all of a sudden, i cant change button assignment. not from tactical or skill menu. restarted several times. im stuck now
(glitch) cant assign skills to buttons anymore

has anyone else ran into this? im so pissed! three of my 4 buttons all have the same assigned skill and i cant change any if them all of a sudden!

After getting my first Focus ability, it was assigned to 1 and the power I had there previously just got removed. When I tried to place it in another slot, it just did not work. It was not until a while after getting to Skyhold that I could assign powers to the number buttons.
I've experienced this on PC with two characters so far.

I'm having the same problem on the PC version of the game. It occurred after receiving my first focus ability. The focus ability was assigned to the "1" key and I tried reassigning the skill that I wanted in that stop, hoping I could then move the focus ability to the next open number key.
I was able to reassign my normal skills by respeccing my character with an amulet (the tactician's renewal) but still cannot assign an inquisitor skill to a hotkey.
Oh well, I guess I can get by with out it. I'll write to support to see if they have a solution.

Pull the focus skill over the slot you want from the skills menu? So don't move it on the bar, just drop an ability on it.

Hmm... I was able to switch my Focus on the bar with no difficulty... click, hold and drag to the slot you wanted.
Mind, I had one empty slot available when I entered Skyhold. Yes, I kept one free....until then

Oddly, this appeared to fix itself after another 30 minutes of play. I went to a new area (the storm coast in my case) ran around for a bit, got Iron Bull, did another quest, and was suddenly able to apply the skill when I tried. I was able to put it in an empty slot, then move it to the position I wanted it. Of course this happened while I was in the queue for tech support. I suppose just play on and hope that it corrects itself, is the answer.
