@Anastassia: Hmm. I really like Alan Rickman, but can he do an American-ish accent like Garrus'? :o

He can indeed!

After I beat ME2, I went back to ME1 to finish my 'loyal to Kaidan' save, and couldn't help but squee at how sweet Garrus is even in that game.

"Right behind you, Shepard."
"I'm here if you need me."
"Just lead the way."

It was hard to refrain from reading between the lines, as we're so used to doing for ME2 Garrus. He was so straightforward and innocent, and now he's battle-hardened and tired.

It is obvious Garrus just reminds us of our kitty cats! They can be serene and loving, but turn on a dime and get awfully ornery.

Great now when I look at my own cats, I see small fuzzy Turians who like to gnaw on my plants and chase the dog. I should rename my cats Shepard and Garrus.

I am Garrus  Vakarian and Afternoon Delight is my favourite song!
*Garrus turns music on*
*Garrus jumps on Shepards bed and sings* Sky rockets in flight! Afternoon Delight!
I am not inviting him in my room anymore...:?

He always reminded more of a cat than anything else too!  People are always calling him reptilian things like dragons and lizards  but to me he is much more cat-like.

Yeah, what is Garrus's line like that?  Something like:  Shep - I couldn't do this without you, Garrus.  Garrus - Sure you could, just with not as much style.

Heheh, thanks for reminding me of that conversation. Added it to the OP. ^^

Shepard: I couldn't do this without you, Garrus.
Garrus: Sure you could.  Not as stylishly, of course.

Ahhh, that was it.  I really love how his character developed in ME2.  It was hard to imagine how he could get more awesome but they pulled it off (by "pulling the stick out his ass" ;);)).  More wisecracks, more confidence, he seems to really enjoy going out and fighting baddies, and not in an emo it-doesn't-matter-if-I-die-life-is-pointless kind of way, he's out there having fun.  And he seems to have the most non-dialogue character interaction with Shep (male or female, LI or not), where they exchange looks or Shep gives him a soldierly pat on the arm or back, or like that moment during the suicide mission where you think he's been shot (I was prepared to immediately exit to the dashboard and restart..) and Shepard runs over as you realize he's OK, it's the only time Shep almost bares real emotion in the entire mission. When other squadmates die s/he just seems more like a surgeon who's lost a patient or something, not a friend.  I especially love that moment if it's a Garrus-romance playthrough ^_^.

Speaking of which I've been wondering if that happens with any of the other characters? I've never seen a video of another character getting shot and walking it off, only Garrus. Would make sense of course ;).

p.s. I am having trouble getting a Garrus love and adoration banner in my sig.  The ones in the OP don't appear to have an actual link in them?

Have you guys noticed how Thane worship has practically vanished in the last month or so? Now, for the record I love Thane. He's a great LI. One of Bioware's best. I was just wondering if you guys thought people who jumped ship have come back or if it's just a coincidence or what.  This is totally what happened with me.  I wanted a Garrus LI and thought I was nuts for wanting one so when I learned about Thane I latched onto him as a malien option.  I was an active Thanophile until DAO came out.  Then I was too busy playing that to get on the forums.  By the time I came back, Garrus was announced as a recruitable and I reverted to Garrusophile.

Kudos to whoever recommend Alan Rickman to be Garrus' father. Rickman would make an AMAZING turian.

The image links are in the image properties.  Right-click the image you want and select the image url. :) Actually, I'll add that to the instructions. :P

I don't think it has vanished but it is definitely overshadowed.  Personally I am going to have 2 playthroughs, one for each, mainly because I think there's a lot of great potential for Thane's story if they continue it in ME3.  Also, the first time through for some reason I didn't entirely like the way Garrus's romance was presented.  After lots of time on forums reading and discussing ^_^ I have since changed my mind so his will be my canon playthrough.  With his you just have to read between the lines a lot more. But I still like Thane and hope he comes back...and doesn't die...
