Hoo, I'm loving all the new posts here in the thread. So I wanted to give everyone a heads-up on the following. I managed to learn how to mod certain aspects of ME2 and am having a bit of fun with experimentations, especially since I'd like to have the option of playing as (or having on my team) pre-injury Garrus.
First, Garrus uses a different head and body model pre-injury, which means using TexMod to "heal" his face and armor is out. The facial textures between the models don't match and they're applied differently. However, even if you use Adobe to cut them up so they DO match, the head model itself has the bandaged area raised into the air - you can still see it even when retextured.
Secondly, his player model isn't compatible with NPC textures for the same reason - the texture layouts just don't match up and it displays them skewed on his body. Someone could, of course, do a ton of work to make them compatible via Adobe, but I lack the skill. For me, hope lies in the .ini file which can be used to swap his appearance to an NPC - I just need to figure out NPC model tags to do so. From there, his face can be given the standard pre-burn Archangel texture (sans scanner) via TexMod. Likewise, if I can locate the tag for the Archangel model, I can simply swap the two altogether.
Finally, I have unlocked the camera and God mode through a mod of the coalesced.ini file, so expect to see a lot of high-res cinematic-style turian NPC pics and turian battle shots in the very near-future (hopefully this weekend).
