My  reaction here is very much half ROFLOMGWHUT and half "Why. Why you do this?"

You know, that's pretty much what I think when I do stuff like this. Ha.

IGN Interview:

http://xbox360.ign.c.../1066954p1.html

IGN: Will there be gay relationships for the male Shepard? Here at
IGN we've heard a lot of positive feedback from the inclusion of gay
relationships in Dragon Age; compare that with the somewhat conspicuous
absence of them from the first Mass Effect, especially with the chance
for a lesbian relationship.

Ray Muzyka:
Here's how the games are different: Dragon Age is
a first person narrative, where you're taking on an origin and a role,
and you are that character at a fundamental level. It's fundamentally
about defining your character, including those kinds of concepts. In
Mass Effect it's more a third person narrative, where you have a
pre-defined character who is who he is, or she is. But it's not a
wide-open choice matrix. It's more choice on a tactical level with a
pre-defined character. So they're different types of narratives, and
that's intentional.

We're not saying that one approach is better than the other. In our
previous games, as we did in Jade Empire, as we did in KOTOR, as we did
in Baldur's Gate,
and many games before and in the future, we enable those kinds of
choices, whereas in Mass Effect it's more about Shepard as a defined
character with certain approaches and worldviews, and that's just who
he or she is. So we constrain the choice set somewhat, but enable more
tactical choices and enable a deeper, richer personality, because it's
more focused around defining one character, it's not as wide open. But
that's by choice.

It's first person versus third person narrative, and the types of
choices you get to make within that are related to that, whether you've
got a pre-defined character or a wide-open character. Some of our games
have been wide open, and some have been more constrained, and we'll
probably continue both kinds of character development in the future.

Well, that's a lof of text to state that Sheppard is not gay and is out of your reach changing his sexuality... works for me.

Well "shepard is not gay" is not entirely correct either. If the female shepard can romance Liara and Kelly, then shep is into homosexuality.
You cant say "man shep isnt gay" when man shep should be identical in preferences to female shep - they are one in the same only with different gender. So no, it doesn't work for me. Doesn't make sense and is totally biased. Same plot options, same dialog (for the most part)... You cant just make one swing while not the other. It doesn't matter if you hate m/m, the point is that it's still not equal or fair reguardless.

well, that's a lot of assumptions for stating your disagreement with me, i was just trying to resume the reasoning that i see behind the wall of text.

LOL, I remember the Sky Rockets in Flight commercial. Saw it on Chasers' War on Everything - those Aussies (or are they New Zealand-based?) are hilarious.

@ tmp7704: Garrus putting his hand on Shepard's shoulder sounds adorable. :D That'll make her feel better about handing over the Collector base to the Illusive Man. (I know my Shepard would have some doubts about that, even if she thinks it's for the best.)

Alas, i have replayed that part to grab a fraps of it and turns out it's not really anything as romantic... he's just passing Shepard an explosive charge there. Image IPB

... i still prefer my interpretation, though Image IPB

Passing an explosive charge, reassuring pat on the shoulder, what's the difference?

There's nothing wrong with a little obsession if it makes you happier at the end of the day. :wizard:

I kind of dislike the position on Liara in general; codex calls asari female, they look exactly female, everyone refers to them as female, don't try to get in good with Fox News and tell us that they're not female. It wasn't cool when Star Trek* did that, it's not cool now.

*For the non-Trekkies, here's how it goes: Trek has a history of being really progressive (the original series, while often clumsy and heavy-handed, portrayed one of the first interracial kisses, had a black woman in a position of power, and put a Russian in a positive role in the middle of the Cold War). As the 90s rolled around, people started questioning why Trek, for all its forward-thinking, never had a gay character; the creator himself expressed interest in adding one to the cast, but he died and the people who took over had...different ideas. The ship encounters a planet with an androgynous race, where identifying as a gender is seen as a mental illness (like a human identifying itself as a plant). The first officer falls in love with a person from this planet, who wants to become female for him, and the whole thing ends with 'our love can never be'. The problem here? The love interest, and every person of that race, is played by a female actor and they're written like the worst militant lesbian stereotype you've ever seen. Trek writers pat themselves on the back for having 'gracefully' addressed the gay issue and decide to never speak of it again. Gay Trekkies rage with the power of a million exploding suns.

Hmm..I would say I even want a female turian as recruitable for ME3 but I don't want ANY potential distractions for Garrus >.>

However, I imagine they would also have very cool voices, mid-to-low with that slight rasp, could be just as sexy as the male turians.

Maybe he has an equally badass sister we can bring along? Ha, Papa Vakarian's head would truly explode to have both of his kids running with a Spectre.

It would be so awesome if all the female Turians had Janis Joplin or Macy Grey style voices.

ooo, Janis Joplin, good call.  Maybe she could woo mShep with a sweet serenade with a soulful voice "aged on 'Palaven' Comfort"....or is that reference too obscure I dunno hehe

I noticed a distinct lack of garrus facts and fluffy fanarts.

Re: male player, female Shepard.

I know that people might feel a little bit gay if they play a female Shepard and romance Garrus. But I soon learned that if you have favourite charactor you always take extra care around them and make sure that they are better prepared and to make the best for them. So having a male player make a female to romance Garrus isn't gay. It's something that helps to show support if anything. the oppertunity is there and as a fan you take the chance as it is a way to help out your fave charactor. I know this bothers a lot of people but it's a woman and a man. And what you do in a game doesn't reflect you as a person in real life. I hope these words help those that feel a little off about it. Don't look at it as weird. Look at it as a way to thank garrs for being so damn cool.

Does the Garrus' Lines section have the "I didn't shoot him" line from the Harkin scene? I love how he says it, with a smirk, almost like a little boy making excuses to the teacher when he knows he's broken the rules...I just love how he waits for Shepard to turn around and sneaks in that head-butt.
