IGN: Will there be gay relationships for the male Shepard? Here at
IGN we've heard a lot of positive feedback from the inclusion of gay
relationships in Dragon Age; compare that with the somewhat conspicuous
absence of them from the first Mass Effect, especially with the chance
for a lesbian relationship.
Ray Muzyka: Here's how the games are different: Dragon Age is
a first person narrative, where you're taking on an origin and a role,
and you are that character at a fundamental level. It's fundamentally
about defining your character, including those kinds of concepts. In
Mass Effect it's more a third person narrative, where you have a
pre-defined character who is who he is, or she is. But it's not a
wide-open choice matrix. It's more choice on a tactical level with a
pre-defined character. So they're different types of narratives, and
that's intentional.
We're not saying that one approach is better than the other. In our
previous games, as we did in Jade Empire, as we did in KOTOR, as we did
in Baldur's Gate,
and many games before and in the future, we enable those kinds of
choices, whereas in Mass Effect it's more about Shepard as a defined
character with certain approaches and worldviews, and that's just who
he or she is. So we constrain the choice set somewhat, but enable more
tactical choices and enable a deeper, richer personality, because it's
more focused around defining one character, it's not as wide open. But
that's by choice.
It's first person versus third person narrative, and the types of
choices you get to make within that are related to that, whether you've
got a pre-defined character or a wide-open character. Some of our games
have been wide open, and some have been more constrained, and we'll
probably continue both kinds of character development in the future.
Well, that's a lof of text to state that Sheppard is not gay and is out of your reach changing his sexuality... works for me.

Agreed. That one is awesome!
Also, I've finished updating the threads! Offloaded some of the bloat to their own threads and left links on the OP, and there's new fanart and fanfiction. Enjoy.

Well "shepard is not gay" is not entirely correct either. If the female shepard can romance Liara and Kelly, then shep is into homosexuality.
You cant say "man shep isnt gay" when man shep should be identical in preferences to female shep - they are one in the same only with different gender. So no, it doesn't work for me. Doesn't make sense and is totally biased. Same plot options, same dialog (for the most part)... You cant just make one swing while not the other. It doesn't matter if you hate m/m, the point is that it's still not equal or fair reguardless.

@ Gerse1 & Splinter Cell 108: I checked the Mass Effect Wiki for codex entries, but it doesn't say anything about how turians are born. o_o; Salarians are born from eggs though... and they're about 90% male.
Mass Effect Wiki wrote...
The salarians are amphibian haplo-diploid egg-layers; unfertilized eggs produce males and fertilized eggs produce females. Once a year, a salarian female will lay a clutch of dozens of eggs. Social rules prevent all but a fraction from being fertilized. As a result, 90% of the species is male.
I wonder how many turian females there are in comparison to males. xD
@ Aris Ravenstar: Garrus dying is so sad. D: At least he won't die on my playthrough though. It's nice to know that he can't be killed off as second team leader since I did his loyalty mission.
@ tmp7704: Garrus putting his hand on Shepard's shoulder sounds adorable.

I don't judge any kind of love for Mordin.
My biggest disappointment in the entire game was the inability to ever hug Mordin. It's my new mission in life. (That and getting an "I Love You" from Garrus.) Wanted so bad to hug him after I saved him from falling of the platform, but alas, he got away from me and I was left to make my serious face, point at the screen and say "My Name is Eleanor Shepard, and I will have my MordinHug. In this life or the next."

Hellz yes. If she were an LI in ME3, I'd totally create a save to hit that.
I think I'm just in love with turians as a race.

Maybe he has an equally badass sister we can bring along? Ha, Papa Vakarian's head would truly explode to have both of his kids running with a Spectre.
It would be so awesome if all the female Turians had Janis Joplin or Macy Grey style voices.

I don't get why people say this. I'm one of the few gay Garrus fans and I don't think it's "gay" to play a female romancing garrus..How can a person feel that way when they're playing a woman getting into a straight relationship? (and the best one ever!)
If the fruity loops like myself don't mind throwing down as a lady, then I don't think you should eitherIt's not any less/more weird for us than it is for you.
I agree, he has the best romance and I don't see any reason why anyone should feel gay about it. It's an male alien with a female human. As for a gay romance, I wouldn't mind but I wouldn't romance Garrus with a male. Besides he doesn't seem like the kind of person that would be that way IMO.
