Nice thread! Wow, I'm impressed with...everything you tossed in the first post and all the response.

I remember when I first played ME1, I thought, okay, that Lt. guy is cute, but sort of puppy-dog like. But heyyyyy.... who is that sexy voiced turian that sleeps under the Mako in the cargo bay? I LIKE him! I fell in love with his lines such as:

"Stay hydrated." (random phrase from Therum)

"Keep alert. Being cold beats being dead." (random phrase from Noveria)

and my favorite:

"Huh, I guess you're right, Shepard. I never met anyone quite like you before." (upon paragon completion of the Saleon side-mission. Made my heart flip every time.)

I felt like ME1 was such a tease as far as Garrus was concerned. I am so happy they listened to the fans/decided to bring Garrus on as an LI (not sure if they did this in response to fan requests, but hey, I'm glad they did it either way.)

So yes, I second all your requests. It seems to me that the ME1 carry-over romances, whether Ashley, Kaiden, Liara, Garrus, or Tali, are more compelling than the ME2 flings. I want to see them continue please!

Thank you for the kind words and for the Garrus ME1 lines. I'll update the OP. :)

And I definitely agree that the relationships that have been built over the span of these two games are very compelling (granted, I was immensely disappointed with Ashley's reaction to me on Horizon, but it's just another layer to the relationship).

I agree, great first post! Seeing all the lines written out really brings home how fantastic his dialogue and voice acting was; never have I loved flanging more!

Honestly, before playing I thought the whole turian romance just felt wrong, but somehow I ended up gravitating towards Garrus despite myself... MainShep called it quits just before the final mission out of loyalty to Kaidan but I'm seriously considering starting a new Shep from ME1 to romance Garrus.

So curious over how this will develop in ME3!!!

Well, that how i thought in the ME1. Garrus was my fave charactor but I didn't see him with Shepard. But now it is my fave pairing.

I've said it a couple of times, and I'll say it again: your OP is completely awesome.

Aww, thank you!

But there wouldn't be anything to update if you guys didn't create awesome art, stories, pics, banners, and all sorts of wonderful Garrus things, so really I have to give you guys a big THANK YOU for helping the Garrus fandom grow. :)

Speaking of which, I've finished updating the OP (some new things there) as well as the fanfiction/fanart threads.

Aimo's work is awesome.  I've been seriously tempted to commission some Garrus art from her...she does such an awesome job with him.  :)

That was some really good art. I wish the ME2 scene had lasted that long and had all that in it.

yeah, aimo's wonderful pic is an example of how they could have given us a little more in the Garrus scene and still avoid any forms of undressing or weird alien-human make-out scenes, since apparently they were only comfortable with that for Jacob only....

Pfft, Jacob's a show-off, he loses the shirt for the post game cuddling as well. Image IPB

I thought Garrus' scene was very sweet and genuine, even if they didn't show us a whole lot. And besides, they have to save some things for ME3. Image IPB

Wow, this is a great thread, with a lot of amazing fan art and Garrus resources! I just thought I'd drop by and show my hmmm... love and adoration too!

The moment I learned Archangel was a turian, I kept thinking "please be Garrus, please!" His whole recruitement mission was amazing and stressful, especially when he got shot and Zaeed said he wouldn't make it... I thought he was gonna die on me because I'm a goodie-goodie and didn't go all renegade on the gunship mechanics, or because I took too long fending off the mercs in the lower levels (FPS make me really nervous and I mostly hid behind crates while my team kicked butts in the beginning of the game!)

I was a bit disappointed you couldn't just run up to Garrus and give him a hug when he walks into the debriefing room after his recruitement mission. I mean you're thinking that your best friend in the galaxy is dead because you're a sissy and I thought Shephard should have been more relieved to see him alive, no? I only got to call him ugly! :)

On a different note, I know a lot of people have mentionned this already, but I hope ME3 romance can be more than a fling. Blowing off steam just doesn't cut it! I mean the whole romance with Garrus is just sooo sweet and tender. It has to be more!

For the OP: For your list of combat one-liners, I'm not 100% sure but I think Garrus also says "Fire in the hole!"

Oh no, I agree, I guess I'm just saying they could have extended it much like Aimo did and still maintain that "sweet" aspect and leave very much to be imagined or saved for ME3 =).

I doubt it will be "just blowing off steam" in ME3. His words about wanting things to go right for once seemed pretty emotionally serious.

gosh I'm so frustrated :< I'm trying to explain my friend why do I think that turian sounds so sexy, especially Nihlus and Garrus, I even show her some videos on youtube and she still don't get it, is she def or what?

I'm almost ashamed I never really thought of this until you wrote that, but that would be a great extension to the conversation wheel mechanic in ME3 -- "action" choices but distinguishable from the interrupts in ME2.  It wouldn't be there with every conversation but just in certain places where it's appropriate.  Like reuniting with a character, in addition to the three standard options, on the left you have a hug option on top and, if you didn't like their character in the past, maybe a sort of...cold shoulder/start edging away one, or something.

A little off topic but just wanna add: Sometimes I wish the "Neutral" dialogue option didn't always result in Shepard saying something bland or opinionless but actually embraced the "grey area" between paragon and renegade, show Shepard is thinking about the two sides of the issue.

It's that "taught wire" twang to it, like you know something lethal could happen at any moment whenever a turian speaks, especially Garrus.

Kudos to the original poster here, epic thread.

Garrus Vakarian is clearly turian for ultimate badass.

I wonder if his wallet has "Bad Mother****er" on it?
