So I've come to a point where I can't decide on a class that is fun and powerful. So far I think it's between Mage and Rogue. The mage has lots of spell but the rogue has all that crit and assassination stuff. So Mage, Rogue, or even warrior and why(story/companion/gameplay wise)
Most Fun/Powerful class

Are you talking about DA:Inquisition, because if you are you're in the wrong forum - check the Dragon Age: Inquisiton one.

Rogue Assassin/Shadow.
Dual Wielding.
The only class that can easily kill the Arishok on Nightmare without running around like crazy,

I would look at it another way: which hawke would make my party the most powerful:
You choose your balanced pure companion based party (for instance aveline as a tank, varric as an archer rogue, merril as a nuker mage and anders as a healer.)
Then you ask yourself this question: if i replace one of these by a hawke equivalent (hawke rogue archer to replace varric, hawke mage healer to replace anders etc) which one will add the most to the party's power?
Some companions are very good in their respective role and therefore it is harder to improve the party's power if you switch these powerful companion by a hawke equivalent. The powerful companions are mostly:
Aveline as a tank
Varric as a rogue archer
and to a lesser extent merril as a nuker.
(and I would almost say Fenris as a 2H: his specific specialisation picks the best talents among each of warrior hawk's specialisations)
On the other hand, the companions that can very advantageously be replaced by a hawke equivalent are:
isabella by rogue DW hawke
anders by mage healer hawke
Using that criteria, i think party wise the most powerful would have hawke as a mage, healer and bloodmage. Most of the force mage spells have regular spells as proxies therefore i think it's the weakest specialisation for mages.
But a rogue 2W is deadly as well, and it's harder to assess which of the three rogue specialisation is a weakest.
Tank hawke and archer hawke are comparatively much weaker because aveline and varric are so good, whereas healer mage and 2W rogue hawke respectively run circles around anders and isabella. Also 2H warrior hawke is, in my opinion, not sufficiently better than Fenris to make the cut.

The mage is really powerful if specced right. I took spirit healer and force mage but havent touched on either spell trees and use only pots. Its funny but my mage is the tank with Rock armor I have 80% physical resist + 9% dmg resist and 6% dodge. On top of that is 67% magic resist and various elemental resistances.
With Primal and Elemental trees maxed I never run out of mana and have only used a lyrium potion once

Ive only tried playing a couple of times. I failed at rogue but I think that is because I was failing at leveling up effectively. I found a two handed warrior to be pretty powerful.

Elemental Force/Blood mage.
Don't get me wrong, I love my rogues. But that build combines massive damage with AoE crowd control with the ability to throw enemies all around the map.

Pretty much. I normally love the rogue class, because I love all the dual-wield backstabbing, high-DPS goodness, but the one and only thing that keeps me from rolling with Elemental/Force mage more often is the sibling that comes with it, and to a lesser extent the inability to unlock things solo. I do love the Primal abilities though. Shooting lightning at fools is a lot of fun, but lightning is definitely better in Inquisition.

You could try the 2H Reaver/Vangard as well. Veery powerful and deadly, maybe even more than Rogue 2w, but it does need precise leveling. Combine with double haste with Bethany and Anders in the party, and boom.
You can look at this thread:

My favorite remains, like KaiserShep, the 2w rogue, for short, crit-based DPS-bursts. T'was even more powerful and fun before the nerf against bosses. Never runned as a mage or archer myself (don't really like long-range style of playing) so I don't know about it.

My 2H Berserker/Reaver was able to tear through nearly everything without much of a problem. However, my Elemental/Force Mage was able to fight Coryphius alone when my companions kept derping and dieing. (I switched to Force/Spirit after that and didn't regret it in the slightest.)

Played that boss for the first time last night. Even with the tactics/aggression turned off and microing the party the awful pathfinding meant they kept dying anyway.
It's one thing to make a boss a challenge through figuring out a strategy, etc., is fine, but making a boss powerful only because you built a really crappy fighting engine is just... oh Bioware.
Anyway, I just gave up on saving the companions, did him solo, killing the shades and staying out of stream range, then I'd use that Mithril Potion to rez Anders, and get him to rez the other two... rinse lather repeat.
Really crappily-designed boss.

I played mages and rogues. Since Varric and Sebastian are pretty powerful as archer rogues, I play dw most of the time, with assassin and duelist as specs. It's really fun to play.
When I play a mage, I use an offensive build, keeping Anders as a healer. Nuking the enemies is great too.
I find the rogue a bit more fun, but I guess that's because the class fits so well with the sarcastic dialogue options.
I never play warrior - you have already two pretty powerful warriors with Fenris and Aveline and I find warrior boring. I never finishied any game as a warrior

I played a Spirit Healer/Force Mage, with heavy investment in the Elemental and Arcane, dipping into Creation and Spirit.
Elemental is all the way.
Arcane for Barrier, Arcane Shield with both upgrades, Elemental Weapons, and Mind Blast.
Creation is really just Heal, upgraded, the Haste bug is still too annoying, otherwise I'd have that.
Spirit is just enough for Spirit Bolt, it's quick, easy, and cheap,
If there are any points left over, I grab Chain Lightning.
I use Elemental(fire) right at the beginning, before my companions close in so as to avoid friendly fire, and then Elemental(ice) for enemies that are isolated or when I can avoid friendly fire/surrounded. Mind Blast is handy for when I get surrounded, the enemies know that I'm the one keeping everyone alive, so it's nice to push them back and then push them some more with Fist of the Maker and Telekinetic Burst.
Spirit Healer keeps the team alive (Group Heal, the passive just from having it active), while still allowing for Force Mage abilites, plus Barrier and Heal.
On the off chance that my team falls, I can use Apocalyptic Firestorm to buy me some time to use Revival (both upgrades).
I use the Malcom's Honor staff, so that combined with Elemental weapons plus any runes means that no matter what we face, we bypass at least SOME of their defenses and with damage of all types there is always a way to deal damage.
I have Aveline (best tank) and Varric in my party almost all the time. Aveline is too tough to take a whole lot of damage from me, and Varric is almost never where I'm launching spells, so I don't have to worry about him. The third party member can vary, depending on the situation, but I generally have Anders.
The best term I can use to describe my Hawke's role in battle is Combat Medic.
I do everything I can to keep my team alive, and when I'm not doing that, I'm unleashing wrath on the bad guys.
It's not the most flashy, and it's not "ULTIMATE DPS DEVASTATION!", but I outlast every foe I come across.
As it says in Origins "Plan your attacks carefully, history won't remember your failed frontal assault."
Long story short (too late), I stay alive, my team stays alive, if we do die, we don't stay dead. But the bad guys do.
Win.

With mage!Hawke, I go for Elemental/Creation, Spirit Healer/Force Mage. I don't do much in the Force Mage tree, other than Fist of the Maker. Basically my mages replace Anders. They're no boss DPS dealers, but Apocalyptic Firestorm is good crowd control, FotM takes care of enemy armor, and my party doesn't stay dead while the bad guys do. Win-win.

I do both. I get all Force spells, but without upgrades. And go pretty deep with SH. Upgraded Elemental, but basic Primal and Creation tree. Not necessarily the most powerful though. I think Blood and Force is... but can't bring myself to do it. BM is shoddily done.
Merrill is kind of my boss killer.. full primal and entropy.
