SPOILERS
Okay, so after you get Skyhold, and you leave for the first time, a lot of repairs have started and finished on the castle when you return. The Throne Room isn't in shambles, but has Orlesian guests and scaffolding. There's scaffolding everywhere. The Tavern and Armory and Quartermaster are functional. But lots of rooms are still a mess. The hole in what I'm calling the Western Battlements (over by where you meet Hawke) are fixed, but the hole in the Eastern Battlements (over by the Stables) is not. If you go up to your bedroom you can find schematics on your desk that allow you to upgrade your Courtyard, Garden, and Main Tower (come on, is it really the "Main" Tower?) And if you find enough quarries and logging stands out in the world you can upgrade each. Great. Also, after you've completed Adamant and Halamshiral, all the scaffolding disappears and you have more guests. But not all the repairs are done. The interior for most of the towers are still a mess. Some doors still won't open, and the Eastern Battlements are still broken. And it has stayed that way until I beat the game.
So repairs are based off game progress and schematic completion, right? Why can't I fully fix Skyhold then? Am I missing something? Are there more schematics somewhere? Or is it supposed to stay that way throughout? The customizer in the Undercroft doesn't seem to affect that stuff.
Also, these upgrades are pretty cheap. I spend so much time wandering the countryside, unlocking all of these quarries and stands, and the upgrades hardly change anything at all. I thought the sparring ring would be similar to the training grounds you saw at Haven. A ton of guys going through sword forms with a few drillmasters looking on? The garden is bad too. I can either get a few more flower pots, which produce new herbs in such low quantity and speed as to be useless, or an equally useless and completely solitary totem/obelisk/statue thing in one corner of the garden. I guess the Mage/Templar tower is a little better. You at least can trick yourself into thinking "Ah, 10 of the senior mages I recruited don't have to sleep in tents down on that frozen lake anymore. It's too bad this tower is so sparsely stocked with mage equipment."
Also, what is the point of the Secret Library? There's some sort of room near the kitchen and wine cellar, that I am assuming could be used as a private dining area for important guests if we ever got furniture in there. Off of that is this additional library, with a big spooky book. The Dark Library. Whatever you want to call it. I saw it and said "This is where Morrigan will stay when she gets here." Nope. She's in the garden. And where is the Eluvian she brought with her? In a spare storage room, next to the garden. *Flips table in mock exasperation*
If someone can provide some clarity, it would be much appreciated.
