They weren't, kiddo.

It's not available for free to those who don't have the code. You would know this if you checked it out yourself, like I did. An error pop up message comes up to tell you it isn't available for download.

- It was available for free to those who didn't have the code earlier however, so the point would still remain. I'm not sure if you were around in those first few hours of the day when apparently hundreds of people were able to get their hands on the CE content, as well as use it in-game, but they do have access to it despite not going through the proper means (which would be to buy the CE).

It isn't available for download now, you're correct, but many already have picked up their stolen content without  repurcussion or trouble at all.

For reference, I just got home from a long closing shift at my campus job, and I just googled "Mass Effect 2 DLC" to get an idea of what's coming when I (hopefully) get my package tomorrow/later today.

Clearly, I wasn't able to access XBL at all or anything (roommate's asleep), but I found a blog post excited about the free DLC that 'appeared on XBL earlier today as an apparent mistake' and that one of them was "Collector's Gear, still listed as free". And, obviously, there's an actual Marketplace entry for it that agrees with that claim.

It no longer works without a code. It did work without a code for a couple of hours last night but no more.

The nice website says-

This item is not available for purchase from Xbox LIVE Marketplace on the Web.

Meaning you can't DL it unless you have the code.

Okay, seriously now, Bioware, you're pissing me off.

I have spent extra money, and at this rate, the only truly unique thing I'm getting is the tin. What the hell? First the Cerberus Card, now the Collectors' Equipment which was touted as "EXCLUSIVE to the Collector's Edition of ME2!!!"?

So... while the Cerberus Card wasn't worded in such a way, Collectors' Gear was specifically said to be totally exclusive. What's the excuse now?

I knew this would happen I learnt my lesson from the stupid DragonAge collectors edition the only thing collectable was the worthless bonus disc.

EA are to blame as they are to blame for every game they publish and release, I have no idea why on earth developers would be that ridiculous to go work for an evil twisted corporation that pushes out games that are hindered.

So now you can quit trolling and read the rest of the posts where people showed me that I was wrong for assuming.

You can learn alot from them. Mainly about the value of not assuming.

Because they give them money to make games.

Yes, I heard about that. I was up during that time, but didn't even know until later this afternoon, nor do I care. I got the CE edition pre-ordered, but not for the armour and weapon. You don't see me complaining over a mistake that wasn't BioWare's problem, do you? No. Honestly, those people were lucky, but no thieves. Once a developer sends all that stuff over for the marketplace for XBL to review and then put up for download. It is completely in Microsoft's hands. Not BioWare, nor EA's. These mistakes are rare. No one is perfect.

It's not about the fact that it's in-game content. That's your mistake in judging my reaction.

I don't care if it's a IRL hat that came with the CE.

If they advertise it as a hat that will ONLY appear in the CE box, and will never appear elsewhere, only to have it appear in the Bioware merch shop or something, it's taking away the concept of exclusivity. I can get the comic elsewhere, and the artbook (and that probably in a larger/more complete form), and even the bonus DVD's content (YouTube or similar); the fact that I knew that I was getting something that I could consider my bonus for supporting Bioware that extra mile, a bonus that was mine because I put aside more of my money to buy a different version of the same game, and then to find out that the bonus was, even for a few hours, available to any dishonest person who was aware of it... That's where the problem lies for me. Principle, not subject matter.

It was an accident though, people seem to act like its a vicous attack, you're still being rewarded for the CE

It has to be available on XBL for those who have XBL and the code to download. You can't download it if it isn't on XBL. Besides, like all exclusive content, it will eventually be available for others to buy and use. You just get it early.

"Dishonest", hah. If they happened to download it because of Microsoft's fault, it doesn't make them thieves. If anything, Microsoft is accountable and they should pay Bioware the extra $ per each person per each download to make up for it =P

You're striving out of jelaousy right now that people got something that you paid for, for free. Well guess what, every game that you've ever bought, people have gotten for free on both PC and XBOX360. I don't see you raising hell in the xbox forums.

That would be like me getting mad because I paid for my TF141 xbox360, but the guy that stood in line for mw2 in NYC got one for free. Man I'm getting my ticket right now to fly out there and punch him in the face. IM SO MAD.

Get over yourself. There is no multiplayer. You still get your set. You won't see anyone in your perfect little ME2 world with it aside from the NPC collectors.

You're damn right I'm going to complain that what are little more than thieves were able to take something of value that was in no way meant for them to have. Call it what you want, but it's theft from Bioware. I bet if you saw someone shoplift a store, you'd shrug your shoulders, say "well, what's a few bucks going to matter to the store's well-being? And if he gets away with it, he deserves it." and proceed to do whatever business you had at the store. If not, well, that's the same situation.

I paid MORE MONEY for MORE [exclusive] CONTENT. Quite simple, really.

Again, if I were in it for the artbook, I would buy it in the complete form from the Bioware shop. The tin doesn't matter, I keep my 360 disks in a CD case. Comic is available elsewhere. Cerberus Network comes with all new copies.

So, let me get this straight: If you promise to go over to your friend's house in an hour and I then take a baseball bat and break you legs, you would be guilty of lying?

Holy hell is that silent guy complaining again? Just leave, pop open a Dr.Pepper, and go do something productive with your life, rather than complaining on a frigan game forum. If you do this you might not end up on welfare and start hating your self. But oh how ironic that would be.

- I love how the reaction is "LOL, you're jealous!".

That could be further from the truth.

If all the DLC was available on Live right now for download, allowing me the chance to cancel my Collector's Edition, I still wouldn't do it. I'm not irresponsible like other people. Nor am I a downright thief.

Yes, you are a thief is you downloaded the CE armour. If a woman stopped to try on a pair of shoes and left her purse on the ground unguarded, you do not have the right to take it simply because the oppurtunity is there. This is why there is no excuse for downloading that content even if the fault lies with Microsoft's crappy security programming or a flaw. To suggest otherwise is to suggest you have the right to take that woman's purse.

The simple fact of the matter is that people who downloaded the CE content despite not having paid for it are theives. I personally believe they should be criminally prosecuted but the likliehood is apparently slim.

It has nothing to do with if they get all this extra content but everything to do with the fact they didn't acquire it through the necessary means. This is why it's similar to welfare, which needs to be thrown down the shaft. People who went through the proper channels to get access to the CE content basically get screwed while people who didn't get rewarded handsomely with no repurcussions or ill-effects (other than being morally corrupt).

Like I said, get over yourselves, both of you. There is zero multiplayer in this game. Please, tell me, how in the hell does it bother you, if you were going to have CE either way, and play it, by yourself, since there is (again) NO MULTIPLAYER, meaning no one would ever see you in that armor outside of spectators of your tv. And you wouldn't see anyone that "stole" the armor, ever, in your life, in game or online.

I'm just fascinated that it bothers you that much that some folk downloaded it when they had the chance, thats all. Please elaborate why it strokes your ego so badly.

P.S Lol@Politics.

I preordered the CE too, but I'm not ****ing about it.

I love it when people blame the sources that aren't responsible for something that happened. Like when people on MW2 forums yelled at IW when Activision screwed up.

- Then people take advantage of those mistakes despite not having a right to them in the first place, which should be the main focus. "Oh, Microsoft screwed up, lemme' steal all this content from them even though I am not entitled to it" - That demonstrates nothing short of a Thief's mentality.

If you agree with that mentality, then you shouldn't complain about any type of criminal activity since you, too, are a criminal. If someone steals your Social Security number or gets your Credit Card information, I guess you wouldn't mind that at all. After-all, you did the same thing when you took something that doesn't belong to you "... just because the oppurtunity presented itself".
