But the chat means less action on the forums. We need to represent!

EDIT: Woah, first post on page 47, my lucky number! :D

I hope we get to see a female turian in ME3. They gave us male quarians (which was awesome), so I'm hoping for the last game they just go all out and give us some new genders to gape at.

Me too. And for some reason I really hope they look drastically different than the males (not like, different species different, just obviously not the same model tweaked). I just really, really want to go to Palaven.

I'd just like to say that I think that this thread's OP is unrivaled by any other character love thread here on the ME2 forum.
Great job, Eradyn.

That front page is amazing.

Here's to Garrus returning for continuity among all three ME games.

Hello just wanted to throw my support to my Turian buddy. I'll seriously cry if they take Garrus off my squad. Like he'd leave of his own free will!

So maybe I missed this...but did anyone else go all-out Paragon on his loyalty quest?

It was like an Intervention..."Garrus, you're addicted to vengeance." And blocking his Sniper Rifle WITH MY HEAD was very tense. I found it kind of hard to stand up to one of Shepard's oldest friends.

I can see it now...not only will we get a female turian in ME3, but she'll be a squadmate too.

Female turian: Garrus! Long time no see *insert suggestive look and/or tone*
Garrus: *fidgeting uncomfortably* Uh...hi.
Shepard:*glances between the two* So...you know each other then?
Female turain: I've got flexibility, he's got reach.
Garrus: Oh damn...

Absolutely. There was no way he was going to kill Sidonis as long as I was alive and kicking. Shepard's concern for him during the mission mirrored my own perfectly. The resolution to that quest if you take the Paragon option is great and it feels like he finally snaps out of his "I hate everyone" mood.

garrus, you better be back for part 3...

I let him take the shot. Figured that it needed to end, and there was no way I was going to stop him AFTER killing all those mercs. Stopped him from shooting Harkin though.

OP, you missed one of the BEST combat lines he has!

(quietly) "I love this rifle."

Me too, Garrus.  Me too.

After trying to be all Paragon with him with Dr. Saleon, running into him in ME2 I couldn't help but feel like..."Have you learned NOTHING from me?" Shepard's death really hit some people hard. (Garrus seems to be dealing a lot better then Liara, though...)

Blocking his shot on the loyalty quest was sort of bringing him back to that. "You're better then this, Garrus." And I think it's particularly poignant because of the history between Garrus and Shepard. The other loyalty quests you get an interrupt to prevent someone from being killed, but you have to stand in Garrus's line of fire for a long time. You have to really want to stop him.

I wish MaleShep had the option to spar with him.

ROFL.

My Shepard: ... Sorry, we're all full up.

@ComTrav: The only way I can do that mission is full Paragon. Saving Garrus from himself is kind of the point, IMO.

I agree about the sparring, though I think he has a slight edge in hand-to-hand combat.. ::eyes those 'flesh-rending' claws:: >_>

Gah, I would hate that! ...I mean I'd love a female turian squadmate, but not one connected to Garrus. 'Cause I'm immature and possessive like that. Plus BioWare really needs to stop its obsession with male romance interests and the women in their pasts.

Well, I am about to seemingly contradict something I said pages ago in regards to Garrus' loyalty quest. A true friend to Garrus would not let him kill Sidonis. There, I said it.

With ME1, whether you killed Dr. Saleon or not didn't feel like a big moral gamble there. That guy was evil. However, I never let Garrus kill him, I always chose the option to do it myself...or something like that. I...don't remember how that mission goes anymore, haha.

Anyway...as far as his ME2 loyalty mission goes...you can either let him kill Sidonis or don't, it actually doesn't make a difference in terms of gaining his loyalty (and subsequently, being able to romance him). If you do choose to kill Sidonis, I would recommend moving out of the way at the very last second. If you do that, you milk out all the guilt from Sidonis and then Garrus says a clever line just before pulling the trigger.
Honestly, I did this for my first playthrough. I actually had hopes that by that point, Garrus would have made "the right decision" on his own - he's a big boy after all. The way I play renegade is that I avoid babying everyone and everything. Kind of like that fish vs. fishing pole analogy. I never give them the fish, I give them the tools and skills to fish for themselves. If they still can't do it, then that's on them. So, as I was saying...I thought that after hearing Sidonis' story, Garrus would change his mind. He didn't, but hey. At least I got that clever line of his. <_<

Like I said before, though, if you're looking to be a good friend and do right by Garrus, don't let him kill Sidonis. It may not affect the game directly, but from a role-playing perspective it feels like the wrong thing to do for one of your most loyal, trustworthy companions in the whole goddamn galaxy.

I always do the paragon route. I can't help it. EDIT* (I do consider it the right thing to do too - it's just not worth it to kill someone like that and it's not really justice, not when you do it that way. At least meet the guy face to face)

It's understandable why people get a "Have you learned nothing from me" vibe from his loyalty quest, but the situation from the first game is still somewhat different.  In ME1 he was dealing with a criminal that hadn't hurt him personally, but other people, and was obsessed with disposing of him because he'd gotten away from him the first time. I don't get the feeling that Garrus  would hurt innocent people to get to the bad guy at this point - at least I hope not, in which case he still would've learned something. He's all for hurting the bad guys - a bit too enthusiastic about it maybe.

In ME2 it's a way more personal for Garrus what happened with Sidonis. We already know his behavioral tendencies and how he reacts to things that are wrong and unjust. So ME2's circumstances play on his faults in the worst way, and while I believe he did learn something in the ME1, this takes things up a considerable notch from that.

ME1 was more about damaged pride. ME2 was about revenge, though I can't understand why you'd want to get revenge on someone without at least lording it over the person so that they know it's you who blows their brains out.

Garrus needs a lesson in psychology - if you really want revenge, you give them a good scare so that they think you're going to kill them, then let them live with the knowledge that you're watching their every move from that day forward. Very effective I think. Not to mention, you get to do it with a clear conscience!

It's what I'd do.

What I'm trying to say is, I don't believe that his loyalty mission is an indication that he's learned nothing at all - just that he's Garrus and he reacts to things without thinking at times. Life has been tough for him for the past two years and it has a way of wearing on you, especially when your mentor sort of died for 2 years. That can't be healthy for the psyche.

It's always the way. I kip for a few hours and theres five pages to trawel through. Finally got round to reading them all. Now lets see what we have.

Well, who knows. In the end it could be that FShep has no way of escaping the impending doom at then end and so is fated to die alone. That is until the love Interest comes back and stays with them. That might be how it ends though I prefer FShep survivning myself. And heres hoping that they bump up the age rating as well. ME was 12, ME2 was a 15 now all it needs is for ME3 to be an 18 and we'll be laughing. I liike the idea of a love triangle, and to hear Garrus say the L word to FSHep will be something.

THat fanart of Rascaltiy captures the moment perfectly. AFter I'm finished here, I'm goning to fave that in me Devart account. It's brilliant.

Hmmm, cereal huh? Garrusicles anyone.

Also I like those sigs. Thanks to the person letting us use them.

Indeed.  I'm an Ashley supporter as far as LIs go, but I love the friendship that develops between Shepard and Garrus over the course of ME1 and ME2. It just sucks that Garrus has hardly anything to say to you in ME2 if you're a male. How many damn calibrations can he make in one day? Can't he ever chill with Shepard and have a dextro-friendly beer while they watch Super Bowl CCXIX in his cabin?

Re: Loyalty Mission

To me his attitude isn't so much about him reverting to his old personality as it is grief and anger forcing him into old habits (and some frightening new ones). He has no objectivity about Sidonis, he just wants revenge regardless of his personal beliefs. That's why he only tries to justify it in passing. It's not about what he thinks is 'right', it's about what he wants. Shepard's job is to give him what he needs.

@Randy: Maybe he's got a viewscreen hidden under the battery console and he's secretly watching the games in there.

Garrus: ::turns off the feed:: Uhh, hi, Shepard! I was just... calibrating.

Heheh. Garrus...takes no prisoners and gets the job done. But poor Pallin's gone now. :( Now we have Executor Chellick. :3 Hopefully he'll be forgiving of any Shepards who went and screwed up his case with the illegal weapons mods.

I just want to say that the implication of  Pallin being dead makes me want to cry because I've been writing a fanfic with him as one of the lead characters (a story that's not finished incidentally) and that REALLY curdles the milk in my cheerios.

ARGGHHH! How am I ever going to finish it now? :crying: It should've been finished a year ago - pathetic, I know. I'm sure anyone who was reading it then has probably given up on me by now, but still...

Very depressing.

I can see the dialogue wheel now.
(Top Option): Support Saints
(Bottom Option): Support Colts
(Middle Option):  I'm just watching for the commercials

But the lack of non-LI interaction is a problem across the board (except for Thane.) It just feels more glaring with Garrus and a MaleShep because they go back to the first game. (Well, it's also pretty glaring with Jack, who always ends up telling you to eff off....)
