Just wanted to say that New and Improved Garrus is very cool. He was a bit lame in ME1 I thought, but the buildup he gets from the "Archangel" mission is incredible. He's like a Turian Dirty Harry now. :P

Lol at the idea of Shepard wearing wedding armour. It strangely fits.

Man...if a dramatic scene does play out, it better not be cheesy Twilight style (no offense to Twilight fans, but ya gotta admit it).

Shep [to Kaidan]: Don't make me choose...It'll be him. It was always him.

Shepard and Garrus then take off in a rapid transit taxi, leaving a sad, shirtless Kaidan in the middle of nowhere...Tuchanka, maybe.

Its a shame we can't watch how "supportive" the waist is :P. Oh ! and for god sake, can't Garrus take that scouter off ? its really weird when he wear it during the whole romance scene.

When I first played ME1, and a Turian came on the screen for the first time, I thought to myself that they were a really cool looking species and that I wanted to see more of them. The strange hip shape threw me for a loop at first, but then I realized that my resolution was off and it made them look short and boxy when in fact they were supposed to be tall and regal looking. I couldn't figure out if they had bony plates on their faces or were wearing masks of a sort. But they drew the eye.

Still, no physical attraction, as in no enjoying the view of Turian behinds or anything like I do a human male character's- Zaeed has a nice one. =) But anyway, I realized in ME2 that when I met up with Garrus, I was thrilled to see him. Because it's like coming home in a way when you see someone your character has a good history with. And after talking to Garrus in depth, it all made sense. If it was something purely physical I wanted for my character, Jacob would suit. But Garrus is an old and dear friend and you can see that your Shep finds his presence comforting and heartwarming from her dialogue.
From there it was a clear choice. Sometimes two "people", for lack of a better word, find a connection at the level of the heart that transcends their differences, however great. And I want it to work between Garrus and my Shep. They could have something real and lasting.

So much for Kaidan.

I love this. So much.

...GET OUT OF MY HEAD.

And I have a thing for certain aliens*, of other games/movies... And I'd like to know if I'm alone at this, because Thane is accepted, but I'm talking about things more alien than Thane. Along the lines of turians. You know.

So, any other races you really like? (in, or outside the ME universe)

*(I also have a thing for robots, and I'm dangerously close to developing a crush for Legion, but that's another story...)

I'm a Trekkie to the core, so hell yeah, aliens. I've never liked a species quite as universally, though--even though their most common trait in ME1 is gigantic dickery (the only nice turians are on Noveria), I was largely unbothered because I liked them so much. I think it's the voices; I don't know what they do in that recording studio, but it sure sounds nice. Garrus almost has his VA's normal voice, with the exception of the flanging they use for all turians...I admit I've watched that Budweiser commercial more than once just to listen to him.

A Budweiser commercial with Garrus's VA? Where? Is it on YouTube?

Wait a minute...so there are people who jumped off the Garrus bandwagon to get on the Thane bandwagon? Awww, come on now, I've got nothing against Thane, but he's got no sense of humor. A guy has to get a few laughs from me now and then, you know? But it's all about turian in the end when it comes down to it. I was pretty disappointed I couldn't go talk to Executor Pallin in ME2 - had a great voice in ME1. I hope they didn't bump him off during the attack on the Citadel.

I'll always be Tali fan too just because she's a nice person with good intentions. You've got to figure that if Tali comes back, so will Garrus. They're your partners in crime from day one.

I didn't bother to romance Kaiden on either my second or third play through because I didn't want to deal with the whole "loyal" to your ME1 LI - he's going to be very dead in my play through. Do you know how impossible it is to talk to Kaiden without romancing him though?! I'm not sure it IS possible. I basically have to be a complete ass to get rid of him, otherwise he starts getting all cheesy, "Do you talk to all of your officers like this?" prompt and I'm like...yeah...only the dialog I get is "Of course, but I don't enjoy talking to all of them" in this very suggestive tone. ARGHHH!

Why don't I get the option...let's just be friends? I haven't found it yet if there is one.

But anyway...hahaha, Shepard in wedding armor. That would certainly be unique, yet fitting. Mmmm, I didn't customize my armor to look like Garrus'. I like more variety, and the dark metallic red is my favorite by far - couldn't change it once I had it, I like it so much, but they should have had more armor pieces. It's kind of weird that they don't really.

Of course, if there is some awesome showdown between Kaiden and Garrus in ME3, I'll have to create another play through where he is alive, just so I can see it. It just doesn't feel right romancing Kaiden though...I really can't think of him that way  - he's too...too...not Garrus.

Hm... Did anyone else take Garrus along for Mordin's loyalty mission? I love the part near when you first start running around the hospital, and you have a random conversation.

Mordin: *says something about the hospital being repurposed for the Krogan to defend from*
Garrus: Hospitals are not a good place to fight in...
Shepard: What is a good place to fight?
Garrus: Antique shop, restaurant... As long as it's classy.

LOL. ...And those places probably weren't the actual things he said, but I can't recall what they were at the moment.

I will be happy when I'm not playing on Insanity anymore. So that I don't have to be so worried about whether or not I have the right abilities on hand so that I can just drag Garrus along with me everywhere and hear his random lines. Definitely loved having him and Tali in the party when I was at the Citadel. ^_^

Just a little off topic, I have to say that I'm glad that this time around there were several times you didn't have to chose something for Shepard to say... especially when it was going to be the same thing anyway.

that I had no options for homosexuality.. Kelly herself makes note when
you ask her about her xenophilia that 'character' is what matters, no

But I respect bioware all the same. Frankly
I would like to sit here and thank all the wonderful female fans who
campaigned for garrus to love. If It wasnt for them my dream of having
him at least fall in love with a character
of mine would never have been realized. Being allowed to express love
for him was more important to me than whatever gender I was doing it
with...

Thank god.  I was wondering if I was the only active gay fan of Garrus in our little group.  Well...agentmulder likes to THINK he's straight...but I think we know better :P

Seriously though, it's good to know I'm not alone.  Not that I minded being amongst women, but it's always a bit odd to feel like the "odd-man out", ya know?  And like you, I'm willing to love Garrus via proxy (my FemShep, Emily) rather than take nothing at all.
Image IPBImage IPB

I'm also gay and am fairly active on here, though less so right now because life and responsibility to my students keeps getting in the way.  I do wonder how Garrus might react to an advance made by MaleShep.  I don't know if he'd shy away from it, but I think he'd be less "vocal" than he is with FemShep.  Maybe Brokeback Mountain has created too much of a mental impression on me, but I see it as being a sudden, rough, yet lovingly passionate moment.

Hey, more fellow gay dude fans!  I'm not alone! XD

Anyway, I had a fic idea for ManShep x Garrus.  Given the general hush-hush that seems to exist in the ME universe surrounding same-sex couples, my idea was that ManShep might not even be forward about it.  It'd be a LOT of awkward stumbling blocks.  I mean, how do you tell a male, alien comrade, whose orientation you're not even aware of, that you have strong feelings for him?  (This has always been my issues IRL, trying to tell someone I like them, when I've got no idea which way they could swing)

You're right, I don't think Garrus would mind, IMO.  I mean, his whole attraction to FemShep has nothing to do with gender or species (notice his lines are worded to be as general neutral as possible) but with the fact that it's Shepard, his closest friend.  I...can only think the Mordin convo might be a bit different, though XD  But seriously, I think it would be just as awkwardly cute and sweet as FemShep.  (I mean seriously, swap F-Shep for M-Shep, and the scene still looks just as d'awwwww inducing)

Hi gals (and guys :) ) I just finished my first fem/shep playthrough with Garrus a LI and here is what I think:
1) I founded him the most appealing option (Jacob was Cerberus scum and Thane ... c'mon another tortured dad in BWs history BEGONE ! .) It was amazingly written (BW has hell of a writers). Although I consider Thane much better looking than Garrus, IMO  the idea of  romance based on a deep friendship is much more interesting than "hey, you will replace my dead wife".
2) The last scene was touching and sweet, I don't fell like they showed too little. Or maybe I think so becasue the naked Turian would scare sh*t out of me :?

3) I dont think the writers believed him not to be atracted to Shepard physically, maybe they wanted to show that Garrus did not go for her solely to bang her vide text about fetish. From what I've seen ingame Turians are very capable of finding human females attractive ( Melvin - the lecherous Turian in Samara loyalty quest). Well Turians and Batarians (don't forget recruiter commenting on "sweet" Shepard during Archangel mission), so I think human females will have simillar role to Asari since they look almost identical (minus squid on head and blue skin), therefore I reject Garrus lack of physical attraction toward femShep.:D

4)  Mordin "chafing" quote - EPIC !  I wish I could see more team's comments on the romances. The olny one I got except Mordin's was Jacob's snippy  line about Garrus being cuttlebone. <_< You see it, when you are breaking up with Jacob and tell him that you are "cleaning the house" for Garrus. He is really pissed...

All and all I enjoyed Garrus romance. He is well-written and appealing character and I hope to see more in ME3. Also I want to see Kaidan's face when he will find out.

What was missing:

1) CLOSURE!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very high on   "need for closure" scale and I really missed good summury for a romance :(
2) More controversy and comments from the  team.

What to say more: Garrus is gar. I thought I would go for Thane all the way, but Garrus is Garrus.

Yeah, I always took them as a package deal, just because they both had/have huuuge fan-followings.  Love Tali, too...she also has loyalty and trust in Shep, since the beginning.

Yeah, it's really, really tough to talk to him and not get flirty dialogue like that without being a jerk.  I hate it when games almost force you into situations like that, especially when I'd rather just be friends at most.  But yeah...I Virmired him. >.>

But anyway...hahaha, Shepard in wedding armor. That would certainly be unique, yet fitting. Mmmm, I didn't customize my armor to look like Garrus'. I'd be happy with just more interactions from the sqaudmates, period.  Squad banter/conflict was severely lacking in ME2.  I hope that's rectified with DLC.  But I wonder if turians even have marriage? Would they have ceremonies at all? I know they take mates, but do they have marriage? It's not like they're particularly religious as a society, so I don't see there being big, elaborate weddings. :P

Really? Now I've gotta initiate the romance with Jacob just for that chance. That would be hilarious.

But I agree... more talk from the crew about Garrus would have been sweet. I mean, in Dragon Age we had all the teasing going on for Alistair and that was delightful.

To me it doesn't make sense to not hear someone comment about a human/turian relationship. Somehow I doubt Garrus and Shepard could keep it under wraps perfectly...

Actually he does. He's just more subtle about it.

"You can change your pants in a moment" and "dance crazy" come to mind. But yeah, Garrus is far more vocal and his snark is priceless.

That's not fair and you know it. I can't stand this "US AND THEM" attitude some fans have. A lot of people love both of them. They're very different characters.

Honestly, and this is 100% opinion here, I think Garrus definitely didn't find Shepard physically attractive at first.  He says he doesn't have a fetish for humans, he says he's never considered cross-species intercourse (Not even asari, Garrus? Really? Wow.)  and I believe him.

But he finds her attractive as a person, and I think that can lead to an eventual physical attraction.  I'm sort of basing this on my own experience here:  When I was playing ME1, I didn't see Garrus and immediately throw down my controller and yell, "HAWT.  GONNA HIT THAT LIKE A TON OF BRICKS!"  I gradually found myself looking forward to his conversations more and more, until one time (I remember it quite clearly ) I came back from a mission, hoping for some new Garrus dialogue to unlock, "Hope Garrus has something new to say, Whoo-hoo! He does!" Pause, reflect: "Man, I sure like listening to him tal-OH MY GOD, I'M IN LOVE WITH HIM, AREN'T I?!"  Called my friends, confessions were made, weird looks were recieved, support groups were had...and I eventually came to accept it. As the game went on, I started finding certain things about him physically attractive, and then those same traits in other turians.

My point is, I think physical attraction to Shepard is something that's not particularly prominent in the beginnings of the relationship, but I have a feeling that it's gonna (or already has) snowball into physical attraction.

Just the way I see it.
