Why must I go searching for story in a Bioware game? Why is every story in this game told through conveniently placed notes or journals?

Because sometimes they give the audience the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not complaining, I'm giving feedback that you don't like.

How dare I critique your shiny bauble!

When you're going on about how "I need to keep warm" isn't a good enough reason to get some hides in a notoriously freezing country, "complaining" is a very kind word for what you're doing.

Some of the stuff like choosing to save a village or soldiers wasnt shown to the public or talked about. Someone at pax 2013 secretly recorded their showing off of pre-alpha.

A game has to have cuts or it would be a nightmare to develop

@Eterna:  You've never owned/run an organization have you?

It's not all big corporate buyouts...

If I place enough flowers at graves for lazy people who are scared of evul mages my influence will spread until I am the greatest dictator Thedas has ever known!

I'm personally somewhat disappointed that the Crestwood stuff that was shown at PAX '13 is nowhere to be seen in the final game. The current version of Crestwood seems a lot less interesting to me.

I am sad that they replaced the awesome Chantry Board and Mage Board with quests with very little dialogue.

Is it really such a crime to want the people in the world of Thedas to have any iota of individuality and self like they did in the previous games?

You've just latched onto the fluff to ignore the main point I'm trying to make.

Come to think of it I guess that's why you enjoy this game so much.

Presentation is important. Why cant the Hunter have a name? A family? A sense of character? Why cant we have a more compelling reason to collect the Goat skin then "My ass is cold".

This used to be the case in Older Bioware games, menial sidequests were presented a cinematic experiences that involved character development and often choices. This was lost in Inquisition.

And before you say it, yes I know these games had dumb sidequests like in Inquisition, the chanter board in Origins comes to mind. The difference is that in Origins these quests were few and far between where in Inquisition they are a staple for every zone.

Damn, my age is showing. When you said "old BioWare games, I started thinking about Baldur's Gate. Turns out you just meant Origins, which, comparatively, is a new game...

*sigh*

I was looking for discussion and theories on the Well of Sorrows scene.  Not comparisons between games and debating about fetch quests... >_>  Ah well, maybe there's not enough to go on.  I'm really hoping for story DLC!

I don't remember that from the Well, but I was arguing with my cat at the time about time on the computer. She's kind of grumpy that way, and prone to jump in front of the monitor and stare at me like "What, I'm in your way, deal with it".

I think there were cuts because of implementation, time or budget. But i doubt that they did cut stuff to sell it as DLC.
Tough it was rude that they didn't tell that some mechanics were removed, it is not how you do business.
Bad for them, bad for us. But i hope that they will implement some of that stuff later. In the end i personally don't feel cheated like in some games.

@Eterna:  What you wrote is one of those obnoxious fallacies I hate using... you are completely capable of ignoring any such quest to place flowers on a grave (unlike a TON of past RPGs that require you to sidequest AND only have a limited number of them) You can ignore huge sections of the game if you want - or you can explore them.

But if you think running an organization doesn't involve menial tasks (which was my point) - you're very wrong.

I don't see how the two ideas relate.

About that Well of Sorrows guardian blue thingy. I don't know what it is, but it's not a copy of the Inquisitor. Have played that part with male elf and female qunari and guardian looked the same. My qunari met her double while siding with templars. I think that the Well guardian is an essence of Mythal or something. There are some parts of the game you won't see, depending on what you do.

Oooooh, okay.  So, it was just a coincidence that it looked like my female human. LOL

The same hairstyle got me!

I'm still confused why the Inquisitor was glowing blue, though.  Perhaps just a graphical glitch.

Content was cut.  We also don't get the part where you are going through the caves with a torch and have to fight the big red crystal dude. (or at least I have never found it and I have played for almost 200 hrs. through 2 full playthroughs.) You do fight them in other parts of the game but not that particular fight.

There is no Red Lyrium Behemoth, but Adamant keep has a similar thing and you can do it. Dunno about emprise du lion but at least both Crestwood and Adamant Keeps have a back entrance you can use to assault. In crestwood if you take the tunnels to infiltrate it instead of bashing on the doors, you will have a fight with the biggest Spider i've seen in Inquisition so far. In Adamant you can also go thru a back tunnel and infiltrate the keep by climbig a rope that leads to the well, pretty neat if you dont want to go full frontal assault.

Save Village / Keep : Instead of facing a Red Templar / Venatori threat, the village was threatened by undead rising from the lake due to the underwater Rift. So, Undead replaced them... I would have liked to have chosen between the two; I wish every area had an obvious plot to it, instead of tons of trivial quests. Choosing between the Keep and the Village would have been cool... but it was cut, for reasons I'm sure.

Customizing Keeps : Hmm, I wondered where they were going with this and asked "Why bother? How does this add to gameplay... Does it really matter?" and I guess they asked similar questions; Instead of customizing keeps, we got similar but more rewarding decisions with the war room. I dunno, I don't miss keep customization though, the only keep I visited more than once was Griffonwing and Skyhold, and we could customize Skyhold.

Doppelganger: AKA the Envy Demon, AKA the Lord Seeker, AKA Minion of the Elder One. An envy demon trapped the Inquisitor in the fade, and there he attempted to "Learn" him or her. It didn't succeed, thanks to Cole and also because the demon likes talking about its plans. You have to "Side with the Templars" to experience this.

Blue Lady: I... I don't know. My faith tells me to say "ANDRASTE!" but... The Temple of Mythal pre-dates Andraste, I think. And I was also pretty sure that glowing thing was Andraste... I don't know. All I know is that in the beginning, that thing is glowing but when we reclaim our memories its the Divine... Are those real memories? We saw two different things, at the "same time". Who knows. It was my theory that was Mythal (It would make sense) but that was immediately disproven after Flemeth's appearance. My money is on Andraste, hopefully.

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to think slowly and say "Hmmm, lets examine her." So I didn't see her ears, so I'm not sure if she was elven or not. She certainly wasn't a clone though... My inquisitor also drank from the water (although I would have preferred a "Leave it alone." option) and he certainly wasn't a woman. Could it have been Morrigan? She took the whole "You ruined my plans!" thing rather well, she didn't run away like she did for the Warden. I would not be surprised if she was responsible for this woman's appearance.

Doesn't feel all that new with everything that's happened in the industry since, particularly how EA and other major publishers changed with their DLC practices and ruining franchises to increase mainstream appeal and all that crap.

inquisitor glowed blue because they didnt make a separate cutscene where morrigan is supposed to glow blue. The cutscene assumes you drank from the well. If you didn't then you get the same one anyways.

I had that problem too, and i have another one. After completing the mission, I talk to solas and he asks me  how i will use the power of the well, even though I dont have it. Apparently Solas assumes I drank from the well as well at that point.

Why must we listen to this ceaseless whining on the forums?  That's just life.

Because people are fighting for what they feel important and lacked in the game.

You can respect that or be a jerk like you're doing now.

Earlier I had the same conversation on another forum and we both agreed to have different taste without insulting each other, can't you do that as an adult ?

The guy isn't even asking to remove those quests but to not forget the other more cinematic side quests that existed before in the prevous games.

That must be bug. My Lavellan didn't drink and Solas didn't assume that I did.

Aw, lazy Bioware.   :o

Lol, it seems like a lot of my confusion was caused by errors and stuff not implemented.  And same hairstyles.

Anyway, yeah, I think Solas asked me that as well, but I was assuming he was referring to Morrigan anyhow.  I was on good terms with her, so I figured she'd help me out and Solas knew that.

The blue spirit at the Well of Sorrows could have been the "will" of Mythal being unleashed as they were describing.  Or, it could have been something Morrigan conjured up to block the path of the eluvian from Cory.  Or, it really was something from the Inquisitor, involving the Andraste or the Maker.  That seems kinda out of place for being in an ancient elven temple where the magic is still alive.

The Creastwood/Keep thing might have been cut because they took out keep customisation. If they'd kept the village or stronghold choice in then you could be out of luck for a espionage base and get none of those quests.

I guess Blue Lady has to be a guardian of the well or as it's keyed to the eluvian an in case of emergency failsafe. It does rise up to smash the mirror so that Cory can't reach it.
