I've not been here the whole time. If you're bored, then you're free to leave, too.
Bored? Far from it. Some people seem to take this far to seriously. So it is at least interesting to pop in and see what is all the rage. Threads like this are fantastic, people move in and out, new people people come, others leave.
They are an age old symptom of the Internet. I have my opinion and you won't change it, followed by a healthy dose of, I need to have the last word. Bingo-bongo 60 page thread inc!

I played an elf. I was friendly towards her but she constantly mocked my PC for their heritage no matter how innocuous my dialogue options towards her were and it left a sour taste. Then there was the spat after her personal mission, after she beats that dude to death.
That's what I suspected. It seems the order of friendliness from warm to cold is qunari, human/dwarf, elf.

I meant with you. Jesus Christ, we were actually having a semi-civil discussion (despite you ignoring most of the relevant points made) and then you put some snarky **** like that. How very Sera.
That's not snark that's clarification. Before I take the time to respond to your post I want to know if you're going to bother with it.
And now I think I understand a bit better exactly how you came to see Sera as so horrible.

Well, she certainly does seem to have a fondness for Qunari women if I'm correctly remembering the few bits of banter I heard from her.

Well to be fair you did sort of back handedly insult him...
Look, You're an intelligent person, but let me explain this to you, since you are to stupid to understand. How unlike Sera of you. Much to subtle.

I didn't mean you, was referring to the person I quoted.
Anywho, I'll have to play through as an elf to see if Sera is as bad as everyone says. I have a bunch of female Qunari, because well, Woof! And a male Mage because my better half mocks me endlessly if I don't at least have one male character. Sera seems to like him though. She said we had a lot in common, I thought that was sweet.

Then there was the spat after her personal mission, after she beats that dude to death.
Which was the final straw for me.
After she refused to admit her part of the guilt of getting her friends killed and repedeatly insisting that she was right, even my altruistic Inquisitor had enough of her.

Ah sorry, everyone is male on the Internet to me! It is the only way I can suppress the urge to give all my shinies away in the hope of a smiley face emoticon.

You do know that her friends were strangers who had contacted her and not the other way around, right?

Yeah, she loves Qunari women like Bull loves redheads. lol!
Perhaps she needs to take a trip to Par Vollen. She might actually fit the Qun quite nicely.

Because the dude set up and then murdered some people? We kill people for that all the time. We kill people for less. Have you not played DA before?

Not while interrogating somebody who has potential use for our institution.
Look, I get that you like the character, but stop trying to invalidate every point of criticism.

Technically, they got themselves killed, since it's a completely opt-in arrangement that they can choose to get out of at any time with no consequences on the part of other "friends".
Nevertheless it was the reason she beat the dude to death.
I do have to give that noble some credit. He was blatantly unapologetic about killing those people, even the one that died right in front of you, and coolly proposed an arrangement right in front of you after having an ambush set upon you. I wish I could have my Inquisitor shake his hand for having such impressive gall, then proceed to murder knife him myself.

It does strike me as odd the amount of people who keep saying this. There is a conversation with Sera where she even equates what she is doing with what the Inquisition is doing. And she is basically right. People contact the inquisition for help. If the inquisition can, or if there is something in it for us the inquisition helps. Along the way some eggs get broken. They knew the risk, the inquisition did the best it could. Eggs always get broken.
Now given She is working at street level, and the Inquisition is concerned with the known world, but still... The principle is the same. I don't know maybe these people hate their own Inquisition as well.

Yea, I really do NOT understand how people continually misunderstand that scene and the how murder victim was an "opt-in" contact, not someone Sera sent in. And the noble scumbag, yea... brass set right there. He:
- Sets up someone in his own employ
- Ambushes the Quizzie despite recognizing her.
- Kills the underling contact he coerced to contact the Red jennys
- Tries to pass off the ambush on the Quizzie as an "honest mistake" despite having it pointed out to him by certain Companions that he could have talked first to Quizzie prior to having his mercenaries killed.
- Then tries to pass everything off as a Mulligan and start over.
I actually asked Sera to kill him as soon as the dialogue wheel opened up. Whatever it is that he thought he could bring to the Inquisition, I wasn't buying any. The stupid part was unlike other villains I recruited as "second-chance" agents, he kept trying to bargain from a position of strength, when it was painfully obvious he had nothing to bargain with.

Only the invalid ones. You don't have to like Sera, why should I care about that? I certainly haven't liked all the companions through the DA and ME series. But if you feel compelled to come onto the forum and try and justify it with things like this then... I'm your huckleberry.
I think you're just hurt that Sera killed someone without your permission. Try and remember that it was HER PERSONAL QUEST. You were just along to open doors and help with the heavy lifting. Personally, the only reason we were even talking to that pantstain in my playthrough was that the game wouldn't let me fill him full of arrows from a distance. As I said one of the myriad other times this objection to Sera was raised, I am just disappointed they didn't have a "Here Sera, I'll hold his arms for you" option in the dialogue.

The funny thing about Sera and her red jennys is:
It is very likely that the Friends of Red Jenny are being controlled by some noble somewhere, that they are simply pawns in the grand game. The right letter, written the correct way, sent to the correct places can get your enemy killed (or their belongings stolen),and there would be no way to trace it back to you.
Say you are noble#0,you hate noble #1 because he stepped on your shoe at the ball last night.
All you need is to tell someone, who will tell someone else, who will tell someone else, who will tell Sera that noble#1 is a baddie. They get an arrow in their face and you move on with your life. You probably didn't even need to pay anyone.
It would remind me of those dead drops in the dark brotherhood quest line(TES oblivion).
With Sera's lack of critical thinking skills and her trust in the friends it is entirely possible that she is simply an unknowing pawn.Maybe that will be her story in future, finding out what the friends really are.
I hope this is where her story is going.
I would cry at first.Tears of laughter.
Little people will always be caught in the middle, this is illustrated by Sera's contact literally being caught in the middle during the ambush(lol).

Nobles who places servants in the service of other nobles. Likely already happens so they can keep an ear to thier potential rivals, how funny it would be if in serving the little people Sera was manipulated in turn because she refuses to see things clearly.
