I do have a question for most women involved here.

As a gay man and a man who wants Garrus just as much as you, would you be offended if Garrus ever did have an option for male shep as well? Some girls (most) would prefer to have Garrus be a pure ladies man in their minds. If he ever did have an option for us gay men who love him, would it ruin or tarnish what you have with him?

Absolutely not. I'm completely for same-sex romances. Slash is hot, after all. Posted Image Hopefully in ME3 there will be a Garrus option for you gents. And a Miranda option for us ladies

Garrus as bi? Hell, why not? ^^ I fully support this :) He is wonderfull char. Why Bioware didn't make him already as bi? I don't get it...
Anyway I hate when my boyfriends talk about their ex lovers xD, I was jealous when Garrus started about that turian woman lol but I think it happened just once. He reminds me on that type of guys who trying in public give impression of "main dude", all womans fall on him, he is confident, charm but actually he just pretends and actually he is kind of guys, when you catch him in private he opens himself and you find out he is not actually  very experienced, shy abit, maybe insecure and have no clue no matter if it is human or turian xD. I think he didn't very bother about relationships and flings especially because he was too much occupied in making galaxy a better place except when it comes to Shepard. And as someone already said, saving galaxy, acting a Batman is his love his obsession.
I think that Shepard is honored to be his first and serious, true love in the end :) That is how I see him...maybe there is something what I missed about him and this all what I wrote can be wrong but well...

Wow I am very surprised so many ladies support the idea!

Damn, if only everyone was as cool as the Garrus fans are.. Best bunch of accepting love-first people I've yet seen. Not that I ever expect to have Garrus get bisexual in the third game, but if he did, at least the females would support us gay guys getting our chance at romance too... Trust me it's nice to know

Greetings, my fellow Garrus fans =)

I must say I really enjoy reading all those pages of Garrus love and discussion. Now let me contribute to the thread by bringing up a question that passed my mind when I read the email from Dr. Michel (you get it some time after recruiting Garrus).

Do you think Garrus has been in a serious relationship before? Something permanent? The way Dr. Michel words it in the mail sounds like he didn't have time for that. I think she writes something like "always so busy with his crusades and grand passions that he focuses on them to the exclusion of everything and everyone else".

Any thoughts?

My first impression after reading Dr. Michel's message was that she wanted to jump his bones bad, seriously. It even became a joke around the house between me and my  mom (she likes to watch me play). As to whether or not Garrus has had any serious relationships before, it certainly doesn't seem like it. Then again, they don't really tell us a lot about Garrus' past either.

So that could mean anything, but my first guess would be that he hasn't had any real experience in a serious relationship.

I ask because Bioware would need to consider this kinda thing too. Many people would object, even if his sexual actions would be decided by either straight people or gays (and he wouldn't be labeled as being either). The 'option' for him to be with us guys would still most likely offend more people than I imagine, though.

I can role a femshep and be happy with loving him that way, so I'm kinda curious if most women would be as accepting of a maleshep option as I am with femshep.

My take on this is, I'm a straight person through and through - I don't do Bi stuff. So for instances in Dragon Age you have Zevran who goes both ways, and while I like Zevran and romanced him anyway, it still feels a little weird to me. For example, in a real life scenario if Garrus swung both ways, I wouldn't be interested in him romantically anymore simply because I'm a straight person and I guess I'm looking for a strictly straight person in return. It would just be a turn off.

On the other hand, if Bioware built up two separate outcomes, say - if you're a male Shepard you can romance Garrus and he's strictly gay, or if you're a female Shepard you can romance him and he's strictly straight - I'd prefer that personally. It would be like alternate Universes.

It would feel weird to be romancing someone who was Bi in my case, if that's how they did it, but it'd be nice if everyone got a little something out of it too. I may be in the minority here though because my views on sexuality seem a bit more unyielding when it comes to my orientation and that of my partner's, regardless of the  species involved.

That I am in their foots I wouldn't wait for ME3... I would demand free dlc where Garrus would be able as bi option because, I am straight woman and this waiting for ME3  and more Garrus already driving me nuts and even afraid to think how this gay/bi/lesb population who really gets nothing about LIs feel if I feel like this then. I am sick of dlcs where you get tons of equipment but actually you get nothing. I finished in Dragon Age with tons of dlc equipment which most of it I even didn't use it. I was totally lost with it.

Are you asking what's in Dr. Michel's? If so, here's the transcript:

Dear Commmander Shepard,

I was relieved to hear that you were alive. I was devastated to hear about the destruction of the Normandy, and those people who didn't make it off in time. After you went missing and were presumed dead, I feared I'd never see you or Garrus ever again. You and he did so much to help clean up the Wards when you were hunting for Saren. The galaxy needs more people like you, and I'm glad you're still here to protect those of us who've grown to depend on both of you.

Is Garrus with you again, by any chance? After being so happy to hear of your survival, I wondered if perhaps he might have ended up with you. I left a few messages on his public accounts, but you know how he is about checking his mail, and I don't think the Comm address I had for him works anymore, because he hasn't returned any calls. Always so busy on his grand crusades, his great passions, that he focuses on them to the exclusion of anything or anyone else.

Anyway, if you know where he might be, I would really love to hear from him. Or both of you could come by the next time you're near the Citadel.

Thanks!

Chloe Michel

.... What I got from that: "Hi, glad you're not dead. Because if you were dead, I couldn't ask you something very important! Have you seen Garrus? I've been stalking him and he keeps avoiding me! I LOVE YOU GARRUS! Please call me KTHXBAI."

Okay, maybe not, but let's face it; girl's got a thing for him. And frankly, I can't blame her.

Dr. Michel, FemShep, Kelly... Dang, Garrus. Someone should just make a comic with -every- female crewmember having the hots for Garrus and he's just completely oblivious to it while he calibrates...

Garrus cant be strictly gay at this point because of what he's already said in ME2.

I don't blame you for not wanting him bisexual because of your own tastes, and I respect your view. But guys like me are really heartbroken they can't get the love of the characters you can. When it comes down to it, how are your desires for loving garrus any less valid than mine?

I'd prefer it if Garrus had at least one meaningful romantic relationship before. I think "first human" is enough first for this relationship, I tend to prefer people with life experience.

Also, totally in support of bi Garrus.

I completely support bisexual relations with Garrus. I don't think Shepard's the first relationship he's been in, I imagine he had a couple girlfriends that just didn't work out.

I'm not even sure it would be all that difficult to work into ME3.  The MaleShep version only needs a few additional lines of dialogue to bring him up to par with what FemShep has gone through with Garrus.  It just needs to address the natural relationship they share as soldiers and then take that one step further/deeper.

I don't think she meant to invalidate anyone's feelings, the question was asked if she would mind it and she simply answered honestly.

Personally, I just don't see Garrus as the type to go for men. Maybe it's my mindset about gender roles talking, and I acknowledge that this view makes little sense given he's already seeing past his own species, I don't know.

That said, I don't actually think I would mind if he was a ManShep option. I know what Garrus is in my game, it doesn't really concern me how he is in someone else's. It's just like how some FemSheps are interested in Liara and Kelly even though my Shep doesn't swing that way. Or how my Garrus is a Paragon teddy bear, but some people encourage him to be Renegade. Customizing the game to suit your personality is part of the BioWare mission statement, right?

Personally my Femshep just choose to laugh it off. She knows that even if Dr. Michel tries to pull anything that Garrus won't be interested. Not when he's already spoken for. ;)
Though honestly I think the good doctor just developed a close friendship with Garrus rather than a crush, people tend to do that when their lives are saved, so that might be why I didn't feel my Femshep react negatively to that email.

Be damned that day when they put mails in this game -.- I ll get crazy if my box will be full mails of Garrus stalkers grrr. Is it not enough that I am getting spams like send 1000000 messages to different persons if you want to save that drell or if you won't, Normandy will explode or send me 1000000000000000 credits if you want some Protheans datas? It is not enough that I must fight with Collectors and Reapers+ Cerberus, have that silly Kaiden on my back aswell now I must fight with bunch of Garrus stalkers Omg...nerd rage... Good that this game is buggy who knows which other uncomfortable surprises I missed and I imported my char from ME1.
ME3 final decision-choose to save Citadel or Uranus...*choses Uranus*

I don't think your love for Garrus is any less valid than mine at all - I apologize if it comes across that way. Let's face it, we're talking about a game here - in a real life setting this would be a total non-issue because the person either is or isn't, so this is really just a weird circumstances that arises from having the option to romance characters in a video game. I'm just saying that from my perspective it would be slightly awkward because I'm personally not turned on by bi or slash, whatever you want to call it, and prefer a straight person as my romantic interest.

I fully understand your situation and I'm not trying to say that your reasoning doesn't have merit, because it does. I'd feel a little jilted too. Think of it this way - you get to romance him with Femshep, but it still isn't quite what you want, right? Well, if Garrus were Bi it wouldn't be quite what I want either.  The problem is you can't ever please everyone. I wouldn't blame you for being happy if he were Bi or Gay. It wouldn't be as fulfilling for me, but that's just the way the cookie crumbles in the end.

Unless they incorporated my original idea to make Garrus strictly gay for anyone using Maleshep to romance him, and strictly straight for anyone using Femshep to romance him. I think this idea works fine if they were to do it and it would make everyone happy...well...except the people wanting him to be Bi.

But back to not being able to please everyone...such is life I guess.

Hey, my first post in this thread (or forum, didn't see a 'first post' section so meh). I recently got ME2, and am already about 24 hours into it (literally), and it put me back in the Garrus mindset. Been a big Garrus fan since the first game, and I can never get enough of him. Love his new attitude and everything, think he's really developed as a character and what not. But I'm really proud of Garrus for getting himself out there and getting some. Giggity.

Anyway, I found this thread on google, and just had to join the forum in order to get here. I can not have enough Garrus stuff in my life. I even made a little tribute video of sorts for him and his possible FemShep conquests. This seemed like the perfect place to share it.
