Some people are thinking that because the Collector leader said "Releasing Control" at the end of the game means that it was a Reaper. No, it doesn't. That phrase comes no where close to suggesting that. All that means is that the Collector leader was being possessed by a Reaper which is evidenced by the hologram of a Reaper during this scene. Also the fact that the Collectors are worse than Husks. They are only tools for the Reapers and they don't think or heal themselves (Was all mentioned in the game).

This. However, I thought the Collector Leader did look remorseful (as much as that insect can) once let go. Made me remember things about the Prothians, and made me sad :(

Like I said, it's more likely the Reapers themselves are encased inside a streamlined body that all reapers share. I don't remember the final scene except the fact they all looked alike and Harbinger looked like Sovereign in the hologram.

If the story tellers wanted to send out the idea that the Reapers are modeled after the species they come from ,they would have made Harbinger look different. That or they didn't want people to speculate on whether or not Harbinger was actually a reaper or not.

IMO the Reapers are inside a shell that we see, if you go inside the ship you'll likely see a version of the robotic creature we fight in the Collector Base.

One thing that really makes me wonder...Legion tells Shepard that Sovereign was not made up of a single mind but many together. He also learns that some pieces of Sovereign were never recovered. Could this mean that Sovereign is still alive?

Hope so! If the writers could tie that into Illusive Man's motives...hehe

As an aside, I loved the idea of fighting a Collector possessed by a Collector Leader possessed by a Reaper. Over, and over.

It seems like an army is already being built by Shepherd for Mass Effect 3.

1. Rachni

2. Krogan under Wrex

3. Geth under Legion

4. Migrant Fleet

5. Alliance and combined Citadel forces

Unless you did all the opposite choices then you won't have all those.

The reaper tech might balance that out

Wow! Never noticed that until now... hehe, BIoware might have planned this from the start! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

The Rachni's pure numbers, the Krogans' ferociousness, the Geth's inexhaustibility,  the Quarian's ingenuity, the Alliance's and Citadel's power, and if you saved the Collector base, Reaper technology? Can't wait!

I would like to see a Rachni-Krogan Alliance led by Wrex and Grunt (because they did mention they wanted Grunt after the mission was over).

Okay, honestly, no matter what I seem to do my tech expert dies when he tries to shut the doors at the beginning of the mission.

No matter how fast I do the valve openings...

What am I doing wrong?

The same thing happened to me. I read that you have to have a tech specialist I choose the doctor and he died. Then samara died after I chose jack to do the biotic field.

I've tried it with two different characters. Neither worked.

I've only completed the game once and this is how it went down.

I got all the ship upgrades and I /think/ all my squad upgrades, but I'm not quite sure I got all of some of them in retrospect. I didn't have Zaeed with me (that magnificent ba.... man with no father).

Tubes: Tali, survived.

Fire Team 1: Garrus and Grunt, survived.

1st leader: Jacob, survived.

2nd leader: Jacob again, I think? I can't quite remember, it may have been someone else.

Biotic sheild: Samara, survived.

Crew Escort: Thane

Final Team: Garrus and Grunt

Everyone survived except Mordin who died in the firefight, and I'm not quite sure what I did wrong. I tried to continue without him in the game, but it's just too painful without him around, so I'm starting the game again. Hopefully everyone will be fine this time.

Who are you using?
Legion seems to work the best for people.

Wow, so those spoilers WERE true lol

Funny thing is, I refused to believe them anyway so both the human reaper and the collectors = protheans were still twists for me. Thank God for epic states of denial.

My thoughts on the ending: BioWare has a LOT of questions to answer. Why the comically giant human Reaper? Obviously it is a new tactic, but why does it have to be so large? Do the Reapers take the form of beings they integrate? That would make sense, and mean that their current form is not their true form, but Prothean. We already know the Protheans were Squid-like. As for Harbinger... I don't really understand how he can be awake without it invalidating the entire point of the first game. If he activated the Reapers at the end, then why did he need Sovereign at all?

sorry if this was answered b4, the squid reapers are not protheans, they are the race before the protheans. EDI said that the protheans could not be turnedinto a reaper (or something like that) and the reapers turned them into slaves to build other reapers.

Yeah, I hadn't noticed that either. that is REALLY REALLY cool.....wow, now I hope it happens, to see the entire galaxy, united like that, in a battle against the reapers....it'll be breathtakingly awesome.

on a side note, that human reaper scared the living daylights out of me. lol. I can't imagine seeing that fully constructed. that'd be something to fear.

It scared me but not as much as it frustrated me, playing only on Hardcore I had to reload the damn thing at least 15 times due to my running out of ammo. Nonetheless, the ending was still pretty satisfying.

Ok. I did all the normandy upgrades, all the squad personal upgrades, and all the loyalty missions. With that in mind I played the end mission. Zaeed died, shot in gut as the second team door closed, Legion sent through the vents, dead trying to shut the doors, and Mordin died during the firefight.

My level was 30....I read the guide afterwards, it says their are 3 'small' chances that no matter what you do your squad leader/specialist may die. I must be very unlucky, for I hit all three.

I finished my fist time through this afternoon, I used Legion as my tech and Garrus as my team leader both times, I used Samaura as my biotic and took Thane and Grunt to the final battle.I sent the crew back with Zaeed. Mordin died that time. As a result I reloaded and went again the same way with the exceptions of using Jack as my biotic and I took Mordin with me for the final assault. No losses.

As far as the reaper being activated at the end I think you misinterpreted it. What I gathered was that Harbinger was controlling the collectors through the head collector. Since the collector used to be prothean before the reapers modified I'm assuming the reapers somehow set them up as a back up in case something like, the ending of ME1 happened.
You would hope a group of ruthless, super intelligent AI's bent on harvesting the galaxy off and on for all eternity would have a back up plan beside flying in a straight line for x number of years to get back to the galaxy
