Ok so this isn't a matter of whose advice you use the most, but rather which of these three you really like and prefer to have around. To my surprise, Cullen wins in a landslide. His commentary and character in general was something I did not expect.

"Eh" pretty much sums up my overall opinion of all three advisers.

Same, surprisingly. I've always found Cullen irritating and my second canon Warden actually romanced a hardened Lelianna, so I was some what sure Leli would likely still be my favourite, but nope. Cullen over took.

I agree with you op, Cullen was my favorite since he seems very down to earth. (I loved that his response in text to one of the operations was "No this is ridiculous." Because that is what I thought about that operation when I read it too.

I really like all 3. I actually hated Leliana in Origins, but she really pulled through in Inquisition.

Favorite, though? Probably Josephine. Despite her exuberant outfit, she was a funny character and loved her personal quest, not to mention her sister is a laugh.

Cullen for me as well. Josei is too Disney princess for my tastes & Leliana went kinda "I'll Kill anyone who disagrees with me!" insane at the end of my play through. Thank the Maker she didn't become the new divine

Josephine.  Easily.  By miles.  Leliana I wanted to smack for her incredible stupidity in DA2, and Cullen I wanted to execute for war crimes (and still do - that he stopped being a complete bigot does not wash his hands of the blood of Kirkwall).  They've both had personality transplants between games, thankfully, but they still have a past working against them that Josephine does not.  Also, classy girls are the best.

I really liked all three and it's amusing how they embody their respective areas. I'm leaning towards Josephine only because she's new but I liked getting to know Cullen as well including the bits about his family.

I think Cullen. Despite what he's dealing with I never really see a hint of it. I feel him to be very stable in spite of it.

Leliana from the start is dark and especially in the mage quest line I get really annoyed with her nastiness toward Dorian as I feel nothing but good vibes from him. I don't think he's treating it as a joke. That's just his nature. He's treating it as 'this is bad'. But she's kind of blaming him it feels like because he's tevinter.

Jose feels sort of like the she's barely figuring it out. You get a scene with her that feels a bit like maybe she's not even cut out for it. No such thing from the other two. Of the three, I feel like it's cullen I trust to have a my side and the fact that I have no clue, there's no evidence of what he's dealing with really shows all the more what an excellent job he's doing. Very professional, very balanced. The other two have moments to me that are far less so. His moment is very different IMO. Here he is struggling with this nasty addiction, giving his best and willing to give up on his hope to be free of lyrium so he can do an even better job while Leliana is cool with killing someone and Jose is overwhelmed and burned out from dealing with it and also wrapped up in saving her family's nobility. Cullen wins easily.

Yup, Cullen for me too. Actually I started to dig his character back in DA2 because ... I dunno, but in limited interactions, somehow it felt like he had some sort of respect for Hawke, and it was also interesting to see how he was trying to reconcile past experiences with what he was seeing in Kirkwall. Also, the lyrium withdrawl angle also hit a chord with me because just recently I faced the same issue of trying to help a friend who was struggling with drug addiction.

Josephine is nice enough but is just so mild-mannered that it puts me to sleep. Leliana, I love the woman, but she is just crazy.

When it comes to operations, though, I find myself favoring Leliana's approach the most, and Cullen's typically the least, though my favorite operation is having Cullen send our soldiers to help out some refugees in Fereldan against the local noble's wishes.

Josephine being unable to look away from Iron Bull's iron bull sorta makes her NOT a Disney princess... That whole scene was hilarious.  Cullan's reaction was the best though.

You mean she couldn't look away from Iron Bull's horn?  She couldn't stop thinking about satisfying the demands of the qun?

In all honesty did anyone really see anything at all? Given the way he was positioned, it seemed all you would see is that he was naked, but nothing explicit.

All saw Bull's dragonbone except the player.  Because ERSB.  Something-something-innuendo.

What are these war crimes you speak of?

Cullen had consistently strong scenes. I can't quite put my finger on it but he seemed to have more depth than the other two. Josie's thing with the family and the trade in Orlais and the polite guys seemed a little too surreal, and I found it hard to feel strongly sympathetic for Leliana(the scene seemed kind of weird too, almost feels like she hasn't changed at all since Origins despite the years in between).

Not hard to figure out.  Genocide's kind of a serious crime and "b-b-b-but, I had orders!" has never, nor will it ever be a valid excuse.

I liked a lot of Leliana's and Josie's advices and views about the quests... I felt more in tune with them, I liked Cullen's too but I tended to use his advice when I wanted a direct approach (openly defend/support and attack/intimidate).

I loved the fact that there were a lot o missions/tasks I could use all of the 3 advisers easily, none were ridiculous, they sounded really in tune with their roles! I loved it really.

If we are to use real world definitions, mages neither qualify as prisoners of war or civilian internees. Namely because they're always armed combatants, unless they're made Tranquil.

I actually did not use Cullen's advice as much as the others, since his approach tended to be more blunt than I cared for in a lot of situations.

" Civilian internees are civilians who are detained by a party to a war for security reasons."  Yeah, that totally doesn't sound anything like the Circle!

P.S. "Civilian" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Defining civilian by lack of membership in a militant organization doesn't qualify either as Circles are organized institutions that teach mages, among other things, combat skills.

Also Circles are(or were) used in military conflicts, though doing so between southern Thedosian nations violates Chantry doctrine. Using them as an armed force against the Qunari was historically common.

*EDIT

It may also be more accurate to characterize the Circles as ghettos than prisons, because mages can travel outside of them and the "detainment" within them is very lax for an armed group of individuals.
