Hello everyone,

 

I've read that today's (or yesterday's depending on location) Xbox Live update has made it to where some users consoles can't read discs. I don't know how true it is, but I thought that I would go ahead and get warning out there just in case, I'd also like to know if anyone here has had that issue (I haven't downloaded the update myself). 

 

I'm really unsure as to whether or not to believe the claims, but I find them somewhat credible since there have been a couple of incidences off companies pushing out console breaking updates this year.

I just updated it today, played a few games by disc, I was fine.

 

But an anecdote does not make the full picture.

Disk drive is hardware. Not software, which is what updates handle.

 

Granted. I won't test it until I'm sure. But the chances of that happening seems slim to none.

Isn't there a program that reads the discs though (I don't mean the laser, the program that tells what game you have on your console. The one where it says "Play Mass Effect" or whatever game you have inserted)? That's what people are claiming is getting screwed up, not the actual disc tray itself.

I'm very literal minded when it comes to electronics. So it's very annoying when people don't describe things properly.

I did the update, discs still run fine for me.

I updated mine and I could still play DA:I so I don't think I have that problem.

I think that Microsoft is updating their security to be better prepared for Lizard Squad. 

They are aiming to attack the servers on or around Christmas.

Well, on the bright side they only seem to be capable of masking themselves, carrying out DDOS attacks and calling in a bomb threat to an airport. I'm sure that one day they'll screw up and cross

WTF!? ANOTHER update today??

 

They're trying to fix it to where it can't be DDOS attacked, I bet. It would hurt them a lot if people got Xbox Ones for Christmas and their first Xbox Live experience was it being down due to it being brought down by Lizard Squad.
