I played 90% of the game with:

 

Me (2h warrior)

Cassandra

Sera

Dorian

 

Sometimes I switched Dorian for Solas. Never used Vivienne though, I can't stand to be anywhere near her.

For story purposes, my top team would be Cassandra, Solas, Varric and Cole. They're also the ones I like best. Sadly they don't mesh quite as smoothly as the holy trinity of Leliana/Wynne/Alistair did in Origins.

 

Anyone else miss having a party of six? It's aggravating to have only three active NPCs when there are so many banter combinations to try.

I wish i would have started as a mage insted of a warrior.

 

So my setup includes:

 

Me (Female elf 2h warrior)

Iron Bull (He is such a bad ass)

Cole (So weird that i love him and awesome dps)

Solas (Also weird, interesting character, nice barriers and cc)

 

Solas comforts Cole, seems like he helps Cole to stay sane.

Cole and Bull have random funny convos about combat or how Bull puts on a shirt.

I did Blackwall's personal quest last week though, and I generally got this whole "I thought I knew you, I know nothing about you" vibe. As we were friends, and he was useful, I felt pity for him, and let him continue to help the inq to redeem himself, but I've not felt compelled to use him since. 

 

I do wanna start shaking things up. Bianca has become very OP, but as the game progresses, Varric seems to be having a hard time with keeping up, so I'll probably replace him with Cole and see how a dagger rogue fairs. I also really wanna try Vivienne so that I can test out KE, but I've spec'd Dorian perfectly - I'll probably respec Viv this weekend for a trial run. So this weekend, my posse will consist of:

 

Mage inq

Vivienne

Cole

Cassandra

 

I imagine that'll be a very interesting mix, with a clash of huge personalities....

Still cycling through the options, but the default (Me, Cassandra, Solas and Varric) are pretty solid and well balanced.

I'm running a sort of holy retribution combo, with the added bonus that my front line warriors (me included) are a battle couple

-me (2H reaver)
-Cassandra (S&B Templar)
-Vivienne (Spirit KE)
-Varic (mostly for banter... and automatic crossbow)

I am a Rogue Dual-Wielder

My dream team is still to be determined, but this team is usually with me:

 

Dorian - Focused on Cold damage + Spirit damage + Support

Blackwall - I made him a Two-Handed beast + guard build-up

Varric - For his range, usually situated near Dorian

 

I like to have one tank, and me as a flanker/backstabber.

Dorian and Varric work together on a distance. I am playing on Hard, and this team is kicking butt.

Well I decided to put Sera and Dorian in my team since they were the best fun characters to have around and only later discovered how deadly they both could be, especially Sera (+ the romance bit!).  And Casandra, well she’s been a friend from the start right, I’d feel bad leaving her at the barracks missing all the fun

I occasionally switch out some characters for fun, and to hear some banter.  For example, Dorian's "peek-a-boo" response to Cole's description of magic/the fade made me laugh so much, I needed to pause.

My team for the last 50 hours or so:

 

Aethier (Quizzy) Two handed templar, charges into battle buffing allies and blowing his horn to make enemies flee. Destroys all with great axe.

 

Iron Bull: Respecced as sword and board, first into the breach, doesn't go down...ever.

 

Dorian: Back line dropping huge aoe and CC to keep the fight in our favor.

 

Varric: Wildcard. He's all over the place dropping traps, stealthing, picking off key targets from the shadows.

 

The banter has been awesome, I love Iron Bull and Dorians back and forth, even though Iron Bull wants to bang Dorian...

 

Varric is my right hand man, he is somber but fun and always has my back.

My Inquisitor replaces one of them based on what class he is.

My first play as a mage my team consisted of Cassandra, Dorian, Solas, occasionally swapping in Varric. My second play as a SnS tank warrior is Varric, Dorian, Solas. As a tank, I really dislike having other melee around me, although I do think that Cole is fun to watch darting here and there.

 

If it wasn't obvious, I generally preferred a ranged party. Aside from that, I'll take favored characters over others. I hardly ever bring along Sera or Vivianne. I do occasionally switch out people to vary the banter, but only rarely.

Last one is flexible, but typically either Shield Blackwall or Archer Cole.

With 2x tanks it's basically impossible to die, but 2x rogue just blitzes most opposition and feels more high risk / fun.
