Using Garrus a lot in my Infiltrator playthrough....Overload is always nice, and Concussive Shot is good against barriers. Debating between Thane and Legion to complete the all-sniper team.

Legion is a better sniper because he can use the Widow and get the Geth Shield Boost; I don't think Thane has any unique upgrades like that. I tried to roll with a balanced team, but biotics got kinda nerfed this round, and I had no problem with my most-used party combos being only combat/tech.

Out of curiosity, was it mentioned where Garrus came from in turian space? The codex entry on the Unification War talks about the turians who came from the different planetary colonies used different facial markings. I'm not sure if this implies that the ones from Palaven didn't/don't use them or not. Any clarification out there?

Paladin: all we know about Garrus's past is that he was raised on Palaven; it's possible his markings are homeworld markings, or that his family moved from another colony to Palaven.

Did anyone else mentally name their team combos?

Team Cerberus (obvious)
Team Hand of Justice (Samara and Garrus)
Team Alien Lovin' (Garrus and Thane)
Team This is Awkward (Legion and Tali OR Grunt and Mordin)
Team ME1 (Garrus and Tali)
Team Not Me1 (Garrus and Grunt)

rofl.. Team This Is Awkward.

Grunt and Garrus should be Team Muscle! Seriously, how can you not look imposing with those two at your flank?

hahah enormous. nice. the "alien lovin" team and "this is awkward" are some team combos I've used. though having Garrus and Thane on a mission kinda is unbalanced. Two snipers, but it worked for one mission i was on

Garrus/Tali
Garrus/Miranda

Are my often combos.

Ha, I would joke with my friends that I was running with my male harem (Garrus and Thane). Team This is Awkward sounds great, though, lol.

Team Nostalgia (Tali and Garrus again)
Team Replacements (Grunt and Samara/ Miranda and Jacob)
Team Awkward (Garrus and Jacob, when I was romancing both at the same time)

I think those might not be his homeworld's markings. I think those are C-Sec markings. In ME1 you could see that most C-Sec Turians had blue insignias on their faces. I doubt they were all from Palaven. Still there's the possibility.

Rolled with Miranda+Grunt a lot of the time (with Miranda's full squad health upgrade...team "Get Behind Grunt"?)
Also "Team Tuchanka Side Missions" (Mordin+Grunt.)
And everyone has their ME1 Throwback Team of garrus and Tali.
Anti-AI Team: Tali+Legion. (Tali didn't have as much to say on Legion's side mission as I hoped...)
I think I'l try Grunt+Jack as Team Loose Cannons. (Sigh, if I only I could get Shepard to say, "Your body's writing checks your body can't cash!" and "You're dangerous. More dangerous then the enemy.")

I must have missed this. Was it something the devs dropped by on the forums to talk about or do I need to go replay some part of ME1 to find out? It's been a while so my memory is a bit fuzzy.

C-Sec doesn't have markings, it's a job. Turian facial markings are from their colony (though whether it's where their family is from or where they personally originated is up in the air). It's the shapes that are important, not the color. Only turians I can recall with the same markings are Nihlus and the turian councilor.

@Shadow: Talk to him planetside on Therum and Virmire, two of his lines are "And I thought Palaven was hot" and saying that Virmire reminds him of where he grew up on Palaven.

He mentions growing up on Palaven if you take him with during Virmire (he says it reminds him of Palaven).

I don't think they're C-Sec markings. The Codex clearly states it has to do with birthplace, doesn't it? I think it's just a coincidence or an aesthetic choice on the part of the character design team.

Hmm, will have to see if I have a Virmire save. Thanks for clarifying. I'm also pretty sure that being part of C-Sec has nothing to do with it as I seem to recall both Chellik and Pallin having had different markings despite working for the same place.

I know he talks about it. I know almost everything about him. You can see blue markings on all the C-Sec Turian officers. I think they're C-Sec markings. However his are different from the other Turians so they could be the Palaven insignia. Who knows?

No, they aren't C-Sec markings. The facial tattoos/markings are for colonial origins, not for their job. Garrus has a unique pattern that isn't replicated by other turians as well, although some others do have a similar/same color.

I don't recall seeing many variations in color of the colony markings, actually. Blue and white and...? Wasn't there a dump of turian screenshots somewhere upthread? This is bugging me now.

Mass Effect MMORPG, one of the features being 500 different combinations of facial markings and colors for your turian character. I can just see it.

Maybe not as an MMO, but I would like the option to play as a non-human protagnist.

I realize that this messed with a lot of the cinematic presentation and voicework that is the ME style. I'd totally buy ME: Origins, though =).

The MMO thing was a slight jab at how many people freak out about customization in those games. Although I'd probably play an MMO set in the ME universe, now that I think about it.

I know that. I'm just saying that they could be for C-Sec since all the Turians in there have similar markings, plus the Salarians in there also have blue markings. My theory is that they use them to indicate that they're C-Sec. Like I said Garrus' markings are different from all those Turians so maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

I thought about that before, and now I'd really like to see one. Perhaps after ME3 they might think about it...?

...Also, did someone mention something about playing as a non-human?

How do they have similar markings? I just went through Riot's screenshot folders (bottom of page 36, if anyone else wants a look. Thanks, Riot!) and got nothing, aside from color (and I've only seen blue, white, red, and brown tattoos, so there might only be certain colors that are used). A lot of them are barefaced, actually. Makes sense, if a lot of C-Sec turians are born and raised on the Citadel. (also, if there were C-Sec markings, no turian cop would ever be able to go undercover)

And I get the feeling that it's probably extremely uncool in turian society to alter colony designs or get one if it's not your colony; otherwise, barefaced turians wouldn't exist.
