So, I finally finished my first playthrough of the game: female human mage, Cullen romance, sided with but conscripted mages, Morrigan drank from the well, Vivi the next Divine, and so on.  It took me about 80 hr. and I didn't even do some areas.  And I have to say I loved the journey!  The revelations in the end, too.  Holy crap, my mind was blown numerous times by epic moments!  Even though it's years off, I'm highly anticipating the next game.   :D

Anyway, as the title of this topic says...I'm wondering if Bioware cut some content or not.  What happened to capturing keeps with a time limit and customizing their appearances?  I thought they said you'd be able to choose between their focuses of spying, military, and/or trade.  And I remember the video shown where the group is trying to reach a keep in time, and you sacrifice a village (or not) to the red templars.  Hmmm, does that occur when you side with Templars?

[above questions have been answered]

Also, another major thing absent was the doppelganger.  Where is the Inquisitor doppelganger that was shown in the Enemy of Thedas trailer?  Perhaps that merely wasn't in my playthrough, but I find it odd that there really was no mention of it.  Maybe things are way different when the Inquisitor drinks from the Well of Sorrows?

Or rather, what was that watery clone thing that emerged from the Well when the group flees into the Eluvian?  My Inquisitor was glowing blue, and that thing definitely had her appearance.  It rushed into the mirror before Cory could.  Was it just some sort of guardian?  But, I find that odd, especially if the Inquisitor doesn't drink from the Well.  Why not duplicate Morrigan?

I suppose it could be addressed in future DLC.  This freed clone begins to cause chaos or confusion after the defeat of Cory.  Or, I'm just over-thinking things, but that's boring.  :P

I apologize if this topic is already up.  It's my first time making one.

Content was cut.  We also don't get the part where you are going through the caves with a torch and have to fight the big red crystal dude. (or at least I have never found it and I have played for almost 200 hrs. through 2 full playthroughs.) You do fight them in other parts of the game but not that particular fight.

I agree that it felt like stuff had been cut. Maybe we will get it as DLC.

You'll meet the Inquisitor doppelganger if you side with the templars instead of the mages.

A large amount of things were cut content wise though I do not know specifically about doppelganger issue, many of them also cut despite being part of the promotional trailers.

Yep, stuff was cut. This is completely normal, even late in development. But always disappointing to see things you were looking forward to get the axe. Personally, I'd have like to shape the Inquisition more, by deciding on what to do with captured keeps etc, but if it didn't add to the experience, I'm cool with it getting chopped.

Hm, that's a little disappointing.  I guess I understand if they weren't able to implement everything properly before release, but I wonder if we'll ever get said cut content in future patches or DLC.  Probably not, though.

In any case, it doesn't diminish my playthrough all that much.  It was still a crazy ride.

Anyway, my question about the Well of Sorrows event still stands, though.  Discussion!

Customizing keeps was cut, there are only 3 so they've basically been split between 3 advisors. Crestwood is Spies, Western Approach is Military and Emprise Du Lion is Commerce. The protect Crestwood or Keep mission was also cut but looking at Crestwood, it was in pretty bad shape from the start -_-

As for the doppelganger, thats from the Templar storyline if you side with them but even if you choose mages there may be an option to still encounter it(currently in process of doing this now).

Talk to Krem about what to do with Chargers after siding with the mages and he will mention investigating why the Templars at Therinfall have gone quiet.

As for that "thing" from the Well of Sorrows...no clue

Well, cool.  I'll be doing a Templar run in my next playthrough.

EA is involved so you know darn good and well content was cut! Not as bad as what Bungie did with Destiny, but if there is DLC where the download is only like 135kb then it's just an unlock code, the content was already there.

The keep modification wasn't cut so much as it was rolled over into upgrading Skyhold and inquisition Perks.  They do pretty much the exact same thing.  As for the capturing of keeps and such, they got into game developement and obviously decided this was the better way to go, stuff in Apha builds is discarded all the time.

There's always cut content.  In every game.  Talk to any developer, they'll always tell you there wasn't enough time for every idea they wanted to put in.

Probably had to make room for more fetch quests, what do you think this is? A story driven RPG?! Sit down and enjoy your sub par Skyrim experience!!

Well, I actually enjoyed the sidequests quite a bit.  Yeah, there were fetch quests, but some of them had interesting lore and such.   :)  And I'll be honest...I'll take DA:I over Skyrim any day.

Collecting goat skin for a nameless hunter was definitely the enthralling Bioware experience I was looking for. I even got a codex explaining the importance of the goats I was slaughtering which made for a lore rich experience as I spread my Inquisitions power by doing menial chores.

Pretty sure RPGs are a giant fetch quests in general, start at point a - get quest, do stuff to get to point B -> reward. Skinning goats is optional and will not prevent you from advancing in the game, Vanilla Skyrim was awful.

This right here, there's not a single game that doesn't have any cut content. :P

Presentation is important. Why cant the Hunter have a name? A family? A sense of character? Why cant we have a more compelling reason to collect the Goat skin then "My ass is cold".

This used to be the case in Older Bioware games, menial sidequests were presented a cinematic experiences that involved character development and often choices. This was lost in Inquisition.

And before you say it, yes I know these games had dumb sidequests like in Inquisition, the chanter board in Origins comes to mind. The difference is that in Origins these quests were few and far between where in Inquisition they are a staple for every zone.

It merely sounds like you didn't like the game, not just the fetch quest aspect.  Anyway, Skyrim is littered with fetch quests as well.  How is it only pointless and annoying in DA:I?  Besides, as eternalshiva said, you can skip those quests and focus on the main story content.

I enjoyed any scrap of info I could get throughout the game.  The world of Thedas is something I really like, not just the characters and the main conflict.  It's rich with lore.

You weren't collecting goat skin you were collecting goat meat.  Did you read the journal he wrote in his cabin? It gives a very clear reason about why he no longer wants to go out and hunt goats for people to eat after he saw what the templars and mages were doing to each other and anyone else they came across.

Why must I go searching for story in a Bioware game? Why is every story in this game told through conveniently placed notes or journals?
