be cold and won't care at all maybe because I cheated him, maybe they will make him in ME3 based on what I decided abour romance in ME2 like he really moved on, got feeling that there won't be soo much drama about it as we think.
Anyway something really strange happened to me today with Legion in my party ... I took him on the Citadel and when we arrived he started to do robot dance suddenly and making some noise. Lol did that happen to anyone else?? Was kinda funny, after that he didn't repeat it ...what the hell was that

I think Garrus would only step aside if the Shepard wanted Kaidan in the end. I think Kaidan will bring out the guilt trip and be upset, but I don't know that there will be unbridled rage and biotic throwing going on.

And lol, I've seen Legion doing the robot and beatboxing. XD Hilarious. Apparently he does it if you wait around in the AI Core long enough.

EDIT: We'll catch up to the Tali fans eventually, don't worry. We just take our sweet time with discussion. XD

I did. But it's because I love blue and black, it's much better than the typical "black+red=badass" (got very tired of the colossus armors in ME1)

Shepard, Garrus, and Miranda in her black suit make a pretty cool team. Not just esthetically, also they were my favorite team combination most of the game. Maybe it's just because I learned how to use their skills appropiately, and they are very versatile.

Plus, I don't hate Miranda! Can you believe that? From the adverts and all the promotional material, and her profile, I thought I was gonna hate her. What a surprise! Still not gonna play her romance with a male Shepard, though. Prefer her as a cold, pragmatic professional.

I came to like each of the squadmates to some degree, which was a surprise.  In the end, I didn't even have the heart to let Kelly melt.   I still told her to back off on Garrus, though. >:3

My Vanguard shep has a burgundy camo armor thing going on, my Infiltrator has light blues and greys in camo armor.   I love being able to customize the colors, I just wish there were more armor pieces. ^^

Tali will always have her fanbase...and who knows what kind of person Kasumi is. But yeah, there will always be those who will abandon one character for a newer one...and then you'll have the loyal core remaining and then building back from there. Happened with Garrus/Thane, and it will happen with Tali/Kasumi, I think.

OMG... I also colored my armor that same shade of blue in the end. I must have selected that color unconsciously, not realizing it was probably to match his. But it's one of my favorite colors and the dress I wanted to wear to the prom back in high school but couldn't afford. Sort of a paladin color in my mind, and my Shep is a paragon.

Anyway, I had a fic idea for ManShep x Garrus.  Given the general hush-hush that seems to exist in the ME universe surrounding same-sex couples, my idea was that ManShep might not even be forward about it.  It'd be a LOT of awkward stumbling blocks.  I mean, how do you tell a male, alien comrade, whose orientation you're not even aware of, that you have strong feelings for him?  (This has always been my issues IRL, trying to tell someone I like them, when I've got no idea which way they could swing)

You're right, I don't think Garrus would mind, IMO.  I mean, his whole attraction to FemShep has nothing to do with gender or species (notice his lines are worded to be as general neutral as possible) but with the fact that it's Shepard, his closest friend.  I...can only think the Mordin convo might be a bit different, though XD  But seriously, I think it would be just as awkwardly cute and sweet as FemShep.  (I mean seriously, swap F-Shep for M-Shep, and the scene still looks just as d'awwwww inducing)
