He's the most complex, and is sympathetic unlike Erimond Livius or Calpernia. His actions while reckless, were driven by a desire to save his son rather than a want to rule the world and he even admits that Corypheus's coming is not a good thing. Opinions?
Alexius is the best *villain* in the game

I will admit, I liked Alexius. Kudos for having both a Tevinter companion and a Tevinter villain who's not one-dimensional.

I actually did feel sorry for him after listening to Dorian's side of things and what he said about Alexius, so yes, I let him live and turned him into an agent in the end. Chatting with Dorian made me realize that Alexius was a human being who had once been a pretty decent man that ended up making a really huge mistake because he loved his son and was wracked with guilt over not protecting his family.

I found Calpernia to be a much better antagnoist, at least once you realize what she is about. She wants to bring about a reformed tevinter(ie the world) under the rule of Corypheus. Cory saved her from slavery, and she fights in his name by liberating all the slaves she comes across.
That said I did like Alexius, he was better then the templar ******* who was feeding people red lyrium.

According to Dorian, Alexius's wife and son were traveling to some other city/place (don't recall the name, sorry), and Alexius wasn't with them. They were attacked by darkspawn en route. His wife died, and his son was Blight-infected.

Yes. That's why he was in a crouched ghoul pose in the future, and why Leliana's flesh was being harvested for taint-resistant tissue samples.

...Leliana has taint resistant tissue samples? Did being in the thick of the Blight give her that or something? ![]()

Probably she's just naturally resistant.

I didn't like the time travel part. It has no consquenses. where as the templar mission, you have to fight to save Ser Barris who reforms the order into something grand, great and much better then before. Plus I am not a fan of time travel in general ![]()

No. Leliana is just a writer's pet.

Ah, yes, because writer's pets frequently get chained to a ceiling to have their flesh slowly carved off.

I can totally see why someone would find his desire to save his son would make him such a human and relate-able villain. For me know that whole motivation just pisses me off when I see it used in fiction.
The guy going to nearly destroy the world just to save his son. One person over the lives of millions. Yeah, I always hate an antagonist who does that.

It's in a note... somewhere in Redcliffe Castle.
I personally suspect that that entire mission was concocted as trailer fuel.

I think one could safely assume every non-Warden companion in DA:O gained some resistance to it too, seeing as none of them ever got Blight sickness...so, nay.

Leliana being Blight resistant doesn't make her special. Some people are resistance while others aren't, you DAO companions, Hawke and Co. Except for Carver and Bethany. With some ppl it may depend on the level of exposure. It didn't take much exposure to taint Aveline's husband while being stuck in the Deeproads for a long time got Hawke's sibling.

Because the bad things that happen to writer's pets have no consequences.
Like bad things only happening to their alternative selfs.
