I noticed that a couple of my weapons have the word "Iced" as part of the their described effects, and they trail snow and vapor as if they had cold runes installed (but they don't). I don't think I see any extra cold damage being done in combat, though. Does this actually have any effect in gameplay, or is it just to make them look cool? (I am okay with them just looking cool, if that is the case.)
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere in the forums; I tried searching, but this new Forum makes it a lot easier to search for people than for text in posts...
The icing on the cake (or weapon)

iced usually shows up when you have a mage who has cast frost weapons on them
And it should do cold damage. You will see your damage in white, and then the cold damage in blue underneath

Ah, okay, thanks. I didn't realize that temporary spell effects from my party members showed up under the item description when you click for "more info" on the item in your inventory (or that they lasted even when you're just wandering around your camp).
As for not seeing it do cold damage ... hm, I wonder if I am just fighting things immune to cold. Better go find something else to kill.

Those effects last as long as the mage has the buff active, which can be quite a long time.
Undead are immune to cold, and there are a great many of those in the game.
