Greetings, my fellow Garrus fans =)
I must say I really enjoy reading all those pages of Garrus love and discussion. Now let me contribute to the thread by bringing up a question that passed my mind when I read the email from Dr. Michel (you get it some time after recruiting Garrus).
Do you think Garrus has been in a serious relationship before? Something permanent? The way Dr. Michel words it in the mail sounds like he didn't have time for that. I think she writes something like "always so busy with his crusades and grand passions that he focuses on them to the exclusion of everything and everyone else".
Any thoughts?
My first impression after reading Dr. Michel's message was that she wanted to jump his bones bad, seriously. It even became a joke around the house between me and my mom (she likes to watch me play). As to whether or not Garrus has had any serious relationships before, it certainly doesn't seem like it. Then again, they don't really tell us a lot about Garrus' past either.
So that could mean anything, but my first guess would be that he hasn't had any real experience in a serious relationship.

I do have a question for most women involved here.
As a gay man and a man who wants Garrus just as much as you, would you be offended if Garrus ever did have an option for male shep as well? Some girls (most) would prefer to have Garrus be a pure ladies man in their minds. If he ever did have an option for us gay men who love him, would it ruin or tarnish what you have with him?
I ask because Bioware would need to consider this kinda thing too. Many people would object, even if his sexual actions would be decided by either straight people or gays (and he wouldn't be labeled as being either). The 'option' for him to be with us guys would still most likely offend more people than I imagine, though.
I can role a femshep and be happy with loving him that way, so I'm kinda curious if most women would be as accepting of a maleshep option as I am with femshep.
My take on this is, I'm a straight person through and through - I don't do Bi stuff. So for instances in Dragon Age you have Zevran who goes both ways, and while I like Zevran and romanced him anyway, it still feels a little weird to me. For example, in a real life scenario if Garrus swung both ways, I wouldn't be interested in him romantically anymore simply because I'm a straight person and I guess I'm looking for a strictly straight person in return. It would just be a turn off.
On the other hand, if Bioware built up two separate outcomes, say - if you're a male Shepard you can romance Garrus and he's strictly gay, or if you're a female Shepard you can romance him and he's strictly straight - I'd prefer that personally. It would be like alternate Universes.
It would feel weird to be romancing someone who was Bi in my case, if that's how they did it, but it'd be nice if everyone got a little something out of it too. I may be in the minority here though because my views on sexuality seem a bit more unyielding when it comes to my orientation and that of my partner's, regardless of the species involved.
