... I'm going freaking BLIND trying to find, let alone acquire, the loot that falls from enemy kills. First off... the damned package is almost too small to be seen, second its bland color blends in with most of the backgrounds in the game, third the TEENY TINY word 'LOOT' is almost invisible and IS invisible on many backgrounds... especially snow!! Change the damned graphic to something that can be seen! If you're not going to give us an 'Auto Loot' (which is what SHOULD happen) at least make the damned package bigger.. make the text BIGGER... just leave a BODY and let us loot that!! Do SOMETHING!

I shudder to think of how much look I've simply left laying there because I didn't want to spam the 'search' button for a half hour trying to look for it.

AARRUUGGHH!!

Frustrated with this game!!

I don't like spamming the search button either, BUT, it does give loot a glowing outline.

I agree with the auto loot function, but disagree with everything else. I don't believe lot icons are too small and is almost invisible. They're perfectly visible on a normal sized tv, or quality pc monitor. Only thing that is difficult to find at times, are crafting supplies, which I'm sure is intended.

Agreed 100pc. I would'nt mind if dropped on the mini map or something, but yeah, it does seem very lazy and..well.****.

I just want a click to actually move your character in range, and loot.  Not just click, click, click while I move closer to it.

The "search" outline should have been red, not yellow... it's too hard to see right now.  And it shouldn't illuminate ladders and signposts (there was another thread where a toggle was suggested... I'd be in favor of that).  Anyway, I agree... it's hard to keep track of loot from human enemies, although the ribcages left behind from animals is a lot easier to spot...

Also, the way loot moves closer to the PC is something of a mixed blessing... if you aren't expecting it to do that, you could wind up searching the area where an enemy died for a while before realizing that the loot appeared where you were standing when you killed them...

I don't really like the way you said it, but it needs to be said. Loudly and often.

Possible solutions:

1)  Any item given an outline is also given a minimap Icon.

2)  Radial Menu/Tac-Cam illuminates loot in a more user friendly way.

3) Search function points an arrow directly toward illuminated items, similarly to how it points toward nearby hidden treasure, but more directly so.

4) Just leave the corpses on the ground, they can rot AFTER I take my hard-earned goodies.

Every enemy drops like five bags of loot, and you want all of them to be displayed on the minimap?

The solution, of course, it to find something heavy and use it to keep V (the scan key) pressed at all times; if you don't you'll likely miss a lot of ore/herbs too since these tend to spawn inside terrain.

Well loot rebound helps, when it works, but it was a proactive effort to help.  Still, my vote was rebound to pocket at least until it gets fixed.

I do have an issue with this. I do not want a auto loot function however I do feel loot ought to and SHOULD be treated the same way as quest or collectible specific loot, only the mini map does not light up. I am talking about the ping, and the directional arrow pointing which direction you should head for it. THAT should be dual purpose, and should ideally lead to the nearest source. This way, if you are positive loot is near and you are by a ladder or crafting resource you can take a few steps away from those, click the search and hopefully have the directional arrow point out where any loot is. This would mean you can start searching any location you are in from the relative middle as it would be a good indication that way if there is loot.

I also don't think the bioware rep leading that discussion was aware of click to move and get loot -odd!  That said, it was a semi-hostile forum from his viewpoint, but apparently productive, none the less.  If you get on one of these forums stay on topic and stay cool.

For games with really annoying mechanics like this (DA2 had some issues too), I just set the difficulty down some and then skip most of the loot unless I've killed something really impressive... So I get less loot, find fewer good things, get less cash, can buy fewer upgrades... but since the game is set to an easier difficulty that usually works out. And then I don't have to spend 50% of my game-time looking for and clicking-on what often ends up being worthless junk anyway... My guess is that the game won't let you miss something that the plot-critical just because you don't loot every single dead body.

Much like the OP, I would be OK with them not dissolving defeated enemies and leaving those ones that DO have loot, as bodies. After killing my first dragon I was upset to see its body dissolve, simply leaving behind a loot cache...

Nothing is quite so awesome as killing a big nasty fire breathing giant lizard and then [because you already took its soul] looting the evil bugger, and coming back over an hour later and its carcass is STILL there. [yes, I AM on about Skyrim]

You know, I can live with this... ehm, "inconvenience". But... for the love of BioWare, PLEASE let the loot be where the enemy died OR spawn at my location. Not some random here or there!

*shakes fist along with OP* :P

It was a matter of what they could achieve on a quick turn around via Origin and what might need to be on a DLC or bigger change -can't please everyone, especially with a small fix. It was good to see a proactive discussion even if many of us did not fully agree, we understood the scope of each issue.  The rep made sure we understood the technical issues and the logic of the proposed choices and asked for opinions involving us in early planning - he made good on this promises.  A win-win in my opinion, they could use more like it!

Hate to say it, but some bugs involve mission critical items and the game gets sour real fast.   If you see any of these issues revert to an earlier save, most are not recoverable and accumulated open ended quests go bad in a hurry.

I've explained it like this to people that find these "misplaced" bugs and ask for help. Look at boundaries stacked like absolute boundaries and some softer boundaries like fences that make up most surfaces. If an object lands above the fence -no problem.  However, if it lands between an absolute boundary and a fence you see it, but can not pick it up - this happens when the "floor" has special effects and the game engine "misplaces" the object, some boundaries are quite dynamic.  And it can happen to anything, even demons and once a player!  If you don't see the item/demon at all it may be outside the absolute boundary, which should not be possible, so consider another opaque fence because it still shows up on tactics and you know it is there, not in limbo.

The other issue with demons and loot is "stuck on a fence": if the demon wiggles right or left targeting detects it, but on the boundary the game engine is "confused". When loot happens to land on a vertical object, it does not matter how close you get even if you see the loot -can't pick it up, wrong side of fence, so to speak.

Seeing this behavior I was thinking of proposing a right circular cylinder that covers anything w/in 1 meter or so and extending to the character's height + 1 meter and activates a buoyancy effect to float the object to the player if it is stuck/out of reach.  This might also help when loot falls behind or inside rocks. The key is to override the boundary for a moment and recover the loot.  I've seen a lot of these as you can imagine.

The click cubed is another issue.  If you look carefully it is inconsistent behavior that gets to the heart of the inept hardware scanning - don't know how to be nice about that, but I do know its a bigger issue for a change.  Oh, the mouse is not the only hardware affected -every platform has this inconsistent selection issue.

Remember the tool in Dead space, same principle, bigger issues - it's nearly impossible to see in some locations.  Certainly, DAI could benefit from better minimap controls and I don't think its even on the list of Bioware immediate needs.  There is a thread devoted to minimap functions - I believe it's still in feedback so they will look at it at some point.

I would not bet on that -started trouble shooting them earlier, now looking at any difference in level of hardness.  The items that are missing -ongoing.  However, the items that are incomplete or blatantly wrong or in some case textures are incomplete - long list - looks like they simply ran out of time.

Interacting with a rift is sometimes equally frustrating. I'm directly under it but must move away and face it somewhere up there while everyone dies around me...

I want to add here that as much as I appreciate the little shiny 'dot' added to the mini map, I STILL think this game badly needs an auto loot. Bad enough that half the loot you get is worthless, even with the dot it is STILL nearly impossible to find a lot of the time. Leave the body!! Why make us search around endlessly for a nearly invisible little packet with the tiny word 'Loot' over it? Just.. leave the body.

Which unfortunately doesn't help much in sun drenched grasslands.
