What's the fun in knowing who to pick for each assignment to keep them all alive? Its much more challenging and intense if you make the choices yourself. I hate that i stumbled across this thread right before i entered the final mission. I think the ending would have been much more enjoyable if i just stayed away from here lol (my fault).

I think its cool to have a few members die, it adds realism to the whole thing. Members dieing could also significantly change the story in the next chapter.

My thoughts on the ending: BioWare has a LOT of questions to answer. Why the comically giant human Reaper? Obviously it is a new tactic, but why does it have to be so large? Do the Reapers take the form of beings they integrate? That would make sense, and mean that their current form is not their true form, but Prothean. We already know the Protheans were Squid-like. As for Harbinger... I don't really understand how he can be awake without it invalidating the entire point of the first game. If he activated the Reapers at the end, then why did he need Sovereign at all?

As far as the reaper being activated at the end I think you misinterpreted it. What I gathered was that Harbinger was controlling the collectors through the head collector. Since the collector used to be prothean before the reapers modified I'm assuming the reapers somehow set them up as a back up in case something like, the ending of ME1 happened.
You would hope a group of ruthless, super intelligent AI's bent on harvesting the galaxy off and on for all eternity would have a back up plan beside flying in a straight line for x number of years to get back to the galaxy

I think they set the Collectors up to collect examples of the higher evolved species in case there is a species that is compatible with Reapers.

I had everyone's loyalty but Jack's, but that's because I purposefully sided with Miranda. I just wanted to experience the end run - I had a few upgrades, but not too many so I'm surprised I even survived.

I sent Thane into the vents, he liked the heat - but he died when we were trying to close those massive doors from the last stray shot because he couldn't manage to hack the terminal in time.

Legion died on my ship when the Engineering overloaded.

And Jack was on the second squad defending my rear as I went to attack the Human Reaper. But that wasn't surprising.

But man, that was a great game - everything about it I enjoyed, and the last scene with Harbinger and the other Reapers powering up and drifting forward. Yikes.

I beat it on my first try with all members loyal and all surviving. I completed all the missions and explored all of the galaxy. Gonna play again but let members die and choose Morinth etc.

mhm..

my turn:
lvl 26 - soldier
i sent legion in - survived

miranda in the lead both times - no losses

samara for the shield - worked perfectly

send jacob back - everyone safely back at the normandy (except kelly but i´m not sure if you can save here since she turned into goo)

jack (why the name btw ? i never understood that) and legion - went trough the bugs like i did trough geth in me1..

overall no losses and cerberus can go where the sun never shines - btw i hope we can scarp the cerberus logo from the normandy and everything else.. just not my style

also i´m wondering if "nazara"s bragging about the reapers or their numbers or strength wasn´t just that (bragging that is)..

mhm.. by the way what´s up with keeping the damn base (or giving it to anyone for that matter)? it´s the same mistake saren, the science team before him and who knows else did.. the reapers had obviously some sort of control over the former-protheans and indoctrination apparently still works if the actual programs or the "mind" (and body?) of the reaper is dead or dorment or whatever.. so why would you keep the thing?

just my opinion but we - shepard and team(s) - defeated the reapers twice now.. ok the last time we actually had upgrades but still.. like i said after the fu**er.. ahem.. the illusive man - tried to talk me into keeping the damn base - we still defeated them.

On my first playthrough . .only Thane DIED..I though since he was good with infiltration and heat he would do well in vents .. he died..

I sent garrus with the crew escort.
Samara for the shield
Jacob for the fire team
and Miranda for something else.

fighting the giant t-101 i had Tali and Jack

Just finished paragon ending and loved it. The reaper fleet was MASSIVE.

Here were my choices for the last mission:

Part 1

-Legion does the solo mission

-Miranda leads the fireteam

-Garrus and Jacob as my teammates

Part 2

-Tali escorts the crew

-Miranda leads fireteam again

-Jack provides shields

-Grunt and Mordin as my teammates

All were loyal and had full upgrades. The only thing I may have screwed up on was my crew. Only Dr. Chakwas survived, mentioning that I took too long. I'm guessing once you get the Omega Relay mission there's a hidden timer to save the entire crew?

If this is the case I would suggest finishing all loyalty missions and side missions before finishing the Reaper IFF mission. Or alteast all the loyalty missions. Once you finish the game you can continue playing to finish all the side missions.

I wonder what will be the next. Stay Puft Reaper, anyone?

But as for the squad deployment, and 'use your whole team', it was a really good work. I felt like Commander Shepard, not Shepard Who Runs Around With Two Lackeys for the first time.

Oh, as for the rundown:

1. Legion in vents.
Fire team: Garrus
Team: Jack, Thane

2. Samara maintaining aura
Fire team: Garrus
Team: Jack, Mordin

3. Escort: Legion (chosen by mistake, but it worked out well, he-hee)
Fire Team: Miranda
Team: Jack, Garrus

Everyone alive and happy.

I'm wondering if in the creation of a Reaper they distill our minds into them. I picked up on this hint from legion. Stating that many were one. We are each a nation. Ect. ect.

Man that would be ****ed up. I think I would be so confused what to do.

It seems like an army is already being built by Shepherd for Mass Effect 3.
1. Rachni
2. Krogan under Wrex
3. Geth under Legion
4. Migrant Fleet
5. Alliance and combined Citadel forces

Unless you did all the opposite choices then you won't have all those.

The reaper tech might balance that out

Wow! Never noticed that until now... hehe, BIoware might have planned this from the start! Can't wait to see how this turns out.

The Rachni's pure numbers, the Krogans' ferociousness, the Geth's inexhaustibility,  the Quarian's ingenuity, the Alliance's and Citadel's power, and if you saved the Collector base, Reaper technology? Can't wait!

Yeah, I hadn't noticed that either. that is REALLY REALLY cool.....wow, now I hope it happens, to see the entire galaxy, united like that, in a battle against the reapers....it'll be breathtakingly awesome.

on a side note, that human reaper scared the living daylights out of me. lol. I can't imagine seeing that fully constructed. that'd be something to fear.

You also have the opportunity to have Mordin take the Genophage cure research and continue working on a cure, so no more Krogan extinction...

I think Shepard will be named supreme allied commander for the final assault against the reaper prime.  Throughout both games several people tell you that you're a natural leader and that people will follow you into hell.

Really enjoyed the final mission.

Team Alpha Awesome: Mordin (Heavy Incinerate) and Miranda (Heavy Warp). They 1-2 combo'd every Harbringer that showed up, along with my Team warp ammo, we rocked everything.

Vents: Tali

2nd Team Lead for both: Garrus

Biotic: Jack

Escort: Jacob

No deaths, saved the entire crew.

Overall I was very happy with my first playthrough, almost perfect except for not hitting level 30. I only got to level 29 :(.

This game is so short. I am very dissapionted. The missions are all guided. Enemies are easy. UG :(. It was a fun game i wish they made more of the missions like the last one where you cordinate different groups. LOL I was always wondering what they did when you could only use two of them.. I guess they used all of the game space on movies scenes..

This is what you should do:
Get all upgrades from your party members. Talk to them, investigate, and then go to UPGRADES (Legion does not have one).

Have Loyalty for all party members.

Take Miranda and Grunt with you at all times.

Send Tali through the pipe.

That worked for me.

Tali died while closing manually the door (she took a headshot) so I really dunno what exactly triggered this...

I was lucky enough to go in less than 100% prepared expecting to see anyone die at any moment.

I chose Legion for the vents and he did not disappoint.

I chose Garrus as the other team leader both times - he led his own vigilante merc group and given our history was someone I could trust putting into command and watching my back. There was no way I was putting Miranda in charge. No way. I despise Cerberus. At one stage Garrus got hit with a glancing blow and stumbled through the door - the sad/dying music played and I was about to scream out NOOOOOOOO but it looked like Garrus just shrugged it off and continued on. I think I got lucky there.

I then sent Jacob as an escort back to the ship with the Doc and Kelly and crew. I was tempted to send someone like Grunt but he was a Krogan looking for a fight and was thus inherently unreliable for guard duty. He served well holding the line in any case.

Anyway that part worked well - so I chose Samara as the biotic field specialist. I was tempted to choose Jack but quickly came to my senses. Jack may have had superior RAW potential but we needed more than just strength - we needed an experienced biotic who could pace themselves and an Asari matriarch fit the bill perfectly.

I took Thane and Tali with me. Thane almost fell off the platform after the final fight. Caught him in time. Tali almost got crushed. All crew made it back to the ship. We all ran back.

I swear I wasn't going to make the jump but I did.

EPIC!

But the problem with Bioware games is once it's over there's really no incentive to play anymore. At least not in the immediate future. Sure you can continue after the mission with DLC but it just feels hollow and pointless.

We need ME3.

I'm playing it a second time (with import from the first playthrough) because I need to get Miranda's loyalty. She keeps dying.

Normally no one dies if you a) do all the quests and B) all the upgrades. Just a remark.

Not true.  I did absolutely everything.  Every side quest, 100% of the available systems explored, even the 4 clusters you can buy the maps of on Illium, and I still lost Mordin at the end.  Miranda suggested a techie in the tunnels, and Tali was glued to my side, so I had Mordin go.  What a mistake.  8(

I beat it with everyone surviving. I sent Garrus as the leader both times, he seemed like a great leader considering how he lead a team while Shepard was dead, only being defeated by a traitor. Then I used Miranda and Mordin for my team, they are a great combo for shields and armor. For the vents I used Tali, because I trusted her, and she is the engineer on the ship. In the end it all worked out, but I had some close calls, like Garrus getting shot and scaring the crap out of me.

Level 25 soldier, Paragon. I had maximum loyalty with everyone and had the ship fully upgraded. (minus the medical bay)

I chose Tali to lead the first squad, cause I thought she had experience with leadership. She seemed to always be leading a group of quarian soldiers prior.

I had Mordin go in the vents. I thought that would work because he used to be in the special task group, but he got pegged with a missle in the head by the door.

I found the whole crew and had Zaeed lead them back. I chose Jack for the shield, and Tali again for squad leader. I thought they all survived, but then Tali was holding her stomach and died due to suit punctures. Everything went fine after that.

That made me a lot sadder than I expected, Tali was my LI. After I finished the game I loaded up a save point right before the Omega 4 relay so I could make her survive. Did anyone else have their LI die or get really upset when they lost a character?

I didnt like the whole concept of the Human Reaper, but I thought the ending with the millions of reapers looming over the galaxy was great. Cant wait for ME3!

Legion as tech expert for the ventilation shafts, only died at end because I forgot to upgrade his stupid sniper rifle. Samara led team 2, obvious choice, ridiculously wise and strong leader. Grunt took survivors back, no casualties. Tali and Zaeed with me on Reaper fight, no casualties. None on the approach either because ship was fully upgraded. So one sniper rifle upgrade ruined my achievement, time to fix it with another playthrough haha.
