I thought upgrading the Normandy's medical bay sounded like a good idea for the mission, in case anyone got injured you could still save them. I thought you'd have to ask Mordin specifically to fix up Shepard's face after you upgraded the bay, or something. Alas, no.

I think Garrus' scars will heal up grey-black and be much less noticeable. I wouldn't mind even if they were, though. I just want him to lose the bandage as soon as possible.

Also, someone mentioned wanting their Shepard to have an eyepiece like Garrus' earlier in the thread. Response: YOU TOTALLY CAN!! It's called a "visor" or something, and it increases your headshot damage by 10%. My Shepard has one, and she and Garrus make a totally Genius Bruiser team. My Shepard rocks gold armor, though. Can't have them too matchy-matchy lol.

Garrus is the BEST.



Him and my Shepherd are best badass friends. We compliment each other's renegadeness, and kick criminal ass all day. He was second team leader and teamed up with me to take down the final boss. We go way back.

Made an account just for the sake of replying to this thread.

Garrus. I had a crush on him since the first ME and decided to forgo all the other (god awful) romance options to pine for him. When I heard he was romanceable in ME2 I did a little dance. 

I love the dynamic between the two of them and my Sheppard's story with him just feels so right. This is why I'm saddened and worried by how the romance actually played out. I did think that it was incredibly sweet and cute, and it did -fit,- but part of me felt uncomfortable about it, like he wasn't ok with it and I was taking advantage of him.

I've heard some of those concerns echoed here, so I guess I'll just describe how I kind of viewed the romance and why it was so troubling. I'm wondering if anyone else saw it that way and I'm curious to get people's thoughts.

One way to view it, to me, is that Garrus has always looked up to Sheppard and was grateful that she gave him an out from, and purpose after, c-sec. He accepted her moral guidance and took to heart what she said. Overall immensely respected her. She dies, he loses his mentor and her guidance and goes back to his old habbits to cope. He blames himself and his weakness (possibly not living up to what she had taught him) for the loss of his team. Joins up with Shep again, damaged and friendless except for her.

Up until now they've simply been the best of friends and he'd never thought of her as anything more. When she brings up "blowing off steam" he is completely taken off guard. However in his damaged state, her being the only person he has, he kind of latches onto that and thinks "why not?" and says he'll consider it. When you listen to his reasoning it's basically that. He says he respects her and she's all he has.

Overall it just seems like he's in a weird place and goes for it because he doesn't have anyone else and doesn't want to lose her as a friend. It seems like he's doing it because she wants to, not because he wants to; to appease her. His awkwardness, lack of attraction to her, and the fact that all of the "let's just be friends" responses are paragon makes me wonder and makes me sad. : /

It's like she's pressing it and he's just going along with it.

I try not to view it this way, but it got to me and soured the romance for me a bit. What do you guys think?

I have to say after reading so many pages of this thread I've definitely been swayed and felt better about the whole thing, but this view still nags at me.

Agh! It just annoys me that just talking to Thane PLATONICALLY gets you all this flirting and here's Garrus, perfect for Sheppard, and he's all  "I'm not really into humans but I RESPECT you so much I think we should touch our interspecies naughty bits together....I guess." Wtf.

Even if that isn't the case, the two gripes I did have about the relationship was that he wasn't attracted to her (I know he said humans but it's hard not to take that personally ) and that the relationship starts out with sex. Seems weird for an attractionless relationship to start out with a booty call.

I think turians live longer than humans and salarians, but not as long as krogan or asari. I don't know if it's directly stated, but I kind of infer it from the game. On Illium, there's an asari afraid to commit to her krogan boyfriend, because their relationship would actually last most of her lifespan. On the Citadel, there's a turian man refusing to have the "lifespans talk" with his asari girlfriend.

I think turians can keep kicking for somewhere between 200-300 years. Which isn't bad, as I think with new technology, humans can last up to 150 years. Although I severely doubt either Shepard or Garrus have to worry about dying of old age.

And I still think Garrus is somewhere between 28 and 32 in Mass Effect 2. At least a couple years younger than Shepard.

Aria would probably be slightly disgusted. "Ugh, do-gooder sex!"

btw, have any of you noticed that Joker has a comment about each team member when you pick them up? And then a different comment when you take them on a mission with you? You ask him about "the mission" and "the squad" respectively. His comments about Garrus are gold. 

Yeah, I loved Joker's commentary on the crew, especially his "Looks like Garrus finally worked that stick outta his ass, but now he's trying to beat guys to death with it". The only problem is that I ended up hearing it way too often, because even though I cycled through the 2nd slot, Garrus was always in my party (which is why I practically have it memorized by now).

Good to hear! Err...about the fanfic, not the snowstorm, those are a pain. Unless of course you're excited for the opportunity to relax, which is good, though the cleanup afterwards is a headache. *Is Canadian*

For those concerned over Shepard "forcing" Garrus into a relationship. The guy knows what he wants and he repeatedly jumps at the opportunity, except when he's concerned if this is what Shepard wants.



@1:04 in the video, Shepard even brings it up with him about how she doesn't want to pressure him and if he's uncomfortable with this to just say so. Garrus wants this. He's not uncomfortable or pressured, but he's nervous because this is Shepard, a woman he cares very deeply for.



So...don't feel bad. It's not like he's a nervous virgin who's bumbling around without a clue, it's just that he's discussing getting intimate with a (human) woman he cares deeply for.

Where do you get the Visor? I have the ugly one you get in Omega which projects the blue field over the whole side of your face, but I've seen one that looks kinda like the red-screened visor in KOTOR, which is thinner and covers both eyes. I really hope that it isn't the one you can only get from the U.S-only Dr. Pepper thing.

@Melisana, nice that you joined us and put your thought I know how you feel, I feel the same, I can say I have some fear but be otpimistic and that is what is this thread for...That all these brave people didn't fight for him to get romance for ME2 ...^^ now we must be loud that we get happy ending in ME3. That is why all this maniacly posting here. Apologize, don't have something too much constructive to write. Europe here and I am sleepy ^^...hihi enjoy your stay

I am a little jealous of the Tali fans to be honest, since she basically tells Shepard that she had been crushing on him all throughout ME1 and just never thought he'd be interested in her. We don't really get anything like that with Garrus.



I still like the Garrus romance as a whole, though. I just hope it's more...romance-y in ME3.

Anyway, this is what I'm hoping and how I try to see it but I had to vent anyway. I would feel better if he had initiated. Seems Thane doesn't initiate either, not sure about Jacob. For me it's just odd because I get this impression of a Sheppard on the prowl.
