Heh, "You wouldn't have. It is possible to love more than once in your lifetime" doesn't sound like fooling oneself to me, but I take him at face-value. Whatever floats your boat.
Maybe not 'perfect', but they have flat out said that was the only reason he was created, to be attractive to the ladies.
They never said that was the *only* reason he was created either, only that it was the consideration of his design. And, frankly, characters grow past their design into their own. Garrus is an example of this. The devs didn't expect much from him in ME1, much less the fan response, but here it came! He wasn't the most interesting of individuals either with his C-Sec obsession but he *worked* in the potential department, and they took those bits and ran with them in ME2. It's interesting to see how he's come into his own... though I wish he had more conversations.
(Never can get enough conversations.)
