"Sorry, Shepard. Won't be with you at the end. Snipe one for me, would you?"
It was tragic. Don't have a recorder, but I took a screencap. You can't tell so much from the shot I managed to get (was not about to do it again to get a better one), but Shepard looked really upset (this wasn't an LI save, since there's no way you can get him killed as second team leader if he's loyal).
Warning: Screencap may induce frownie faces.

I just went D: so hard.
It's so bad even before that, because when you know he's going to live you can hear him all upbeat and 'scratch one!' and 'yeah!' over the radio, but if you don't do his mission, you can tell it affects his performance because he's all cursing and sounds kind of frustrated and/or frantic.
Gaaaah. I can't leave the thread in this mood. So I'm posting Happy Garrus again. Remember, friends; Garrus didn't really die!

Okay, so I did the suicide mission while purposely leaving out Garrus' loyalty mission because I just HAD TO KNOW what he said. And now I am depressed. It was very tragic. The music stopped, and Shepard was totally distraught, but Garrus played it cool to the end...

If nothing else he supports your decision to keep it. It was one of the small but most awesome parts of the game actually, the way he put hand on Shepard's shoulder while she's fiddling with the reactor thing. A sort of unspoken "i know this wasn't easy call for you but i'm with you" gesture.Eradyn wrote...
I've actually heard Garrus defend keeping the base. I think there's always at least one character on the squad who will argue for that...at least that's how it's been in all of my boss-team configurations (exclusion being Miranda) although I haven't tested every combo with Garrus. I still blew up the base, though.
Of course, for all i know it might be stock gesture and it happens when you blow the base too but that's my version of the story and i'm sticking to it

Since you guys are posting pics, (and I haven't seen the link posted here yey) here's one from my favorite artist at deviantart which I think you will enjoy. It's for the people who thought the romance scene between Shepard and Garrus was too short.

So... has Afternoon Delight become Garrus' theme song now?
Because I'm totally down with that.
In answer to your question:

...yes
Also, another Garrus fact: If a person hears the voice of god, his head explodes, because man cannot comprehend a voice better than Garrus Vakarian's.

"I'm pretty sure you can't romance Legion, despite how terrible your face looks, and I'm certain you can't romance a character of the same sex, unlike in the previous Mass Effect or even other BioWare RPGs of late.
Hudson didn't tell me why the team opted to not include this option in Mass Effect 2, but he did say that the option will come back in Mass Effect 3 -- if you laid the groundwork for it in the original game."
...So there might be same-sex options in ME3? >.>

IGN: Will there be gay relationships for the male Shepard? Here at
IGN we've heard a lot of positive feedback from the inclusion of gay
relationships in Dragon Age; compare that with the somewhat conspicuous
absence of them from the first Mass Effect, especially with the chance
for a lesbian relationship.
Ray Muzyka: Here's how the games are different: Dragon Age is
a first person narrative, where you're taking on an origin and a role,
and you are that character at a fundamental level. It's fundamentally
about defining your character, including those kinds of concepts. In
Mass Effect it's more a third person narrative, where you have a
pre-defined character who is who he is, or she is. But it's not a
wide-open choice matrix. It's more choice on a tactical level with a
pre-defined character. So they're different types of narratives, and
that's intentional.
We're not saying that one approach is better than the other. In our
previous games, as we did in Jade Empire, as we did in KOTOR, as we did
in Baldur's Gate,
and many games before and in the future, we enable those kinds of
choices, whereas in Mass Effect it's more about Shepard as a defined
character with certain approaches and worldviews, and that's just who
he or she is. So we constrain the choice set somewhat, but enable more
tactical choices and enable a deeper, richer personality, because it's
more focused around defining one character, it's not as wide open. But
that's by choice.
It's first person versus third person narrative, and the types of
choices you get to make within that are related to that, whether you've
got a pre-defined character or a wide-open character. Some of our games
have been wide open, and some have been more constrained, and we'll
probably continue both kinds of character development in the future.

"In Mass Effect, as a female Commander Shepard you could have a romance with the female-looking yet asexual asari, Liara. That love story will continue into Mass Effect 2 (and Mass Effect 3) if you had started it in the first game, though things will be a bit rocky between you this time around because you’ve been away for two years. You’ll be able to conclude that story with Liara in Mass Effect 3, though keep in mind that your romances in Mass Effect 3 will have an impact on how that plays out."
Notice how careful Casey was to say "Female-LOOKING yet asexual"

Yeah, need to get to bed with Garrus.. Yust that I feel so gay doing it, being male playing femshep and all...
I don't get why people say this. I'm one of the few gay Garrus fans and I don't think it's "gay" to play a female romancing garrus..
If the fruity loops like myself don't mind throwing down as a lady, then I don't think you should either

And man, does it rub me the wrong way that they keep insisting the asari are not actually female. True in the technical sense, (not exactly asexual depending on which definition you go by, but we'll let that one slide) but they look female, they presumably can carry and give birth to children, and everyone in the game refers to asari as "she" and "her." <_< I'm pretty sure they're just covering their asses because if they admit that they included a F/F option, then they have own up to the fact that they're essentially giving the finger to M/M romances.

Hey we both want Mshep/Garrus, even if it is very unlikely. My Manshep has been in two loveless depressing games now
And I'm sure he refers to the groundwork under the assumption you're a girl and you're with Liara. I can't see it meaning anything else, unless he means "hopeless virginity" by saying "groundwork"
I wouldn't be wishing so hard for this if not for Garrus lines being so very open-minded and bisexual sounding... Sounds like he loves the human shepard is rather than the gender shepard is.
