I want to see all of the kid versions of different species. I kind of want to see a little krogan, because they'd probably be all pudgy and adorable.

Could you imagine a turian kid, with the voice? So -cute-!

I think turian children would all have adorable voices. :D If Shepard gets to see any in ME3, I hope she gets the option to hug one, or at least comment about how cute they are.

A pudgy krogan child would be interesting. xD After seeing Grunt, I've been wondering if that hard helmet-looking thing on their head only starts to grow as they age, because Grunt's does not seem to be fully formed.

+1 for DAO style banter in ME3. (I was so pumped to get the Garrus Tali conversation, it made me so sad there wasn't anything else.)

And I feel like certain interspecies couplings might have more and less acceptance then others. Asari and anyone else seems pretty much fine. ("Oh blue rose, plant your roots in the red soil of Tuchanka...") Quarians are rare enough away from the flotilla that I could see them being regarded as exotic and highly desirable (which may exist side-by-side with their reputation as packrats and scavengers.) There's Mordin's comments on the attractiveness of Salarians.

And I also think that a little bit of prejudice against certain inter-species pairings is appropriate. Maybe even in your ME3 Love Triangle Confrontation! (Kaidin: You left me for Garrus? I mean, I like the guy, but he's....well, I just didn't think that that's what you were looking for.)

Ohmygoodness, the voice!  I did not even think about that. Liddle turian voice, I would just die. <3

Of course, like I said it probably won't happen, and we only have ME3 left unless they're planning spinoff games (are they? I have no idea) .  Do you think they'd ever release any kind of visual companion book, sort like a hard-copy version of the codex with illustrations? A Mass Effect universe encyclopedia of sorts?  Cuz I won't lie, I would jump on that like Garrus on calibrations. It would make my year.

Awesome analogy! XD

And I totally agree, I would buy an ME visual companion in a heartbeat.

Hey guys, it turns out that Garrus is the #2 favourite Mass Effect character (behind Mordin), according to the data collected by that survey thread. Go read the report that XX55XX did, it's really interesting, and it looks like a lot of hard work went into making it.

RE: Asari+something relationships, I think Asari are more acceptable because they've been encouraging their own society to randomize the ol' DNA a bit for a while now, so it's easier to stomach for most people. Also, they don't seem have the attractiveness barrier that one might find between Shep+Garrus, for example (listen to the bachelor party on Ilium). I think I remember Liara saying something about not actually requiring physical contact for reproduction either, so where the incompatible physiologies are concerned, it's not really an issue.

...I'm thinking about this way too much, I need an intervention or something.

That's great now BioWare better not make him a cameo or a lot of people are going to be angry. I thought Tali would take first place though.

Yes, hugging Paragon interrupts!

That's probably true. I wonder if they're bald as kids?

@ComTrav: I didn't romance Garrus with a Kaidan save, but if he pulled that on my Shep after what he said on Horizon, she'd go, "Yeah, who knew what I really wanted was someone loyal, dependable and totally badass? I guess you just don't fit into my 'type'."

(... okay, okay, I'll try to play nice. xD;;; )

That survey is just further proof of what we already knew. Garrus is awesome. Tali didn't take first place because she has more detractors, and that was taken into account (which makes his placing all the sweeter!).

PS: On another note, we hit page 75! Go us! May not have a bazillion like Tali, but what is it Garrus (and Shepard) said in ME1? Don't do things fast, do them right. >8D

I knew that Mordin had unexpected strength somewhere!

I'm not surprised Garrus is #2, but I'm a little surprised #1 isn't Tali. Actually, reading Aris's comments above, I now understand why Tali didn't win.

Okay, I've got a large-scale picture project in mind (I'm thinking of getting a large bristol board sheet for this one, maybe 11x14, idk yet) and yes, it involves Garrus. If you've heard of 'A Hard Day's Night', you may get an idea of what I'm going for (and no, I won't explain it if you don't, heh).

If anyone has a Shepard they want (Female or Male) to be featured or even a fan character based upon one of the ME races (i.e. another turian), PM me any pictures. Digicam shots, PC screencaps, fan artwork... anything works.

This is something that I've been wanting to do for a while now, but I've just now gotten back my artistic inspiration to try. =]

Tali's actually in fifth place, and the author theorized that her score was brought down by people who resented her popularity. Garrus' position makes a lot of sense, he's just an all-around likeable character, and for those who don't nececcarily want to romance him, he's the ultimate "buddy" squadmate.

I'm glad that's true. Thankfully Garrus has no haters or doesn't have any that attract attention. I can't understand why Tali has haters though. It seems to me that those who hate her only hate her for the fun of it.

Yeah when I brought Garrus to Thane's recruitment mission, Garrus did mention that he is impressed with Thane's sniping rifle skills after we helped some salarians. It would be nice if they have a discussion about that after they are both recruited. Personally I think that will have a side effect of making even more people want to play Infiltrator class. ^_^

Probably something like Twilight.  When something has a ton of fans and It's hard to get away from hearing about it, people tend to get irritated easier.  They may not start out hating Tali, but if they feel indifferent towards her they can pretty quickly get tired of all the overexposure and move to the hate side.  I think it's understandable.  I personally don't think she's a FANTASTIC OMG character, but she is a sweetie.  You can bet I reloaded my save when she died in my second playthrough. (ruined my day, that did.)

Garrus doesn't seem to have that problem, though. Maybe because he's too awesome for anyone to be indifferent to him in the first place?

I think Garrus appeals to a lot of people in many ways. Not just in the 'oh he's so attractive' sense for me (though that's a strong part of it. There is something very visually appealing to the eye about Garrus that I can't quite put my finger on), but I really do identify strongly with his views on certain things, like justice/injustice. If I wasn't such a chickens--t, I'd totally start up a vigilante band and fight crime in my home city. And I could strongly sympathize with his feelings about Saleon and Sidonis, but my "other" moral compass won out in the end there.

So yeah, I think his personality and feelings on those issues speak strongly to people like me who hate injustice and political/legal "red tape" getting in the way.

The general consensus seems to be in line with my own preferences, though I would not rate Wrex that high. Mordin, Garrus, Legion, and Tali were all superb characters.

I'm totally opposite. I can NEVER use a sniper rifle in any capacity because that's Garrus's "thing".

I even got jealous on Garrus's behalf when he noted Thane's skill.  "Well, sure, it's kind of impressive...but I bet you could do it while on a unicycle or something, right Garrus?"

Hah, I don't have to do stats anymore, now I can read this stuff just for the fun of it. Image IPB
It is a very fascinating read. Both the "badass" and "funny" characters seem to be really popular, such as Mordin (1st place), Garrus (2nd place), Wrex (3rd place), and Legion (4th place and all-around awesome).

The popularity of the ME1 love interests has taken a bit of a hit as well (Ash and Kaidan 12th and 13th, ouch), though this is understandable and I hope they get redeemed in ME3.

Quick thing to note about the survey results is the sample size, the author has stopped taking in votes after certain number of responses. However, Garrus being rated second right after Mordin is quite acceptable. :)

I'm the same, I never play an Infiltrator or take Thane and Garrus in the same party since I've characterized Garrus as the badass sniper of the group. My perma-team for ME1 was Garrus (sniper), Wrex (tank), and Shepard the squshy wizard...err adept. Each of them had a niche, which I thought was really cool.

I would laugh if Shepard interrupted her conversation with some random turians to hug their child. xD

Turian: Hey, Shepard! We saw you on the Galactic News--
Shepard: So cuuuuuute! :D *hugs the turian child* I have to get one of these!
Turians: Okay... o_o;
Garrus: *facepalm*

Krogan children would look a lot more... soft and squishy, as Grunt would probably call them, without that headpiece. xD

"Don't do things fast, do them right?" xD Looking back on that, it seems like Garrus and Shepard were building their relationship (even the romantic one) from the first ME.

This seems accurate to me. I don't think anyone starts out hating Tali, but her fanbase is so huge and so intense, it's easy to become a little repulsed by it. (I'm still amazed that a character who spent most of ME1 giving Quarian civics lessons has such a massive following.) It just seems so over-the-top, like they're taking it all way too seriously.

Which is funny, because hanging around this thread for a bit has made me like Garrus quite a bit more. That's what the community should do, I think: increase your enjoyment of your hobby. You can bet I'm doing the Garrusmance on my FemShep playthrough.

Haha, I played as an Adept first then Infiltrator, Widow(sniper rifle) is a very fun weapon. :)
I did wish there was an option in that scene to tell Garrus that he could have taken that shot and done just as well.

Ah yes, that does bring up the question, most of the time Garrus defaults to Assault Rifle as his weapon of choice in my playthrough unless I delibrately ask him to switch to Sniper Rifle. Did you guys ask him to use Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle? Granted both Collector Assault Rifle and Incisor Sniper Rifle was pretty good for him.
