I'm totally opposite. I can NEVER use a sniper rifle in any capacity because that's Garrus's "thing".

I even got jealous on Garrus's behalf when he noted Thane's skill.  "Well, sure, it's kind of impressive...but I bet you could do it while on a unicycle or something, right Garrus?"

Haha, I played as an Adept first then Infiltrator, Widow(sniper rifle) is a very fun weapon. :)
I did wish there was an option in that scene to tell Garrus that he could have taken that shot and done just as well.

Ah yes, that does bring up the question, most of the time Garrus defaults to Assault Rifle as his weapon of choice in my playthrough unless I delibrately ask him to switch to Sniper Rifle. Did you guys ask him to use Assault Rifle or Sniper Rifle? Granted both Collector Assault Rifle and Incisor Sniper Rifle was pretty good for him.

Yeah, Garrus defaulted to assault rifle in my games, too.  I think it's just a reflection of his skillset in ME1 where he was AR-focused with SR being the unlocked weapon skill.  I let him use the AR when we got into more close-combat situations then told him to swap to the SR when there was a bit more distance to play with (especially when I play as my Vanguard).  He did well with both, thankfully. :)

Also, VERY interesting (and pleasant) results with that survey.  Our man Garrus is THE man. :D Mordin is absolutely awesome, I wasn't surprised to see him ranked up there at #1.  I mean...not a lot of people dislike the guy (and with good reason).

lol, that report shows that I have exquisite taste; my 3 favorite characters are ranked #1, #2 and #3. B)

Anyway, just dropped by to post a nice and serene screenshot before going to sleep.

Gah, I hated that I had to tell Garrus to use the awesome sniper rifle that I gave him (in the first game as well). Especially after his recruitment mission in which that's all he ever uses, and he's specifically shown sniping in the cutscene.

I normally just let my other squadmates act on their own, except for which abilities/powers to use. xD I'm still getting used to the new inventory and weapon system too. (Are there any stores that will sell Shepard some more grenades, or is her grenade launcher pretty much useless now? Same for that awesome particle beam laser thing... that was fun while it lasted.)

Aside from that, I just try not to accidentally make Shepard shoot at her own team..

As far as I'm aware, heavy weapons ammo is universal, so you just need to find some power cells and whatever heavy weapon you're using will be good to go.

I'm glad that's true. Thankfully Garrus has no haters or doesn't have any that attract attention. I can't understand why Tali has haters though. It seems to me that those who hate her only hate her for the fun of it.

Probably something like Twilight.  When something has a ton of fans and It's hard to get away from hearing about it, people tend to get irritated easier.  They may not start out hating Tali, but if they feel indifferent towards her they can pretty quickly get tired of all the overexposure and move to the hate side.  I think it's understandable.  I personally don't think she's a FANTASTIC OMG character, but she is a sweetie.  You can bet I reloaded my save when she died in my second playthrough. (ruined my day, that did.)

Garrus doesn't seem to have that problem, though. Maybe because he's too awesome for anyone to be indifferent to him in the first place?

This seems accurate to me. I don't think anyone starts out hating Tali, but her fanbase is so huge and so intense, it's easy to become a little repulsed by it. (I'm still amazed that a character who spent most of ME1 giving Quarian civics lessons has such a massive following.) It just seems so over-the-top, like they're taking it all way too seriously.

Which is funny, because hanging around this thread for a bit has made me like Garrus quite a bit more. That's what the community should do, I think: increase your enjoyment of your hobby. You can bet I'm doing the Garrusmance on my FemShep playthrough.

/highfive

I love it when this thread converts people, it is our duty to bring word of Garrus' greatness to the masses. Image IPB

I did like Tali in ME1, though less so than Wrex who was the third wheel in my squad. I thought Bioware did a great job improving her character in ME2 though, and I loved having someone from the first game back. It's a shame that her Godzilla-thread seems to be creating haters, I much prefer the atmosphere of the Garrus thread. We may not have as many pages, but we have quality over quantity. Image IPB

Thanks. :) I'll have to pay more attention to what Shepard finds in all of those crates and storage lockers she steals from.

I like Tali too but not as much as I like Garrus. I support her because she's the only alien option for males and because I want everyone who survived from ME2 to come back. Her romance is still nothing compared to Garrus'. Garrus' romance is just way more emotional. It also seems like Garrus can get a rest, knowing that someone in the galaxy appreciates his talents and cares for him.

I suspect that Garrus' romance will bring up a lot of scandals. I can imagine someone as dumb as Udina telling you something stupid. He would probably say that being romantically involved with a Turian makes humanity look bad. I bet stuck up Turians like the Turian Councilor will probably make a big deal out of it. Although the exact opposite could happen and people could start seeing this as a step forward between Turian/Human cooperation. I'd love to see what Garrus' father would think. I think i heard something about female Shepard wearing face paint somewhere in this thread. If it does happen it would be really cool but then again part of me thinks like that's a Turian thing and wouldn't fit well with a human.

I think it'd actually be kind of disappointing if they didn't include prejudices against Shep/Garrus. It would make it seem less real if everyone went, 'Hey, whatever floats your boat, Shepard...'

Yeah I agree, but I'd like to see both sides. Some people praising you by showing that Turians and Humans can get along. I'd still like to see humans calling Shepard a "Turian lover" or someone insulting Garrus. I can't wait to see what the Turian councilor says about it. Oh boy it's going to be interesting how this works out.

I would loooooove to be seen as a Turian lover. Not just because any positive comments they'd then give me would make my heart swell, but because it would most likely cause Ashleys head to implode; and Udina would more than likely go into cardiac arrest. And hey who doesn't want to see Citadel paramedics in action?

In the end I'm not sure if the hero that is shepard would ultimately improve Turian/Human relations, or hurt it. One would hope it would encourage people to treat Turians with more respect and to forget Shanxi, but look at all the dammed racists! O_O Shepard/Garrus could very well be the first Turian/Human couple, and you know what it's like being the first.... Imagine the media..

I could imagine a certain reporter asking you about it. "Is it true you prefer Turians over Humans due to starting a relationship with the Turian Garrus Vakarian?". That would be just about it, I've never punched that woman but I'm taking that into consideration if she tries to make Garrus look bad or my Shepard look bad.

I actually took Garrus in there the first time I went to clear it out and the resulting line from him about halfway through is pretty funny. He gives a little cough and goes "Oh, that's not good." in that great perma-sarcasm tone he does so well.

So afterwards I decided to shoot Thane to see his reaction instead. Thane: It's me... Shepard.

Okay, I've got a large-scale picture project in mind (I'm thinking of getting a large bristol board sheet for this one, maybe 11x14, idk yet) and yes, it involves Garrus. If you've heard of 'A Hard Day's Night', you may get an idea of what I'm going for (and no, I won't explain it if you don't, heh).

If anyone has a Shepard they want (Female or Male) to be featured or even a fan character based upon one of the ME races (i.e. another turian), PM me any pictures. Digicam shots, PC screencaps, fan artwork... anything works.

This is something that I've been wanting to do for a while now, but I've just now gotten back my artistic inspiration to try. =]

A Hard Day's Night? Ha ha, I think I know what you have in mind, and it shall be epic. Best of luck.

I ended up getting confused because he was between Shepard and the enemy, so it looked like the enemy lifebar was over Garrus. xD I think he said, "Watch your fire!" It's a good thing they don't remember getting shot later, but if they did, it would be cool if Shepard had the option to tell Garrus, "You were taking your sweet time and I had to get you moving."

YES! And afterwards the issue is discussed by a panel who conclude that relationships with aliens are "against family values", and worry about what this will do to the children.

I am a sucker for positive Turian reinforcement, too! XD Like that rodan shopkeeper being all "I'd name my first born after you!" made me giggle-fit like a madman. Everything I do in this game seems to support Turians in some fashion or other, and any time one is like "HI! :D " at me I almost fall over with glee.

I am sad like that.. I would send the entire alliance fleet to defend Palaven to the death (from the reapers or otherwise) if only for one Turian to smile at me or want to hug or something :(
