The scene where FemShep and Garrus touch heads together before fading to black was so heartwarming that I teared up and got a lump in my throat. Even as I typed that I got a fuzzy feeling and smiled as I sit here about to get off from work.

So what was everyone's take on the whole "I want to be your friend" dialog option being in the paragon slot? When I first encountered it I was a little disturbed - I had saved beforehand and I wasn't sure exactly what choosing that option entailed, until I picked it, and then I was like "What? Wait, what just happened?". Makes it feel like I'm somehow taking advantage of him or something when they put the option to continue the romance in neutral position rather than paragon.
I'm probably reading too much into it, but it did catch me off guard at first. Having not pursued any of the other romantic options I don't know if they're all that way or not so I was just curious. It makes sense that if someone wanted to just befriend the character that the option would be paragon I suppose.
EDIT* To answer the earlier question, I talked Garrus out of killing Sidonis for the reasons stated above basically. I can see where Garrus was coming from and I'd be pretty ticked off too, but the whole set up just to assassinate the guy...eh, I'd get more satisfaction out of confronting the person face to face rather than a dirty job like that. It's not the right way to go about it and I Garrus' obsession with killing him needed to be nipped in the bud.
I think he got his revenge in the end anyway - nothing like having Garrus with a sniper rifle trained on you to haunt your every day.
I don't think you can consider the upper right corner to be the straight-up paragon option; at least, not anymore. I've found the middle and sometimes bottom options gave paragon points. So...I wouldn't place much stock on that option's placement on the wheel. I felt BW shook things up a bit in regard to placement so that people would be forced to actually think about what they wanted to say or do instead of just thinking "I'm a paragon so spam spam spam the upper right corner."

After the loyalty mission when he was talking about sparring matches I had my FemShep say she'd want to spar with him, but then didn't pick the "Thats not what I meant" option for fear it might be of the 'spurning' him manner of speaking but now that I think of it am guessing that was the "I want to get close to you" kind of meaning. Instead I re-confirmed that I wanted a match. Worse thing is it a fair bit back in my playthrough now and don't fancy going through it all again just to alter that.
So I am hoping there is another chance.

I didn't give two squirts about Sidonis, but after watching Garrus beat Harkin to a pulp, (And...was I the only person in the world who was a little turned on by that? No? ....ok.) that was the first time I'd really seen how far down the road Garrus was, and I couldn't let him go further. The conversation in the cab was perfect because all of the dialogue was exactly what I was feeling at the time, especially the delivery of "I'm getting a little worried about you, Garrus". I couldn't let him go through with it, not for Sidonis's sake, but for Garrus's.

I'm curious as to how everyone here handled Garrus's loyalty mission. At first, I had him kill Sidonis because I was upset and angry and wanted Garrus to find a measure of peace. But then, after hearing him discuss it, after hearing his reaction, he reminded me too much of Saren - to the point where a chill ran along my spine. I went back and saved Sidonis. And at that point, when Garrus spoke to me, I knew I had my old friend back.
I stopped him from killing Sidonis. As you said, letting him go through with it continues his change into a more Saren-like person. I quite liked how throughout the mission paragon-shep can act as a kind of moral anchor for Garrus, and can help make him more like his old self. I paragon'd him in ME1 and was a bit disappointed at the changes he went through, until I got to his loyalty mission. It made me realize that Shepard's loss caused him to revert to being a bitter renegade, who went to Omega in part to vent his frustrations at a universe full of injustice. I felt that the paragon choice allowed Shepard to start "healing" him after going through two years of hell. It wasn't so much about saving Sidonis as it was about saving Garrus from becoming the same kind of individual Saren was.
Yep. For me, this was Crowning Moment of Awesome. Go, Paragon Shep, go!

That would be really amazing if there could be a wedding/official joining in the future for FemShep and Garrus in the future (but then again that might be wishful thinking). His romance is so much more beautiful and can last the longest because it involves those who really care and respect eachother. At the end of the day physical aspects don't matter and all that really counts is being with a best friend you can trust with your heart and soul. Bottom Line: Garrus is someone you can grow old with.

So... what DOES he say if you do break up with him? I don't have the heart to find out (and I know there's one on the Tube of You that has Jacob suggesting (?) Shep break it off with Garrus so they can be together, but that makes me all mopey. LMAO). D;
I don't remember the exact words, but Garrus says something to the effect of he understands and he's still behind you 100% in the upcoming battle.

The Breakup
Shepard: Garrus, I respect you too much to do this cheaply. I don't want to risk damaging our friendship.
Garrus: I suppose you're right. Risky enough without bringing another species into it.
*Awkward shuffle*
Garrus: Regardless, I'm still honored to be here, Shepard. Let me know if you need anything.

Man, I thought the Garrus romance was swell in ME2, but you guys gotta stop this. You're completely off the rocker. Now, every time I say I romanced Garrus, people will like nod knowingly and just sorta roll their eyes at me. "Oh, you're one of THEM..."
Damn you! >
Haha, I've felt a similar reaction before. I usually try to admire the characters on my own first, and then being labled as "one of them" becomes like a badge of honor.

Heheh, thanks, but I don't know about being a scholar...I'm just...rabid. X3
Besides, we're all (well...most people here) Garrus fans here and there's no shame in liking/loving that badass Turian vigilante.
So wear that "one of them" badge with honor, because we're fans of one of the most badass characters in BW's lineup. ^^

Though I'm a bit biased because I adore the Mulder-Scully type of relationship. They had this more than friends, but less than lovers thing going on. Like neither term could accurately define the transcendental affection they share for each other. When romancing Garrus, it felt as if Shep was his kindred spirit as someone mentioned earlier. Definitely a special moment.

Maybe there will be another chance in ME3 for them to get together

I find it incredibly ironic that everyone started wanting to kill her and throw her out an airlock when it turns out, if you wait to save your crew she can have a really nasty death. I wonder, would anyone deliberately do that to her now? Or have you all gotten over your jealousy?
